    Best Mining Farm Building Layout?

    Posted: 02 May 2018 07:58 AM PDT

    Hi,

I have been researching different layouts used by other mining farms to try and work out the most efficient in terms of cooling and maximising the space available with miners.

I have drawn up 4 possible layouts for the same sized square building.

Would you be able to tell me which is the best and why?

    Option 2: https://i.gyazo.com/b9f1ec57213a0dddd6ffc2f54c6bf9d5.png

    Option 3: https://i.gyazo.com/0981960710846b18a5c7b62394942dd3.png

I'm highly appreciative of your input! Thanks!

    Advice for choosing GPU

    Posted: 02 May 2018 06:19 AM PDT

I am planning to build a mining rig this summer. What is the GPU market like for mining these days? I don't want to spend money on a 1080ti if they get made redundant soon. What would you recommend? Go for nvidia 10 series? Or wait? Or would you go for a AMD build? Budget around 1500 USD

    Coolest algorithm?

    Posted: 01 May 2018 02:20 PM PDT

Just wondering what everyone's experience is in term of lowest temp algorithms? I mine mainly with NVIDIA cards and for a while did only equihash. But after dabbling in X16R, it seems to keep the cards cooler which is always nice.

I've got two GTX 760 (4gb versions), are those worth anything for mining something?

    Posted: 01 May 2018 09:40 PM PDT

I got them for free, but was told that they could maybe work for mining something? Just recently got into the crypto scene and am wondering if I should just try to sell these and buy some coins with the cash or if they'd be worth anything to a miner.

    Any thoughts/tips? Worthless oldies?

    BIOS Corruption Issue?

    Posted: 01 May 2018 09:25 PM PDT

I'm having a problem flashing modded BIOSes of any kind onto my MSI ARMOR OC RX 570 4GB cards. I have a dozen of them, yet not one of them works with a modded BIOS.

I'm using ATIFlash to dump and program BIOSes that I have modified with PBE and SRB editors, yet whenever I load any sort of modded BIOS, even if it's just to change voltages by one increment, the cards aren't recognized by the display drivers, and show up as "problem" hardware in device manager. Flashing the stock BIOS fixes them.

I'm wondering if anyone has had similar issues, and how you overcame them. I haven't found anything like this on google, and haven't experienced this problem with any other cards in our inventory.

    Thanks.

I've made an open source remote management extension for AIOMiner

    Posted: 01 May 2018 12:16 PM PDT

Hi, First of all thanks to u/BRob for his work on AIOMiner! I've spent the last couple of weeks (months) working on a remote management extension for it. Although I would say it is still in an alpha stage, you can give it a try right now. It is all open source as well. Here is a demonstration There are two ways to use it: Give it a try at http://aioremoteserverdev.azurewebsites.net/ :

    • Register on the website
    • Download the client
    • Unzip it into the root of the AIOMiner folder [Ex: C:\Users\User\Documents\AIOMiner]
    • Connect the client with the same username and start managing it from the Dashboard

Or you can also build the server and host it yourself, just change ServerUrl on the client's config What do you guys think ?

Is it possible to apply graphics card specific settings using NSGMiner?

    Posted: 01 May 2018 02:28 PM PDT

Currently I have five MSI GTX 1050 Ti GCs and one MSI GTX 1060 6GB GC. The batch file I run performs all of the typical "setx" operations:

    setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 1

    setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100

    setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

    setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100

    setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100

Then runs NSGMiner. I now know the single alloc percent line is for 2GB GCs, which leads me to believe my 6GB GC is using only 1/3 of its memory. The 6GB GC is currently device 2, and the first two cards outperform it somehow. Is there anything that can be tweaked to utilize the card more? I thought of creating two seperate scripts, utilizing the "-d" flag to enable all of the 2GB GCs and the SAP param in one and enabling only the 6GB GC w/out the SAP param in the other. Running two instances would just be too much strain on my CPU though.

What so good about bios mod, or am i doing something wrong?

    Posted: 01 May 2018 03:31 PM PDT

I had six rx580 doing 31mhz each using only wattman settings. Then I saw a tutorial to using "polaris one click bios mod" now my cards only do 28.9mhz and when eve i try to adjust wattman settings my rig freezes up and shuts down.

Im debating on just putting my cards back to regular bios, but before i do is there a better option for me?
