XRP Ledger payment very high volume Posted: 06 Jun 2018 04:18 PM PDT The volume is very high today, currently at 807 million for 24 hours. Usually the 24 hour volume runs to less than 100 million. It looks like x-Rapid tests going on in any bank. This is a possible hypothesis. https://xrpcharts.ripple.com/#/ [link] [comments]

Kuwait Finance House is Second Kuwaiti Bank to Join RippleNet! Posted: 06 Jun 2018 01:51 PM PDT Another Kuwaiti bank has joined RippleNet, as announced by Ripple. The domino effect is upon us!... With so many banks and FIs signing up to use Ripple products it's only a matter of time before major adoption happens. XRPtheStandard[link] [comments]
Our path to listing SEC-regulated crypto securities Posted: 06 Jun 2018 09:20 PM PDT Does this announcement clear the way for coinbase to sell XRP even if it is declared a security by the SEC? https://blog.coinbase.com/our-path-to-listing-sec-regulated-crypto-securities-a1724e13bb5a Especially this bit: "There are now many types of blockchain-based digital assets, from cryptocurrencies to security tokens to collectibles. In the United States, some of these assets will be subject to SEC oversight. With this in mind, securing these licenses will bring us a step closer to our goal, which is to be the most trusted way for our customers to buy, sell, and use many different types of crypto assets." Posted: 06 Jun 2018 03:48 PM PDT So I will preface this by stating I'm not the most IT inclined guy, but I do have the resources to learn and set up a server from home to act as a Codius host. I have a couple questions that someone with better understanding of Codius could probably help with. -What is the benefit of being a host? Both to the community and for the selfish reasons. -What kind of energy consumption would I be looking at, i.e. will this be a bitcoin mining situation where I'm blowing my powerbill and not really seeing decent returns to justify it? -What kind of maintenance would you be looking at? Is this a matter of setting it up, leaving it on, and letting it run, or is their daily management required to keep it running well? [link] [comments]
Thinking of pulling all of my money out of the stock market for XRP.... Posted: 06 Jun 2018 06:19 AM PDT I have a seemingly large amount of money invested in 2 stocks, a pharmaceutical company that has netted me a 40% return in 2 years and a marijuana OTC stock that has netted me a 20% return in the same time frame. I could increase my XRP portfolio by a whopping 50%. I am hesitant to pull the trigger but both my head and heart are leaning towards doing so. Just curious what you guys think. All angles and advice are greatly appreciated as I weigh my options! [link] [comments]
Exchange Volume v. Ledger Payment Volume Posted: 06 Jun 2018 07:36 PM PDT If large bank start to use XRP as BG has stated, but exchange liquidity doesn't change much, will this still increase the price of XRP. My question comes from another post where XRP had ledger payments above $800M and retail exchange volumes were just above $200M, but price remained stagnant. So if all the banks do use XRP and that is only seen as payment ledger volume, will XRP price increase? [link] [comments]

Questions about Codius (payment + security) Posted: 06 Jun 2018 03:03 PM PDT Codius being reintroduced was a given. The question was when, and it seems the answer was today. Now I have 2 things that are not clear to me right now and I hope someone might know this:
In a codius example I found this json data from running a smart contract: url: 'http://lg6gjhhh2b3if2tzpbms6cr3hdmh7dixa2v4an6pz4tdxdmqtjpa.local.codius.org:3000/', manifestHash: 'lg6gjhhh2b3if2tzpbms6cr3hdmh7dixa2v4an6pz4tdxdmqtjpa', host: 'http://147.75.69.179:3000', expiry: '2018-06-06T00:45:57.101Z', expirationDate: '06-05-2018 5:45:57 -0700', expires: 'in 2 minutes', pricePaid: '381' } I would assume Codius uses XRP (drops) for running smart contracts? I mean we have the ILP so you can basically pay with whatever crypto you want but I'd think it'll still pass through XRP, right? Also I've read that it uses sort of a wallet. I assume they won't have tons of wallets for all cryptos but that this would be just an XRP wallet?
Codius seems like a very important step for making XRP even more successful and making sure that there's a full product suite. My sources were these Medium articles: https://medium.com/coil/codius-smart-contracts-made-from-containers-b3b16c3e3890 [link] [comments]

