    Zen Goes Back in Time

    Posted: 09 Aug 2018 03:00 AM PDT

    Hey there fellow miners,

As most of us know (If not all), Zen is using the SHA-3 mining algorithm, which is the newest SHA version.

But of course as we also know, a lot of the miners prefer and stick to SHA-2, or just go with a whole different road (i.e ASIC).

Fortunately, Zen already announced that they're going to adapt to other algorithms in the next revision (Called Yesod, a term from the Jewish Kabbalah), so the options are on the table: What will they go with next? Will they go and favor the SHA-2 players? A decision like this can be big, considering this is the algorithm that's used for Bitcoin mining - A whole new audience can use its gear for a totally different coin that can earn a lot from a move like that.

As for ASIC, we can get a similar effect from litecoin miners, and the list goes on - Same with ETH-hash, scrypt etc. With that, we get a lot of options and possibilities, along with allowing miners to easily mine Zen without the need to replace their hardware, a move that can cost dearly in terms of money and time.

As for now, Zen will be one of the only coins if not the only one that will allow mining using various algorithms, and that alone makes a new way for miners - A way where they can take their time and decide if they should invest towards a new mining algorithm, and actually demand to get a version that'll be suitable for them. It may not work, but it definitely created a whole new situation in the crypto world - And that itself is a blessed thing to know.

What do you guys think? Which algorithm will Zen adapt to? How it will affect other coins in that matter?

BitPoolMining mining pool and remote monitoring app https://www.bitpoolmining.com

We are a group of 4 software developers that are all miners. We decided to use our development background to start a pool and slowly add features that we wanted to see in other pools. Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We have also built an open source GPU mining/monitoring software app that we call BPM https://bitpoolmining.com/bpm. Our goal has been to build cool software and to help the community whenever we can. We set out to build software for 'one click mining' that can help ease setup for new/small miners and also provide tools powerful enough for mining farms. We are a new and super tiny pool right now, be we are not going anywhere anytime soon.

Some pics of our BPM GPU Monitor app:

    Pool details:

    • Payouts every 15 minutes
    • Minimum payout 0.05
    • 0.5% fee
    • Anonymous mining
    • Live Shares display on your miner page – no long wait periods to see your miners mining
    • Clean and modern interface in browser and on mobile
    • Configurable SMS phone text alert system to tell you if a miner goes down
    • Enterprise grade servers and active tech support
    • US based servers with new nodes added soon
    • Active development with a long list of features on our roadmap

    BPM GPU monitor app details:

    • Open source and 0% fees
    • Anonymous mining
    • Real time remote monitoring for all your GPU's including temps, hashrate, power, etc
    • Forecasts from whattomine using your actual hashrate and actual earnings, converted to your fiat of choice
    • Support for GPU farms
    • Remote monitoring from our website/mobile

edit: full disclosure, I am one of the pool owners, developer and operator.

    Skorch Token Mining

    Posted: 08 Aug 2018 09:45 PM PDT

Skorch is the first ERC20 token that incorporates Proof of Work and Proof of Stake token. Distribution of Skorch is done with either successfully solving solutions in the form of mining or from rewards from staking. There is no developer fee in either the mining or staking as well as no premine, all Skorch earned is going to the miner/staker. We are developing series of applications which will incorporate Skorch. These include a social media platform with built in in-game item marketplace and web brower with vpn. We rely heavily on our community for opinions and support. Please join us at our reddit page r/SkorchToken or our discord https://discord.gg/p3Wd2ES to learn more.

PSA - casulty: broken fins on cooler fan- how to fix without replacing..ZERO COST PENALTY.

    Posted: 08 Aug 2018 08:03 AM PDT

had an AMD card which lost a couple of fins, dropped a screw driver whilst working on another rig and it bounced straight off the fan. lost two fins on one of the dual fans. was shaking itself to death. very easy fix, just break off two fins from the opposite side of the fan to balance it. now its running again, just with 4 fins less. temps are about the same and maybe very very slightly louder where it has to spin harder to move the air as its 4 fins short. works though. that is all.
