Bitcoins influence over cryptocurrency prices could end soon says Brad Garlinghouse Ripple CEO

    The FOMO is intense

    Posted: 30 May 2018 06:53 PM PDT

I have to say, everytime the price of XRP plummets, I cheer. I didn't know XRP existed until I saw it on Ellen's video that was trending on YouTube. Have never really thought about crypto much before because I already missed out on bitcoin and never really cared until now.

I did research into what XRP was about and why someone like Ashton Kutcher who is known for his tech investments would donate 4 million using this. The more I research, the more I feel like I'm missing out because I can't amass any faster then I already am. I see the vision Ripple is going for and I see how they are signing new companies left and right.

I bought 750 XRP so far but my current goal is to be over 3000 XRP. I can safely buy 1000 XRP a month but with how much news there is, the fear of missing out is getting pretty intense.

Gotta say though, I believe in the vision and I'm glad I saw the Ellen video. Now I can hope that one day, my debt will be paid off and my family and I will get to live comfortably if I hold out long enough.

XRP to the moon! (after I have atleast 3000 please!)

CNBC interview with Brad that happened earlier, he stated that they signed 20- production contract in Q1. No word on whether that was xCurrent / xRapid etc... but good news nonetheless!

    xRapid Tipping Point Reached?

    Posted: 30 May 2018 04:36 AM PDT

    https://xrphodor.wordpress.com/2018/05/30/xrapid-tipping-point-reached/

Are we at the tipping point for use of #xrp? The number of xRapid customers is growing. xCurrent is quickly replacing SWIFT messaging, and Ripple just signed two new banks onto RippleNet.

In addition to news about Ripple's progress, the XRP community is also busy this week, planning meetups for Europe, as well as voting on a new XRP Symbol starting one day from now.

After reading the news over the last few days, I leave it to you to judge whether XRP has reached a level of unstoppable momentum.

    Hope you enjoy the read!

Let me know what you think - please leave any feedback below.

    Sincerely, -Hodor

    Are There XRP Competitors?

    Posted: 30 May 2018 04:43 PM PDT

Hey guys, For the new people that are coming to this subreddit, and even for those who are familiar with XRP, there are often questions floating around asking if there are any competitors to XRP.

As it stands now, there are 0 competitors to what Ripple is trying to achieve. Now you may sit there and think, well, SWIFT and R3 are competitors, but I can tell you that they aren't competitors. Sure, SWIFT may be dealing with most of the Banks all over the world, but nothing even comes close to what Ripple is planning (I say planning, but please note that things are already happening).

Sure, SWIFT can make things a bit faster, perhaps a bit cheaper, but they will always require Banks to hold Nostro accounts. The one key thing that needs to be present in order for a Bank to not require a Nostro account is liquidity. This is where Ripple and xRapid step in.

If a Bank in America needs to send Mexican Pesos to a Bank in Mexico, the use of xRapid will buy XRP with US Dollars on an American Exchange, send that XRP to an Mexican Exchange, sell that XRP for Mexican Pesos and send them Mexican Pesos to the Mexican Bank. However, for this to work, there needs to be liquidity present - on BOTH exchanges in both countries. SWIFT is too late.

For them to achieve what xRapid is planning to do/already doing, they will need to create a Blockchain, create a token, market that token, sell that token, hope people start trading that token, and they need it to get to the point where investors are trading that token in the majority of every country (Australia, America, Japan, South Korea, African countries, England, Spain, India, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Middle Eastern Countries... The list goes on) to ensure liquidity is present. If SWIFT can't do this, they will required Banks to keep Nostro accounts, which is what Ripple/xRapid is planning to get rid of. Even is SWIFT can pull it off, it will take them years. Sure, they have a large amount of money. Sure, they may have Banks backing them, but it all comes down to liquidity, and if they don't have a large amount of investors trading their token in the majority of all countries, they are finished.

Guys, what we are currently witnessing is the change of the tides. We are watching something that has been around for 40+ years starting to crumble, and there is nothing they can do about it. Banks will be forced to swap over to xRapid in order to compete with their competitors who are already utilising xRapid (which will stem from Shareholder pressures - would you be happy as a Shareholder in a Bank if their competitors are saving 40-70%, resulting in higher profit? - No way. You would be pressuring the Bank to follow its competitors - But that's another story ;) )

Be happy and content with your investment choice. Ignore the FUD. Happy Holding and Trading.

