Most important BTC/fiat markets (bitcoinity asking for help) Posted: 04 Aug 2018 03:38 AM PDT Hi, I run bitcoinity.org. I have been somewhat out of the loop lately and I wanted to update list of markets. I'm not a trader, and I don't really trust volume as a measure of how given market is popular (which is why r/bitcoinmarkets helped me coming up with a ranking system), so your feedback is very valuable to me. Could you provide any suggestions what market pairs should be added? Preferably one exchange per comment so that upvotes can be utilized. Lately I noticed hitbtc climbed up in the rank, but if I'm checking their website correctly, they seemed to have silently switched from USD to USDT? I need to make sure, but I did not change any API endpoint on my side, so if they did that, that would be pretty lame thing to do and definitely a reason to get rid of them from my site. In general, while I may add it in the future, currently I'm only interested in BTC/fiat (USD, CNY, EUR etc.) pairs. USDT is an altcoin to me and while (as long as nothing hits the fan) BTC/USD may be highly correlated with BTC/USDT, I prefer not to mix them. So I'm not interested in USDT pairs for now. Other suggestions are also welcome but I want to focus on updating markets first. Big thanks. I try to do my own research but any data from you will be very helpful. edit: btw, I considered idea of collecting some basic data about exchanges (mostly what people are behind it and where is it registered), maybe list of outages, hacks or when was it created - maybe somebody already did that and I just suck at finding it? Even when there is no info about people or company behind given exchange if that's in some public place then they can either provide it or we have a clear explicit info that they don't want to. It's less of a problem with exchanges trading fiat but it's still not always obvious. [link] [comments] |
If you're whale looking to make large orders, why not margin on 100x? Posted: 04 Aug 2018 10:13 AM PDT If you were a mid sized whale interested in buying or selling 1M+ USD worth of bitcoin. Why wouldn't you also make a 100x margin trade on BitMex before your trade since you could easily swing the market 1%+ in your favor? Would that 1+% market slip still be out-weighted from potentially buying OTC? I've never used BitMex before, so what risks am I not thinking of when a whale is already intending on making a large transaction that would move the price in one direction? It would seem your 100x leveraged bet would almost be guaranteed to win if you initiate it right before your large market order? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Aug 2018 02:46 PM PDT Submit your response here: https://thegreatcryptocurrencysurvey.typeform.com/to/YVnLmA A little bit more about this, I work with a writer and research team that is working on an article about what is most important, troubling and need-to-know for traders and investors in the ecosystem. I am hoping that this survey will be able to shed some light on those questions and also hope it will be a bit of fun for everyone to see the results. Thanks for taking 20 seconds out of your day to contribute guys and gals. [link] [comments] |
CoinMarketCap displays wrong price of Bitcoin due to error! Posted: 03 Aug 2018 01:20 PM PDT The error in CoinMarketCap just made a lot of people think they were rich for a few minutes. BTC shot upto $8500 and lot of other smaller coins was 10x the price and then everything came crashing down after few minutes..lol.. Looks like the price page on Humble Oracle didn't have any errors, plus it gives you a nice Tradingview graph for bitcoin. I've been using it regularly to check prices of crypto. Enjoy! : [link] [comments] |
I asked Coinbase Pro why I couldn't BTC/USD. Now I am told to leave the exchange. Posted: 03 Aug 2018 03:59 PM PDT I signed up for Coinbase Pro for the zero maker fees. I did the verification and got access to the exchange. Then I see the message "BTC/USD trading is not yet available in your region." So I mailed them, and they just replied saying "Due to regulatory compliance mechanisms, we are no longer able to support your Coinbase account as well as any other accounts you may have created. We unfortunately are unable to elaborate on our internal decision process." I am in the US. Can US people not trade on Coinbase? [link] [comments] |
US Citizen looking for a trustworthy BTC/USD exchange with large volumes and no maker fees. Posted: 03 Aug 2018 02:22 PM PDT I am currently trading BTC/USDT on Binance. It's great so far; large volumes, low fees, and seems trustworthy. However, I like to trade in and out within an hour or two. The fees make it hard to trade in and out quick enough to cover the fees. I can profit on my trades, but I have to wait a lot longer so I can cover the trading fees. I have been trying to find other exchanges with no maker fees. But I keep getting blocked on these other exchanges because I am in the US. Does anyone know of any exchanges for me? To clarify what I am looking for. I want to trade BTC/USD. I want an exchange known for being trustworthy with funds. An exchange with large volumes would be great for liquidity purposes. And then, no maker fees. [link] [comments] |
Market update August 3rd - Is bitcoin building momentum for another bull run? Posted: 03 Aug 2018 05:15 PM PDT Market update: After weeks of bullish movements and a high of $8,500, bitcoin is now experiencing a pull back to the $7,300 support level. This is not a surprise as the RSI level was overbought on the daily chart over a week ago. Compared to 3 weeks ago, BTC is still up by 19%. [link] [comments] |
