    The decoupling

    Posted: 29 Jun 2018 06:58 PM PDT

Everyone wants to know when it will happen. Everyone knows it will happen. Every coin following longs for the day when projects rise and fall in value on their own merits. People sometimes look at small deviations and wonder "is it starting?". It isnt. But it will. I think I can tell you when.

The day any one coin takes 1st place in market cap (even for a moment) the decoupling will follow.

Until then, BTC is preeminent psychologically. It was first, it was the king. Love it or hate it, it is reality.

But even if it remains a king, there will be a day when some coin breaks the glass ceiling and becomes #1 in market cap. When it does, the psychological spell is broken and the decoupling will happen.

It could be Eth, it could be XRP. Who it is wont matter. But that is what it will take. Not a few days of trend deviation. When the world sees (or hears) that BTC doesnt have to be number one - we will decouple.

    Turn up the heat

Haven't been on here lately since more and more I've been kinda anxious that my ROI would take much longer (literally December).. But. I'm quite confident what we are seeing now starting today til next 2 weeks will be the start of a LONG AWAITED BULL RUN

don't quote me. But we did jump from 43 to like 46-47 and climbing over a day.

Definitely people expecting the mid July moon.

But hopefully its sooner than later. I'm okay with letting my money sit, but it still sucks to be like 6months down.

    But hopes high guys!!!

CMC changed name of XRP to XRP

    Posted: 29 Jun 2018 12:03 AM PDT

Finally they changed the name of the asset to XRP. This is following the change after Livecoinwatch, coinlib.io and cryptocompare.com already couple days back.

Screenshot in case they changed it back :)

Why isn't XRP decoupling from BTC?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2018 04:00 AM PDT

Seeing the continuous drops of BTC I was expecting XRP (and possibly some other ALTs) to slowly but surely decouple from BTC's death spiral - yet it seems to me that is not happening. Instead, BTC drags everything down with it.

I can't help but wonder why XRP, that has FIAT pairs on so many exchanges, cannot decouple from BTC. It would have been a no-brainer to me that it would happen, but these repeated lower and lower lows together with the trendlines following BTC so closely (yes I know, XRP is holding up pretty WELL, still!) make me wonder..

Is it the bots holding all markets hostage, high-frequency trading, the lizard men, aliens, or what..?

ELI5 how will xcurrent or xrapid effect the price of xrp?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2018 03:47 PM PDT

    I've been hodling xrp for about 3 months now and am constantly watching YouTube videos ad checking on here daily but I get confused on two things;

    1. How will xcurrent or x rapid effect the price

    2. How does buying coins differ to buying shares in a company?

Because from my naive thinking I can't see how ripple couldn't just increase the value of their company and that may not necessarily increase the price of xrp and also what's to stop them from selling the tech to someone like Google or Facebook etc and we are left with nothing?

How does Ripple company have the ability to change the name and logo of the asset, if it's not their asset to control?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2018 01:05 PM PDT

The whole argument that XRP token isn't a security of Ripple company is that they were gifted a bunch, and that they have no control over the asset itself besides for what they hold.

I feel like they just shot themselves in the foot by demonstrating their ability to change the main name of the token to XRP (rather than just the ticker) and it's logo, pretty much industry wide.

No single group has the ability to change Bitcoin's name or logo. If the programmers at Blockstream tried to rename it to something like BlockstreamCoin and change the logo to a skull and crossbones, the industry would probably reject it and keep calling it Bitcoin (I don't know this for certain, but it seems like common sense for a "decentralized" asset).

How can Ripple company control the name and logo of the asset, while simultaneously claiming they have no control over the asset itself?

For the record, I am a hodler and I want whatever is best for XRP, but I feel this is a step backwards when it comes to getting a "not-a-security" ruling from the SEC.

As for what should happen, obviously I think the asset should have stayed with the original logo, name "Ripple" and ticker "XRP". Ripple the company should either revert to their former name "Ripple Labs" or just completely rebrand the company, which IS in their control as opposed to XRP which supposedly is not.
