Posted: 04 Sep 2018 07:45 AM PDT So I've switched to HiveOS from Windows lately and finding it much more self-reliant, highly recommended for those still on Windows. Just a quick question to ask if these OC settings look okay? I've heard some say over 55 degrees could cause damage to the GPUs, and I'd like to keep them as healthy as possible. I tried undervolting, but unsure what the default voltage values are to do so, when I check using commands they show not in mV but instead BIOS values, which I don't understand as well. A GPU will drop every few hours on average but brings itself back. I'm not sure how normal this is. Specs: 6x RX 480 8gb GPUs (XMR) 4.7KH/s @ ~640w 97.5% accepted ratio 60 degrees [link] [comments]
Timing to sell rig/GPUs and cash out? Posted: 04 Sep 2018 05:58 AM PDT I've been mining ETH for the past year now and difficulty for all coins is raising across the board. My overall profitability has went from £70+/m at its height (when ETH price was higher as well) to ~£20/m profit for XMR mining after electricity (£0.12/KWH). Still worth mining but if I wait too long to sell I'm worried it'll be too late and no one will want the rigs/cards. If I sell now I could make back a chunk of my money (bought for ~£1800, maybe sell for £1200-1500) and throw it into crypto while rigs are still somewhat in demand, for the people out there not paying electricity, it would be a much better cash cow for them as well. The biggest reason not to sell right now is knowing that the market could easily return to its former glory (ETH-> ~4x its current price/roughly same for XMR) or even surpass it any time soon and see it as an investment, but even then it would take at least 1 year to mine the amount I could make back by selling now: Assuming XMR -> 5x current value in the next year, profitibility per month averages at £100/m*12=£1200 So I could keep mining for the next year and by that point the rig might be worthless to sell - although then I could use it as a gaming computer I guess. What do you guys think? Do you have plans to sell your rigs while they're still in value? [link] [comments]
ETH becoming too difficult to mine, what next? XMR? Nicehash? BTCZ? Posted: 04 Sep 2018 05:42 AM PDT I've been mining ethereum with 6x Radeon RX 480 8GBs but now the difficulty for mining ETH is high and other coins are more profitable now. XMR is the next obvious one, as well as Nicehash. I saw someone in here say BTCZ is currently one of the most profitable although WhatToMine doesn't give the right calculations. Is this true, and can someone back it up? I don't see BTCZ ever mooning at this rate with its market cap dropping 5x since its height and there's a good chance it could drop into the abyss of the thousands of shitcoins out there, but if it's the most profitable it can still be traded. Also are there any coins you speculate mine, hoping for an increase in price? I'm getting 162MH/s with Ethash and 4700h/s CryptonightV7 [link] [comments]
