    • Discussion related to recent events
    • Technical analysis, trading ideas & strategies
    • General questions about altcoins

    Thread guidelines:

    • Be excellent to each other.
    • All regular rules for this subreddit apply, except for number 2. This, and only this, thread is exempt from the requirement that all discussion must relate to bitcoin trading.
    • This is for high quality discussion of altcoins. All shilling or obvious pumping/dumping behavior will result in an immediate one day ban. This is your only warning.
    • No discussion about specific ICOs. Established coins only.

If you're not sure what kind of discussion belongs in this thread, here are some example posts. News, TA, and sentiment analysis are great, too.

Made Cryptocurrency Indices Anyone Can Invest In - AMA

    Posted: 28 Sep 2018 07:40 AM PDT

TLDR: Made cryptocurrency indices anyone can invest in. There is no account minimum and no % management fee. All you need is a Binance account.

I'm a big believer in passive investing & indices. As a cryptocurrency investor, I was pretty upset to see that there weren't any good options to index the entire market.

Most available solutions have at least one of these issues.

    1. Restricted to accredited investors (Coinbase Index)
    2. Didn't track the market well (C20 token price fluctuates around NAV. No mechanism to remove premium)
    3. Liquidity issues - no way to exit the market quickly

I came up with a slightly different solution. You use a Binance account to mirror the market index. It rebalances every week so your portfolio is consistent with the index. Since it's on your account, you retain control of the underlying assets. You can exit whenever.

Obviously the biggest risk here is leaving your assets on an exchange. But a ton of people are doing that already and Binance has proven themselves to be on the most reliable & security-conscious exchanges.

Currently there are 4 different indices available:

If you don't like any of the indices, you can also create your own custom portfolio, backtest, and execute it with any of the 350+ coins on Binance

Why can't I place both a limit and a stop loss orders?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2018 10:50 PM PDT

On Bitfinex once I place a stop order above the price I shorted, those funds are no longer available to place a limit order below the short price.

Why? Isn't that the whole point, to make sure that there is both an upper and lower limit to loss and profit so that I don't have to be glued to the screen following the price myself?
