    Posted: 01 Aug 2018 05:09 AM PDT

    Hi Bitcoiners!

I'm back with the nineteenth monthly Bitcoin news recap.

For those unfamiliar, each day I pick out the most popular/relevant/interesting stories in r/Bitcoin and save them. At the end of the month I release them in one batch, to give you a quick (but not necessarily the best) overview of what happened in bitcoin over the past month.

You can see recaps of the previous months on Bitcoinsnippets.com

SQUARE and their Cash App are great for bitcoin's growth, but we need them to utilize batching and segwit ASAP

    Posted: 04 Aug 2018 01:04 PM PDT

Jack Dorsey (Twitter and Square's CEO) seems to be a die hard bitcoin supporter. However, Cash App doesn't appear to utilize batching nor segwit. Before we can really start recommending Cash App to the world, we need Jack to walk the walk and do what's best for bitcoin by implementing batching and segwit amongst his services.

Yes, if you do not control your own keys, it's not really your bitcoin. However, the coinbases and cash apps of the world do serve a purpose to those that are currently unskilled with bitcoin security. History has shown us that coinbase does not have bitcoin's best interest in mind. However, due to user pressure, they are currently utilizing batching and segwit.

@Jack, @square, and @cashapp, please make this a priority and give us an ETA. I'm sure many within the community are ready to lend a helping hand with these upgrades.
