    Presenting Lite.IM

    Lite.IM

Today we are pleased to announce the release of our first contribution to the Litecoin community movement -- Lite.IM. This is the first of many Litecoin projects we at Zulu Republic have been hard at work on. A safe and simple, full-featured conversational Litecoin wallet for the Telegram platform. With a serverless infrastructure and lightweight code base, we can ensure scalability, high availability, and security. Lite.IM is a BIP39, BIP32, and BIP44 compliant wallet service capable of being imported into any modern Litecoin wallet, and it creates Segwit P2SH-P2WPKH (M prefix) Litecoin addresses.

Private keys are RSA encrypted with the user's password, and can only be unlocked on the fly when a user makes a secure request with their password provided. We do not store passwords in any form, nor will we ever store an unencrypted copy of your private data.

We've even gone ahead and opened our source with a Creative Commons license for developers and enthusiasts alike. For more information, and to browse the source code, please visit the official repository.

Checkout the website at https://www.lite.im and be sure to try out the bot on Telegram at https://telegram.me/LiteIM_bot.

That's all for now. We look forward to sharing more new and exciting projects with you soon.

    Revolut UK/Ireland alternative.

    Posted: 09 Aug 2018 03:36 AM PDT

    Hey all,

    This is for UK/Ireland investors!

I'm sure some of you have realised by now that "Revolut" have banned transactions to and from some of the major exchanges, this may have become a problem that has left a few of you looking for an alternative method to fund or withdraw from your preferred exchange.

    Explanation/Solution:

Sign up for a "Fire" bank account (Fire.com) based in Ireland (UK/Ireland residents only) and get your account verified.

Steps to get money to a banned exchange:

Continue to use Revolut as normal (Send money from your personal account) and convert to euro's within Revolut.

(Revolut offers a better exchange rate and has no fee for conversion unlike fire bank)

Send your currency to your Fire bank euro account using Revolut. Be sure you have entered your Fire bank IBAN and BIC correctly within Revolut.

Wait to receive your funds from Revolut into your Fire euro account, this may take a few hours at most in my experience.

Once you have received the money into your Fire euro account you can proceed to send it to the exchange of your choice!

Remember to set up the exchange you wish to send money to as a "Payee" within Fire bank, there is no need to enter the BIC code as Fire only requires an account name, IBAN and a name to save the "Payee" as within the fire account, the BIC will be filled in automatically!

Once you wish to send your funds to the exchange remember to enter your "Reference" code as a "Note" in Fire banks transfer.

(Bank transfers in euro are processed each business day at 9:30am and 1:30pm. Sterling bank transfers are processed at 9:00am and 4:00pm on business days)

Internal transfers between same currency "Fire" accounts are completed instantly. Internal transfers to another currency account (e.g. transferring from a Fire euro account to a Fire sterling account) are also instant!

    Withdrawal:

To withdraw, just use the same process as funding but in reverse, Revolut still has no fee for exchanging back to your desired fiat currency unlike Fire. Make sure Revolut is set up as a "Payee" within Fire!

    That's everything!

Hope I helped some of you out, this is going to be a crazy few years.

    OpenCAP needs Litecoin!!

    Posted: 08 Aug 2018 09:24 PM PDT

OpenCAP is an alias protocol created to compete with things like Namecoin and OpenAlias, which aren't really used or adopted well. OpenCAP is an easy to implement REST protocol that allows people to run their own servers so that they can use aliases instead of addresses when they want.

For example, you can be payed at name@website.com instead of l1i0ad78fspfiadfjdifsd8faud9fpsdufspfasdfui or whatever.

There are a couple advantages to using an alias:

    1. An alias is easy to remember, and can be communicated verbally.
    2. When an OpenCAP wallet does a lookup for an address, then routes a payment to that address, there is no room for a copy/paste hack or typo.
    3. One alias can relate to many addresses (P2PKH, P2SH, Bech32, or even other coins) In other words, the sender can choose how to pay the receiver based on what kinds of coins/address types the receiver accepts.
    4. Aliases don't need to change, but the addresses that are associated with it can update dynamically. For instance, in litecoin it is considered good practice to use a new address for each transaction, OpenCAP allows this to happen easily.
    5. Aliases provide a natural way for apps to intercommunicate "contact lists". For instance, in the future I could see some sort of "import" feature where facebook allows you to associate your alias, and it can be imported into your friend's wallets.

Take a look at the protocol on github. I have a server ready to go that will be free to use for everyone, I just don't want to launch it until enough other devs have reviewed the protocol and we have tweaked it to be able to call it v1.0.0. If you like the idea reach out to your favorite wallet devs and let them know to take a look. We need litecoin wallets integrating in order for it to be a success!
