    u/Kain_niaK, I don't want your money.

Yesterday after the Charlie Lee and Roger Ver debate video came out u/Kain_niaK made a bet that I couldn't complete a lightning payment to one of the 4000 merchants that CoinGate enabled if successful he would pay me 1 BCH. You can see our exchange here https://np.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/9ldi7t/roger_ver_debates_charlie_lee_the_lightning/e766136/. He lost. The video of my transaction is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryW1NhpgF7w. So far he has sent me around .1 BCH and has stated he will pay it in increments. I am here to let him and all others know I am forgiving his debt. If he wants to move forward with payment that's on him but I am not interested in frivolously shaming and taking money from someone who needs it for his other real life obligations. $500 to me isn't easy to come by and I assume the same goes for him. I intend to return the money he already sent.

The thing is we all know why we are here, aside for those looking to make a quick buck, and that's to see the embodiment of real life sound liberating money. Something the world needs to move to the enlightenment of mankind. After watching his youtube videos at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLni7r-xOl68fPgmQEsAGAA the guy just seems like a normal dude who like all of us is excited about this technology. u/Kain_niaK doesn't seem like an asshole and doesn't come off like a real arrogant rich twat like some in this space. If that were the case I would have no problem taking his money. He is a normal person who has struggles and finds enjoyment in certain things.

u/Kain_niaK I am also a piano/keyboard player. In fact my that is one of my life's greatest pleasures. My username CP70 is in fact a reference to the Yamaha CP70 electric piano. What say you that we put this behind us, be more open to our opposite communities and instead have a chat about our instruments and bands we enjoy? That is more interesting to me.

edit* I have cross posted this in r/Bitcoin at https://np.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/9ln62s/ukain_niak_i_dont_want_your_money/

edit2* u/Kain_niaK has agreed, funds have been returned and he wrote a wonderful little tune to boot. Thread is here: https://np.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/9ln5m5/ukain_niak_i_dont_want_your_money/e78a6zo/?context=3

Coinbase - Don't know their own terms and conditions?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2018 03:31 PM PDT

Long story short. My Coinbase account has been hacked and a significant amount of cash has been spent on my cards.

I opened a case with coinbase in order to begin the recovery process, which has so far taken three weeks! After many calls and emails I've finally got a final response which has been escalated to the Financial Ombusman.

Coinbase are arguing that I'm not due a refund due to the fact my device was compromised and it's completely my responsibility. Here's their email:

    "Thanks for your response,

The funds were not placed into your E-Money wallets. They were used to purchase cryptocurrency. There's a large difference there. Assuming the hacker had deposited funds instead of purchasing cryptocurrency, you would still not be eligible for a refund due to the core issue that your device was compromised. Coinbase assumes no responsibility for the security of your device and that responsibility lies solely in your hands. I hope this has made this more clear for you, but I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.

Have a great day, and thanks for using Coinbase!

    Coinbase Support"

Within their UK terms and conditions it states the following:

"You will be liable for the first EUR 50 of any losses you incur in respect of an unauthorised transaction which arises from the use of a lost or stolen credentials (for example when you have failed to keep the personalised features of your Coinbase E-Money Account safe)."

I've been accused of being a liar, that the terms are made up and they aren't within Coinbase's terms and conditions. Well, check for yourself here's a link, it can be found within section 3.9, refund rights: https://www.coinbase.com/legal/user_agreement?locale=en

What are your thoughts, do you think coinbase are right in refusing to give me a refund or should I take this further?

A year around the world with just one bitcoin

Bitcoin was a tool that was born of the economic crisis some 10 years ago, does that mean another big recession or banking collapse could catapult it forward?

The "Squire Mining" penny stock company promoted by Coingeek could be a nChain pump & dump scam. Here's the evidence...

    Posted: 05 Oct 2018 11:51 AM PDT

"Squire Mining" is a penny stock company, with no revenues. In most years, it had operating expenses around $10,000 - $150,000.

For many years, "Squire Mining" listed its business as literally mining for physical metals & minerals, like copper, gold, tungsten, etc.

Then in August 2018, "Squire Mining" suddenly changed its listed business to say that it's now involved with mining Bitcoin & blockchain applications with ASIC chips.

Wow, what a change. From using shovels to mine for metals & minerals, to using ASIC chips to mine for Bitcoin.

Two months later (October 2018), "Squire Mining" claimed that they now have an ASIC miner prototype, that is faster & more efficient than most commonly used crypto miners on the market, and they will deliver them to Coingeek in 2019.

"Squire Mining" also announced that Stefan Matthews is both the Chairman of nChain and director of Squire.

As homopit noted in the comments, Squire's ASIC design apparently comes from "Aracore"

And the aracore.io website is shady as hell.

And the "About" page has blatant stock photos for team members..

At this point, the penny stock company "Squire Mining" looks like a nChain shell company, acquired through reverse merger.

And it could easily be a pump & dump scam, designed to capture the media hype around "blockchain, Bitcoin, ASICs".

Which wouldn't be surprising, given that nChain's Chief Scientist Craig Wright ("Fake Satoshi") is a known fraudster.

    Why go BCH over BTC?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2018 10:55 AM PDT

Hi, I got a little BCH. What reasons would you give me to keep them rather than exchange for BTC? Genuinely curious because I do not understand what the edge BCH has over BTC? Thank you.
