Am I the only one or is node syncing completely broken?

    Posted: 04 Jun 2018 08:09 AM PDT

So, lately I've been having some issues with both geth and parity, just trying to sync the network. I've tried all of the following with no success of fully syncing the network:

    • geth default --fast mode --cache 1024: this syncs the network up to the last 100 blocks or so. It then shows corrupted data and rolls back some headers. Then hangs. Waited for multiple days with no apparent progress.

    • parity: I don't remember what happened since I tried this some time ago. But pretty sure the sync didn't work then I switched to geth.

    • geth --light mode: 9 out of 10 times, this just gets stuck from the beginning. I tried relaunching geth repeatedly. Eventually it syncs but then some of the contract balances don't get synced. It feels like a hack anyway in the sense that I wanted to run a full node, not a light client, but was forced to do so.

    • geth --full mode: I haven't tried this. But is this seriously the only option?

Note that: - All of the above were done immediately after resetting the database - I have good machine and network. I'm using SSD with enough space. System is not overloaded when syncing. - At least 50Mbps network w/ no other program running at the same time.

    What is going on here?

What's the priority right now amung Ethereum Devs?

    Posted: 04 Jun 2018 06:59 PM PDT

Between Casper, Plasma, and Sharding, is there an order of importance that these things are taking? Of course, the beauty of ownerless systems and open source developement is that all these things are being worked on in parallel? But surely some have to have more developer attention than others. Anyone got any info on this?
