    • This is for high quality discussion of altcoins. All shilling or obvious pumping/dumping behavior will result in an immediate one day ban. This is your only warning.

Korean Insurance Company Providing Hack Insurance for Exchanges

    Posted: 03 Sep 2018 05:52 AM PDT

    Just reported in thenews.asia

Korea-based Hanwha Insurance plans to begin sales of hack insurance for money stolen due to cyber crime on crypto exchanges this month.

The insurance rate will be based on the risk generated by an exchange. The amount of risk will be determined by the insurance company and a reinsurance company in cooperation with exchanges. The type of hack insurance currently provided in Korea only compensates for the leakage of personal information. The new product will also compensate for damages caused by a loss of digital assets.

The new hack insurance is a great step toward setting more stringent security standards for exchanges. If hack insurance becomes mandatory or even just prevalent in the industry, exchanges wishing to stay profitable would need to find ways to shore up security breaches in their platforms in order to pay lower premiums on their insurance. Assuming the insurance is not prohibitively expensive nor provides sub-par compensation, it should be a product every exchange carries.

Advise: if you usually withdraw from Kraken to a Fidor bank account, don't open a second Kraken account

    Posted: 03 Sep 2018 12:37 AM PDT

As many probably know, transfers in/out from/to Kraken and Fidor are mostly instant, as Kraken bank account is also on Fidor. It just takes few minutes, at any hour, everyday (even Sunday/Saturday, and during night)

My first Kraken account was countinuasly blocked by the kraken security system, because of the many failed login attempts from bots/hackers.

I had obviusly the 2FA enabled, so none of them was able to login, but still Kraken was disabling my account.

So the kraken support service suggested me to open a new kraken account, with a new username, and I did it.

    What is the problem?

Now every my deposit/withdraw request will have "On hold" status, and it will require manual execution from the customer service (and this can take hours/days), because they said that they need to manually check all the balances between the two accounts to see if the user overpass his in/out limits.

Asking to delete/close the first kraken account doesn't fix this.

So, if you like the fast way of withdrawing from Kraken to Fidor, never ask to open a second account on Kraken :P

Should I close my Bitstamp account?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2018 10:16 AM PDT

    Hello,

I can see a large group of people complaining about Bitstamp and about their bad new practice and support and about the fact that they are closing accounts left and right without replying to support.

If you are curious, just check the /r/Bitstamp/new/ sub-reddit and see it for yourself... This, to me, smells like Poloniex / Cryptsy

Although this is not a huge number of complaints, should I be worried and close my Bitstamp account?

PS: I can't seem to find another good reputable exchange with same type of advance trading options apart from Coinbase which I don't really like...

Shorts Surge as Bitcoin Tag $7500, Longs Keep Declining

    Posted: 03 Sep 2018 05:06 AM PDT

If the bulls remain in control despite the pressure and manage to once again squeeze the shorts out of position then we could see immediate support (at $7200) hold with the price auctioning up the current balance and testing $7600 by the end of the week.

However if the bears were to gain the upper hand then we'll likely see a H&S form on the daily which would probably confirm that this last move from $6500 to $7500 was yet another dead cat bounce.

    What's your take traders?
