Hybridized Cryptocurrency Mining for Unrelated Pursuits (Aka - Litecoin Hot Tub)

    Posted: 02 May 2018 10:51 PM PDT

    Good afternoon,

I offered this idea to one of Tim Draper's firms and got shot down.

I am a man with little to lose, and without the means to bring this to market - so I give this idea to the community now.

It's possible to harness the waste heat from ASICs to do productive work.

I'll be happy to answer any questions. I'm also available for hire in the USA. I have many applications for this that could easily reduce the cost basis for certain energy-intensive businesses to near-zero.

The "hot tub" in this picture achieved a temperature of over 116F, well beyond the 105F I can tolerate. Ambient temperature was around 80F.

    Make me proud.

A more thorough explanation from my post in another subreddit:

    • Step 1: Harness waste heat.
    • Step 2: Use waste heat to power or pre-heat hot tubs / saunas.
    • Step 3: Open spa + sauna powered by crypto hot tubs.
    • Step 4: Charge people to use crypto hot tubs + crypto sauna.
    • Step 5: Profit + Profit

    See?

This is not for managing mining temps. You're right, there are much better ways to do that if mining is the only goal.

This is my big rig in my apartment. Noise is under 77 decibels in the room. Temps are under 70C, ambient is around 25C-30C. Power draw is around 5,280W. I have the noise, heat, shelf space, and power capacity to expand out to 15,360W.

The commercial and retail applications are extensive.

Imagine a hotel that used crypto-enabled water heaters and heating for the winter. Talk about reducing operational costs for the chain!

Or a crypto laundromat - the open-loop version of this system produces both hot water and hot air as the extraction is only so efficient. Use the hot water for the washers and the remainder of the hot air to dry the clothes.

Or build a line of legit hot tubs / water heaters with integrated cryptocurrency mining hardware and sell it to end-users. Have end-users connect said hot tub / water heater to the internet. Have the chips throttle frequency up/down or have them cycle on/off to obtain the desired temperatures depending on the duty cycle required.

My girlfriend uses my ASIC waste heat to dry her hair after she washes it. She says it's easier on her hair than a hair dryer.

I'm looking forward to what applications y'all come up with for this.

Please, steal my ideas! Put them to use.

I don't want my ideas to go to waste due to my own entrepreneurial impotence.
