BTC Blockstream’s end game is now fully exposed: They first crippled Bitcoin, and now they provide the solution: Convert to “Liquid Bitcoin”. Mobile wallets are coming soon, and they will want every crypto, asset and project to run on Liquid. We predicted it.

'To leverage sidechain's features, users have to exchange mainnet BTC for Liquid Network's L-BTC using peg addresses.'

'Moving forward, Liquid hopes to expand its membership and build out its services. These services could include Issued Assets (IA), Mow explained, what amount to "native tokens within the Liquid blockchain." These IA could be security tokens, tokenized commodities/real-world assets or even Ethereum.'

'More than IA, Mow stated that Liquid has "a lot of things coming down the pipe" following its launch. These include a Liquid Testnet that is anchored to Blockstream Signet (Blockstream's testnet for Bitcoin), GreenAddress integration, a Liquid mobile wallet for mobile platforms, a user interface for Issued Assets, a Liquid Block Explorer and hardware wallet support. He expects these features to be fully functioning by 2018, with more coming in 2019.'

"The end game is a platform for the trustless exchange of many assets, with Bitcoin at the center," said Mow. "We've seen an incredible interest from parties interested to issue tokens and assets on Liquid as well. They've just been waiting for a secure and reliable solution to do so."

Ross Ulbricht has been placed in protective custody for refusing to get involved in a fight

    Posted: 11 Oct 2018 11:18 AM PDT

"Things took a dark turn for me a month ago. I'm in "the hole" in protective custody. I refused to participate in an assault which immediately turned me into a target. I'm not sure what will happen to me, but I know I made the right choice. It's never ok to initiate violence." - Ross Ulbricht on Twitter today.

This is the kind of man he is. He is not the violent, criminal mastermind some journalists portrayed.

Please consider signing his petition for clemency.

Maybe Lightning designed to never work

    Posted: 11 Oct 2018 11:13 PM PDT

This is a bit crazy, but maybe all along Blockstream knew that Lightning would never work with peer to peer routing (alot of people have already said this).

However, perhaps they also think that centralized lightning hubs won't pass regulatory scrutiny as well with KYC/AML. So what's left? The only other thing is for everyone to buy LBTC tokens and transact on their network. That would be quite the play. The only way to actually use BTC is buy their LBTC.

I know it may be a bit far out, but perhaps Lightning has been a red herring all along to get the features they needed to make Liquid work.

The surreal feeling continues--Hey if your LN payment fails I can send you an on chain transaction just like bitcoin cash. Although you'll pay a higher fee than if you just used bitcoin cash.

Btw, How exactly does Btimain profit from wormhole?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2018 11:07 PM PDT

We know that blockstream needed to cripple the main layer in order to siphon fees from miners unto themselves.

How exactly does bitmain plan to profit from wormhole? It doesnt make sense for the biggest pickaxe (asic) seller in the history of the human race, to try to siphon "some" fees from miners, and put into wormhole.

    What am I missing?

The ‘Tippening’ Day 12: I tip redditors in other subs to promote BCH adoption, here are some of my favourite tips of the day.

    Posted: 12 Oct 2018 12:51 AM PDT

Since there is not much tipping event happening right now, then I decided to continue what u/velopic been doing back then. I'm a bit of a lazy person, so I copy-pasted most this on his post. (lol, hihi)

Prologue: Reddit has millions of users per day which in my opinion has great untapped potential for bch. Tip bots such as u/tippr (don't forget to use u/chaintip as well!!) can be used to not only reward users for creating great content, but to also expose peer-to-peer currency to the masses. The best way to push adoption is to show it in action.

Here's few of the best reactions from today:

I haven't got any response to them (I'll edit some of it later if I get any response :3) but I do believe that I achieved what I have to achieve today! (Shout out to u/Last_First_, because of you I can do it again tomorrow :D )

Note: A small number subs do not allow tippr to reply to tips. The user will still receive the tip and a notification that they have be credited with Bitcoin cash. If you want to help the cause, I've compiled a list of subreddits in which tippr will respond.

You can learn more about Bitcoin cash tip bot here. (here's also the tip stats.)

An open letter to /r/btc, from Voltaire.cash

    Posted: 11 Oct 2018 12:40 PM PDT

    Hi /r/btc

6 Months ago, I dropped out of my second year at University to set out on a mission. My mission, was, and continues to be, to make peer-to-peer electronic cash payments accessible to billions worldwide.

In order for cryptocurrencies to be accepted by the mainstream, they must be spent and used as traditional monies: spending is, after all, the core function of any money. Inherently, use cases must be created to encourage spending and hence further adoption. In my attempt to build use cases, I came up with the idea to build an exchange for Bitcoin Cash.

The idea is simple: first, we launch a product with Bitcoin Cash pairs, in order to appeal to ecosystem participants. Then, we use revenue to drive adoption by building utility. This is realised in two ways:

    1. Firstly, by funding and supporting community projects, and secondly,
    2. by connecting Voltaire to the traditional banking system.

The main bottleneck of digital cash adoption is change. People don't like it, and in order to make Bitcoin Cash an attractive alternative to fiat money, the advantages of using a digital cash system must far outweigh the inconvenience of change.

The first iteration of our vision was released two weeks ago. It's a product we spent a lot of time developing, called Voltaire. It's a simple exchange where users can trade Bitcoin for Bitcoin Cash, and back (hopefully just that one way). It's something a lot of blood, sweat and tears has gone into and words can not describe how thrilled we are to finally have it out to the world.

I wanted to say a huge thank you from myself and the entire Voltaire team for believing in us throughout the past months, and to our first 500 users, who signed up during these two weeks. For those who don't know, we have no fee trading for the next 6 weeks. We've plenty new features and partnerships planned for the weeks and months ahead and can't wait to see what happens next.

I think Bitcoin is an ingenious invention, empowering people to control the monetary system like never before. Every day, we'll do our best to help make this borderless, peer-to-peer, electronic cash system be available to every person on earth.

    Semyon, founder @ Voltaire.cash

POW, POS, FBA or a Hybrid Solution – A Race for Enhanced Features

BTC Core devs admit they are working for the State "[we work] with various central banks to develop distributed fiat currency, which will be good from an interoperability perspective" (check 5:19 mark)

    Posted: 11 Oct 2018 10:10 AM PDT

Selling Bitcoin creates a downward pressure on price. Using it to buy keeps the value within its ecosystem, since an item is exchanged in equal value. If anything using it creates utility and ultimately helps value. Big difference between selling and using.

Looks like the community is allowed to give input to Tor Project developers and TAILS development. TAILS has an Electrum-BTC wallet as default software. It would be really nice for privacy and adoption to get Electron Cash added as well. Any chance of this happening?

Next time Core says BTC is "digital gold" remind them of the time the state said "give us your gold and we will give you a piece of paper that you can use at any time to redeem your gold"

    Posted: 12 Oct 2018 12:47 AM PDT

Core supporters keep iterating they will still be free to use the original base layer, but they completely ignore the fact the system itself was changed fundamentally over the years so it will gravitate towards a custodian 3rd party service - once it pushes people out of the blockchain all the network effect will be in 3rd party services and their original coins will be sendable but not spendable -- a Chinese miner may validate their tx if he wishes but with no one to care for the on-chain transaction since the clients everyone will use will only honor the Liquid service on top, and with the help of the state who will see absolutely no problem with a cryptocurrency it can control and regulate through gateskeeper it'll be back to square one: Banking 2.0.
