This subreddit has really gone downhill. Rename it to /r/CryptoNews because any actual user or company post is constantly downvoted to oblivion

    Posted: 16 Sep 2018 12:10 AM PDT

This will probably be a great example of what I mean. If you really scan this subreddit, any post by either a company, a real project, or a self post is always downvoted.

But only news articles maintain high upvotes. Half of the users here think every fucking post is a scam... It's bullshit.

Literally one of the worst subreddits for user discussion or user feedback.

Go look around at the most downvoted comments, half of them are actual people with actual responses like

"Looks really nice" -19 downvotes when a user is complimenting some new app.

    Yet you find posts like

"Your obviously too young for this and possibly retarded" +55 upvotes.

This place is utter trash at this point.

We get it, you lost money, but no need to shit on every single person.

Cryptocurrencies are becoming popular, but most people still can't understand whether they're a means of exchange or a store of value. We're still a long way from mass adoption, mainly because no one can agree on whether its use cases are needed or not.

    CryptoCurve's Nuke Button

    Posted: 16 Sep 2018 01:32 AM PDT

In this Post I'm going to be going through the Nuke button feature offered by CryptoCurve.

Now imagine the market is about to turn sour the same way it had recently, and you're on the tip of the edge of the first red candle in the total market cap.

Your portfolio is spread out on 6 different exchanges. Consisting of both Decentralized and Centralized exchanges with an authenticator each. You want to liquidate your folio back to a stablecoin/BTC/ETH to protect yourself. But clearly time is money here and you can't avoid any delays.

Here's where the Nuke feature comes in:

It allows you to liquidate a percentage (or all) of your portfolio into Ethereum, Bitcoin, or a Stablecoin with a click of a button. This will save you during bear breaks and sharp corrections. Nuking your folio saves a 'Snapshot' of your portfolio prior to 'Nuking' so that once there appears to be a glimpse of market recovery or support strike, you can 'buy-back' your portfolio proportional to your original holdings.

What do you guys think about this feature… Would you use it?

I just thought of a use case for blockchain

    Posted: 15 Sep 2018 08:26 AM PDT

I'm sure there could be projects out there similar to this, so I'm sure I'll get flamed for this post, but in the scientific/medical research world it's hard to believe what any papers real motive is. For Example: Is this drug really harmless, or was the research funded by a pharma company? I come from the scientific world and it's come to a point where I don't believe peer reviewed scientific journals anymore due to the massive amount of corruption (the group who paid for the research want the outcome to go a certain way, otherwise funding is cut).

If there is a distributed and transparent system for funding scientific research, where the money can be tracked and validated, I think this is going to be HUGE for research. For example, for tax reasons many people need/want to make donations. They could donate to this fund, and be 100% sure of where the funding was going and grants them access to vote on which topic/field of research the funds would be utilized for.

Burst Transactions over HAM radio, Crypto over a mesh, Self-sustainable Mobile miner

Last night (CET time) a tweet from u/nixops, one of the Burst community developers, announced this transaction completed on the Burst blockchain without having a device connected to the power supply network or the internet.

The equipment used: mobile Burst miner and a Kenwood TH-D72A radio transmitter, powered by solar energy.

    Burst-radio

Further tests covering the distance between San Jose and San Diego are planned for the coming week.

While this is not the first crypto transaction on a blockchain realized through radio, it is the first truly self-sustainable system prototype of a disaster relief kit that can be used for distribution of funds and information into disaster or war stricken areas.