XRP Valuation $334 - An Incorrect Model

    Posted: 29 May 2018 10:33 PM PDT

    Hello Everyone,

Before diving into the meat and potatoes of the post I want to clarify that Susie's video had a ton of information that I truly enjoyed and watched multiple times. In fact, it was these multiple viewings and a desire to create a more informed community that lead me to create this post.

While I disagree with the valuation model used I do not necessarily disagree with the outcome of it, in fact I am hoping this post will be a catalyst for beginning to determine what variables will create value in the XRP token and potentially a community driven valuation attempt. I hope this post and future posts will achieve the following:

1.) Create a more informed community about valuations generally but more importantly XRP's valuation

2.) Derive variables that could lead to a model for XRP's valuation

3.) Limit FOMO in the near term regarding XRP

Susie's roughly hour long video begins with a well laid out analysis of exactly how xCurrent and xRapid will save FI's and banks on costs in the transfer of funds cross boarder over the current SWIFT technology. From here the last 10 minutes of the video are down and dirty valuation of XRP that is DCF based, in order to understand why this model is flawed in the use of XRP we must first understand a few things.

A security (common stock) is financially understood to be a claim on the residual cash flows of a corporation or business. It is these forecasted cash flows, expected return of an asset(s), and other variables that determine a securities valuation.

I personally do not disagree with the figures Susies used in her valuation such as projected cash flows, expected return (CAPM?), or market penetration. My disagreement is with the fact that she was able to extrapolate a valuation from these figures in the first place as XRP is not a security.

XRP does not give you, me, or anyone a claim on Ripple's assets or cash flows. While I firmly believe XRP will grow in value exponentially within the next 2-5 years, it will not come from the cash flows derived from Ripple's products whether it be set up costs or recurring revenues from licensing the products. The assumptions made in the valuation itself could be 100% accurate and in theory have zero correlation to the price of XRP.

Where does that leave us? Well I would hope this post serves as a catalyst to discuss what variables will lead to value creation within XRP and possibly spur the greater mind on this subreddit to work on a rudimentary model to value XRP. I will start with the conversation with this:

"The value comes from demand for the asset for settlement.

To use XRP to settle a payment, someone has to hold XRP so that it's available to be used to settle that payment. When lots of payments are being settled, then there's lots of demand for the settlement asset." - sjoelkatz

I hope this post is received as I intended it, to spur conversation in these dry time of the crypto market and hopefully to hear from some of the great people in this community.

    XRapid Impact on Central Lending

    Posted: 30 May 2018 08:38 AM PDT

Has anyone extrapolated what will happen to inflation (and hence central monetary policy) as well as interest rates if Ripple is completely successful? What I mean to say is, if XRapid is successful at unlocking all of the unused capital trapped in Nostro/Vostro accounts around the world for better utilization won't this necessarily have a huge upward pressure on inflation, and a counter reaction by federal reserves on interest rates? At what rate would Xrapid have to be adopted to cause this pressure? Will inflation actually make XRP more valuable as the fiat currencies are necessarily weakened in purchasing power with respect to a global digital asset?

Is Id.ripple.com/auth/migrate legit? A few questions.

    Posted: 30 May 2018 11:17 AM PDT

I have a ripple account with 30,000xrp just sitting there waiting on me. I ran into trouble in 2015 when ripple.com did the migration and it changed the way the old account information worked. I have old support tickets working with Julian Martinez but he couldn't offer a solution for me.

I have the username and the password for the ripple address. I do not have the secret key. The user/pass would have been fine if they didn't change things up back in 2015. The solution given was create a new username and import funds with the secret key. I think they changed the username length or acceptable characters and that's why I couldn't get into the account after the migration.

Anyway, I'm hoping there is a way to generate the secret key with the ripple address, password and original username. I've done something similar with counterparty and Litecoin when I only had secret keys and addresses but needed the private keys.

If I can't do that I was thinking https://id.ripple.com/auth/migrate might be a solution but I'm guessing they are only recovering accounts after the original 2015 migration.

I'll give you $1500 in ripple if you can help me successfully recover my xrp.

    Thanks!
