Is anybody trying to pretend that crypto is not the future?

    Posted: 07 Aug 2018 04:24 PM PDT

Im drunk but im so fking sick of seeing people waiting for an ETF or some fucking bullish news. Isnt it clear that crypto is the stupid future? Are we fucking stupid going to keep on going through banks and stupid middleman that inflate prices and create crisis to pay for our things. Fuck them!

The funniest thing is that nothing happened

    Posted: 08 Aug 2018 01:07 AM PDT

First of all we already knew that the Bitcoin ETF would not be approved on the first date.

Second, the news we had last month are phenomenal.

The price now is lower than before the ETF was filed which is lol.

Everyone is selling for no reason because they think everyone will sell for no reason. Basically everyone thinks that everyone else thinks that that everyone else is irrational.

Why you should stop paying attention to/ Obsessing over the ETF

    Posted: 07 Aug 2018 04:59 PM PDT

While the ETF would bring in much greater and accelerated adoption it bothers me how fixated this subreddit has become on it. We just had a Massive rally in the months leading up to last December, and people forget that and just look at December as the sole big run up. It's great to want to see bitcoin become adopted but it's still absorbing the last price spike and fixating on the ETF is driving both bullish and bearish crypto-mania. Both the people screaming moon and crash to zero are speaking the loudest currently and this kind of nonsense price hype has bastardized the space to a point where news of a delay makes us break a dangerously important support line. I have a news flash: the delay was imminent. See below:

Historically, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has been reluctant towards approving ETFs based on emerging assets and commodities. In the case of Bitcoin, as seen in the rejection of the SolidX Bitcoin ETF and the Winklevoss Bitcoin ETF in 2017 and 2018, the SEC does not prefer to publicly disclose their decision until the final deadline, regardless of the outcome of their internal discussion.

Hence, although the VanEck-SolidX Bitcoin ETF and the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) Bitcoin ETF are said to have a high probability of being approved by the U.S. SEC, the commission will not publicly disclose its decision until the final deadline, February of 2019.

I know this is a news hub but every other post on the front page is about the ETF and people buying in. While the adoption that you should be looking for is based on all of the progress being made. you don't have to advertise something that works. Bitcoin right now is like email in the 80's, only 2% of the world understands it even slightly and even less know how to operate it. I'm sure this will get downvotes because I'm standing on a soapbox complaining, but I just want people to open their eyes and see what's happening right in front of them. Use a smart contract, download Brave browser and use BAT tokens, do bounties for rewards, join telegrams of projects, run a node for dividends, ask your coffee barista to accept crypto, give product feedback for Betas, USE the product it's amazing what's out there if you stop staring at the News all day. usage will drive innovation and innovation will drive REAL adoption, not this hype moon crap. Lead by example, ignore the news ignore the hype. If you actually give two shits about the tech, that shouldn't be hard

thanks for reading , I don't do TLDRs

It’s never been so easy to create and publish content to large audiences. However, it's never been so easy to access content without having to pay for it. With the right use of Blockchain technology, there will be no need for intermediaries such as Apple, Amazon or Netflix to distribute content.

My Metamask has disappeared on Chrome and been replaced with a warning. A medium post seems to suggest it's an update (https://medium.com/metamask/metamask-monthly-august-8b409c3fa18).

Anybody do the update and have it working?

PLEASE READ: What beginners need to know about the crypto market + 4 types of people in crypto

    Posted: 07 Aug 2018 08:27 PM PDT

I've been observing the reactions to this market and how rocky it has been. Please read this, especially if you're fairly new to the game.

    I've come to realize that there are 4 kinds of people in crypto;

    A. The "quick money scheme" person

    B. The believer in the technology associated with Blockchain and it's revolutionary effect on our system of exchanging data and wealth

    C. The "noob" who is new to this space and legitimately wants to learn

    D. The Hater... or Mr FUD as I say (Relentlessly bashing on excellent projects by calling them shitcoins in the daily discussion threads or other things of that nature)

For the quick money schemer, (A), they are divided into two categories :

    1. The "I want to invest $100 and have a Lambo in 6 months" (unrealistic) person

    2. The "send me .2BTC and I'll send you 2BTC in 48hrs" person, better known as a scammer that preys on the newcomer and ill-informed

For the believer, (B) one thing rings true:

I am in this in order to be a part of something bigger than myself. Is there money to be made? Sure. But when they technology supersedes the fiat market we use to get involved in this, FIAT will no longer be an issue or a topic of discussion. We are building the future.

    For the "noob" (newcomer/C):

    1. Welcome
    2. We have all been in your shoes at some point
    3. Be careful and question everthing
    4. Be safe online when dealing exchanges, wallets, etc....this is your money at stake. Take all necessary precautions. I cannot stress this enough.
    5. If you don't know the answer to something, ask. And once you have that answer, ask someone else and verify.
    • firewalls
    • antivirus
    • anti malware
    • 2fa
    • strong passwords
    • written seeds/logins/passwords
    • VPN
    • secure connections to sites
    • make sure you use legitimate links
    • etc... etc...

Now that only leaves The Hater (D) ... Mr FUD

    1. We have enough FUD being spread online by the media, governments, and banks...we don't need more from this community.
    2. FUD spreads like wildfire...it's dangerous
    3. If you believe in what this market and system means, you wouldn't be saying certain things
    4. If you don't like what you are seeing, then maybe you aren't ready to continue this journey (investing, learning, etc)
    5. Don't ruin it for newcomers
    6. Everyone has made mistakes
    7. *** Crypto is still in its infancy
    8. *** If you were around to see BTC fall from $19,600 to $10,500 in a matter of days, then $7400 to $6500 is a cake-walk
    9. Many people are in the "red"... but if you are still seeing your portfolio in terms of FIAT amount, then you aren't seeing the bigger picture and are not immersed in the technology side of it as much as you claim
    10. If you don't want to continue on this journey, then simply don't.

Everyone is going through different points on this roller coaster. Some of us have been in crypto for a long time...we have seen worse, and we know that we will be just fine. We adapt, buy the dip if we can, and wait. We take the time to learn TA, to ask good questions and prepare for the next roller coaster ride.

For newcomers, I'm very jealous. Learn as much as you can before even investing a single penny. Don't jump the gun and don't take simply one person's advice or opinion as gold, including mine if you ask me for anything. Everyone has different experiences, different levels of knowledge about the market and TA...and we have all made mistakes.

I didn't mean for this to be a rant, I just thought I'd voice my point of view on what I've seen the last 13 hours and what I expect to see until we have our next bull run.

Good luck and be safe. Peace.
