    THEORY: Timing X-rapid Launch

    Posted: 01 May 2018 09:56 PM PDT

In short, I think SBI's exchange launch will serve as a bellwether and will bring X-rapid live right behind it or in tandem.

Looking at the most recent video of Brad and Cory, and comparing the expected launch of X-rapid in Q2 alongside SBI's exchange launch in summer, I'm inclined to believe that both will be switched on at nearly the same time, with SBI's exchange being the primary (maybe default?) source of X-rapid's liquidity given their more than close partnership Ripple (though x-rapid of course will seek the lowest abitrage).

This is just the thinking of a random guy on the internet, but I'm interested in the community's thoughts and any enlightenments worth sharing.

    Taxes for private transactions

    Posted: 01 May 2018 07:16 PM PDT

If I sold XRP directly for cash. How do I account for this for taxes? Should I just keep a manual log to account for this. Do I need any information from the receiving party?

Also what if the transaction price is different than the market value at the time. Or if it is a private trade with no cash involved?

    SBI Exchange and XRP Demand

    Posted: 01 May 2018 05:42 AM PDT

I know that SBI will be launching their exchange this summer and couldn't be more excited. I have a few questions around this topic.

    1. How much XRP will they need to acquire to keep up with the demand on this exchange?

    2. Do they currently have this XRP?

    3. If a company plans to use XRP on an exchange, do they have to buy that on the open market or can they get it from Ripple at their discounted rate?

I'm wondering how people who really understand this stuff feel about what is said in the article - especially what he says about volatility. I'm new to the crypto space and hodl ripple. Trying to expose myself to other counter-opinions, not just hype.

Edit: in light of all of this, what stops a company like ripple from partnering with banks to implement their tech as a background function that consumers don't even see? Essentially like software - and the tokens or ripple being more like stock? Does this just destroy the whole idea of the blockchain revolution? I'm just trying to wrap my mind around why, in some cases, you need a coin to be exchanged. Again, I hodl ripple, a healthy amount - not tying to spread FUD. I'm trying to learn and I'm sincerely interested in how this community answers these questions. I want to be able to tell people about this tech, I'm excited about it - it makes sense that's I'd be prepared with good answers to reasonable questions.

    Thanks.

On 155 W 23rd St, New York, NY 10011 supposedly Ripple is opening up a headquarters. Is there any validity to that. Also will there be any upcoming NY area public events or talks that could be attended?

“The SEC swooping down on the likes of Ripple and Ethereum would convulse cryptocurrency markets. But the chances of that happening are remote, according to securities lawyers and former regulators.”

Way to use iOS Toast Wallet on Ledger Nano S?

    Posted: 01 May 2018 07:43 AM PDT

Hey everyone, I know this has been discussed before but all posts regarding this seem pretty dated. Has there been any traction on figuring out a way to recover a toast wallet address on a new ledger nano? I know odds are I'll have to cough up the 20 XRP, and that isn't the problem, I think I'd just be really bothered knowing it's sitting there and I won't ever be able to retrieve it.

    Thanks.
