    Advice for these daring times.

    Posted: 07 Aug 2018 03:01 PM PDT

I know it is never easy to see your holdings in the red (and for some... Very red), but go back to the fundamentals. Has ANYTHING negative happened to XRP over the past few months? No, of course not. Sure, there still be a cloud over XRP regarding the SEC, but this has been around for months, not just something that has happened over the past few days.

We are reaching the same Market Cap of Bitcoin Cash. Does this, in any single way, make sense? Of course not. XRP is riiiight around the corner of being used on a GLOBAL scale, by at least 1 major bank, while Bitcoin Cash is right around the corner of doing uhhh.... Nothing.

There are many theories at to why we are now dropping. It could be the Bear Whale who has returned to offload some XRP, it could be Institutional players who are pushing the price down to enter the market (they would have learned from the Dot Com bubble) or it could be a falling of investor confidence, leading to weak hands selling.

But one thing I highly recommend. Try not to sell. Just as nobody knows the peak, nobody knows the bottom. The bull run of last year happened instantly. Imagine selling tonight, going to bed prepared to buy lower in the morning, to find that XRP leaped 20% overnight. You would be absolutely kicking yourself. Imagine holding Apple, or Google (Alphabet) or Amazon shares at the early stage. Imagine being so far into the red, you sold to 'get some money back'. Forget about the companies for a few years, only to find out that you would have been rewarded for staying strong in those tough times.

Keep your heads high. Believe it or not, you are still early. Good luck.

    Edit: Not financial advice..

    Posted: 07 Aug 2018 04:00 AM PDT

Ripple just added another Validator that isnt supported by them. The last month they added week for week new ones and now Ripple is „controlling" 57% of the Validators.

I can see the improvement of Decentralization!

Lets guess the SEC will make an official statement after falling below 50%

Reasonable to buy stock in companies partnering with Ripple and using XRP?

    Posted: 07 Aug 2018 11:13 AM PDT

If they end up partnering with Ripple and using xRapid to cut costs, they should be way more profitable, increasing revenue and earnings. For these reasons, wouldn't it make sense to buy stock in companies like Banco Santander and American Express?

    XRPL - Transaction Type: PaymentChannelClaim

    Posted: 06 Aug 2018 04:45 AM PDT

    Hey guys and girls,

As some as you may or may not know, there is an XRPL Monitor on Twitter that monitors major transactions on the XRPL. On here, you can see Escrow creations and transfers, from the millions to the billions of XRP.

Throughout the day/night, the XRPL has been constantly updating on a Transaction Type called 'PaymentChannelClaim' (https://twitter.com/XRPL_Monitor/status/1026427572656263168). By using the Find function, there are around 130 PaymentChannelClaim transactions that have occurred. Each transaction has an amount of around 4,030 XRP. Even as I am typing now, new PaymentChannelClaim transactions are constantly being made.

Someone on Twitter is saying that it is Coinone (South Korean Exchange) is behind these transactions, but is unsure why they are doing so many small transactions.

Searching Ripple's development portal for Payment Channels, this can be found - https://developers.ripple.com/use-payment-channels.html. " Payment Channels are an advanced feature for sending "asynchronous" XRP payments that can be divided into very small increments and settled later."

Further to this, on XRPChat, Nik Bougalis, who is currently leading Ripple's C++ team, states this - " Say you are a social media expert and I agree to pay you 1 XRP for every tweet you make about me. Sending you payments 1 XRP at a time isn't a good use of my XRP or of the network in general. Instead what I do is I open a payment channel. You tell me you expect to tweet no more than 500 times. So I open my channel with a 500 XRP balance. That XRP is removed from my account and is transferred into the payment channel. Now every time I see a tweet from you, I send you (off-ledger) a signed receipt that authorizes you to "settle" the amount of XRP I owe you. You can claim the amount at any time by submitting a transaction with the receipt. You keep tweeting and I keep sending you receipts. Once you're done, you take the latest receipt, submit a transaction to rippled, and say "here's a receipt that allows me to take <amount> XRP from this trust line. Give it to me!". Rippled will examine the payment channel and the receipt for validity and transfer the XRP to you. " (Edit: https://www.xrpchat.com/topic/2109-payment-channels-discussioninfo/)

Doing some more research, it seems that Payment Channels are an important factor in Codius (which is pretty telling by just reading the above quote - It is a smart contract).

Without trying to be too speculative, does anyone have any ideas why (assuming it is Coinone) Coinone would :

1/ Be creating a Payment Channel Claim &

2/ Be creating so many Payment Channel Claims.

From EU, better alternative to Coinbase+Binance for XRP purchases?

    Posted: 06 Aug 2018 02:55 AM PDT

Hi. I live in a EU country, and have so far bought and HODLing XRP by buying ETH on Coinbase, sent them to my Binance account, and there traded ETH for XRP and then sent the XRP to my cold storage/paper wallet.

But it's been a couple of months since last time, and I hear that there are more options now for buying XRP directly.

So, could anyone recommend me a good Coinbase alternative, that would let med buy XRP directly without too high fees, and from there send the bought XRP to my cold storage/paper wallet?

I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

    Just a random Idea

    Posted: 06 Aug 2018 08:18 AM PDT

I'm not technical at all but I feel like it would be possible to create some kind of smart contract or for a company to utilize my XRP to further allow liquidity for use in the ecosystem and pay me a small fee over time?

Would that be possible? Almost like how interest from the bank works but instead of risking it they are using it to push along remittances and what not. Idk if because the fees are so low it just wouldn't even make sense to do that because for it to make sense somebody would have to be paid more than the cost to send XRP in the first place?

Just a random thought, feel free to flame.

What determines the amount of the transfer fee?

    Posted: 06 Aug 2018 12:33 AM PDT

Does anyone know what determines the amount of the transfer fee? I've seen many transactions here, and all of them have different transfer fees - sometimes it's just a few drops, sometimes is a whole XRP! I'd be really worried if the transaction fee gets to a point of 1 XRP when the actual price of 1 XRP is $589+.

    Any ideas?