Someone Needs to Make a Tutorial Video (How to Run Your Own Codius Host) Posted: 06 Jun 2018 07:37 AM PDT Seriously would love to set one of these up when the time is right but this is way out of my league at the moment. Think I need to start studying more, lol. If anyone does take this route in the future they should definitely make a how to video documenting the whole process this would greatly help the community. https://medium.com/codius/how-to-run-your-own-codius-host-42e13afe1fb2 [link] [comments]

Why I consider buying XRP lottery and why I did that anyway Posted: 06 Jun 2018 02:00 AM PDT Please forgive me my english skills, it's not my primary language.First thing - I've just bought my first XRPs and I plan to buy more in the future. Second thing - I thing XRP ledger has unique position as it already is being adopted as valid tool, it's not just pipe dream, joke or neckbeard fantasy. Having those in mind I still consider buing XRP participating in lottery. It is not an investment for me, as there are numerous obstacles that XRP has to cross to become real thing, according to me of course. Number one: whole technology can be caught in some kind of "catch 22" hell. Banks are not first adopters of any tech, they use concepts and system proven to be secure and stable. XRP will have hard time proving this because companies that could become those first adopters (like third party payment processors) and deliver proof of system being safe and usable, are the ones that are threatened by XRP existence. Western Union could use XRP, but adopting XRP will probably erase need for this company to exist in the first place. I know about all those projects being currently developed, but all of them are just breadcrumbs when compared to the biggest banking operations on the planet. It can take years to reach the biggest banks. Number two: regulators. Banking industry is heavily regulated, and for a good reason. Tax avoidance, money laundering - you name it. Adoption of the XRP ledger will require strict cooperation with authorities, and I mean plural - numerous authorities. It will be extremly tedious work against status quo. What is funny - adopting XRP can increase transparency as it will be harder to obscure source of money behind unpenetrable tax haven accounts. What is funnier - it can cause XRP to fail, big fish don't want that kind of transparency. Another thing to consider is the fact that adopting XRP != XRP being traded on the free market. The idea to create artificial currency to deal with cross border transfers is not new, it was used by Eastern Block countries from 1964 to 1991under the name Transferrubel and it was yet another system with it's own pitfalls and merits. I can imagine situation where XRP is being widely adopted and to secure lack of volatility and constand supply it is being pulled out of private circulation by some variant of forced buyout. Number three: price. Let's assume we managed to overcome first two obstacles. XRP is standard, is regulated, transparent technology, but still in hands of ordinary Joes. The biggest banks on the planet use it... And the price is around $2 for single XRP. Is it possible? Yes, I think it is. It all depends on the speed of processing the transactions and quality of software. The better the software and infrastructure behind ledger, the more value single XRP can carry per hour. The more value single XRP can carry per hour the less it has to be worth. Sounds counterintuitive, but I believe it's true. Furthermore supply and demand tend to work in funny ways in the places where the biggest entities on earth operate, it's not law of physics, more like a guideline ;) But despite all of those doubts and risks I bought XRP. Why? In 2011-2012 I was considering buing BitCoins. Just some small amount, IDK, maybe 300, maybe 500. I still think about it sometimes :) I had a gut feeling that risking some spare change can be good idea. Now I have the same feeling. I intend to buy fixed amount of XRP and hold it for years to come. If it will perish, I will lose some money, not too much to make any big difference in my life. If it crawls and stops at mentioned $2 - well, I earned some money. If it explodes, I want part of it, just enough to fly on the moon in my lambo :D [link] [comments]
Best Place to Buy with Credit / Debit Card Posted: 06 Jun 2018 08:38 AM PDT Hello, I have used Bitstamp in the past to purchase XRP and I have the urge to buy again. When I try to purchase with Bitstamp, it always says that: Unfortunately your card transaction has been declined by your bank." I have called the bank and their fraud dept said that they enabled purhases to Bitstamp, but I still get this message. I signed up at Uphold but and am in the process of transferring money from my bank account, but they limit me to $500. Is there another good exchange that I can purhase XRP with my credit/debit card that doesnt have that Verified by Visa / 3D Secure feature? Is there anything else I can try with my bank? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
