I'm really concerned about breaking even

    Posted: 07 May 2018 08:41 PM PDT

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I will keep this short. I set up a 12x 1080TI mining rig at the beginning of the year and am getting a sinking feeling that I might never break even on my endeavour. I have been mining zencash and it has roughly doubled in value since I have begun mining. So while this is good, I am not receiving nearly the profit on a daily basis than I initially calculated. I'm really concerned that there will be no way to come close to breaking even over the course of operating the rig. So far, I have paid off roughly one of the 1080TI cards. This took roughly 3 months.

I am not sure whether I should continue to mine and trust the process or sell the rig and cut my loses. I am in the technology sector so I do have interest in learning more about block chain and cryptocurrency. I just worry that I might not ever break even. What would be the most prudent path to take?

What do you guy think of my cooling plan..

    Posted: 08 May 2018 05:42 AM PDT

So currently I'm facing issues in my garage with cooling. I have a 3car garage so space is big. To avoid having to use exchange such a large amount of air, to keep cool, I was thinking of putting all my rigs (5) on a shelf platform. 2 rigs per shelf. Rigs would stay as close to ground level as possible. Then make a wooden box around the shelf/cart to keep air in. At the top of the box cut an 8 inch hole to suck hot air to the outside with a 740 cfm in-line fan (have already) and then cut 2/3 holes on the bottom to intake cold air from outside via a 740cfm in-line fan(also have already) I was thinking of splitting the 2/3 ways into these 2 or 3 holes I cut out to spread the cool air inside the box keeps a rigs cool.

What do you guys think? I came up with the idea from the cabinet YouTube Video I saw which is basically the same thing on a bigger scale. Let me know what you think.

Why aren’t more people mining BTCZ?

    Posted: 07 May 2018 11:21 AM PDT

BTCZ has been my hidden gem for a while now and I think it's about time you guys got the inside scoop. As far as mining goes BitcoinZ uses Equihash, but is forking to another algo due to the new ASIC's coming. BTCZ is 100% community. No devfee, no ICO, no premine, decentralized development, community funded. It's all the community behind this coin. This coin isn't a Bitcoin clone or fork, technically it's a Zcash fork. BTCZ has transparent addresses as well as having private, secure, anonymous ones utilizing the zkSNARKS technology. BTCZ has a very tiny market cap at the moment and has huge potential on the upside. I don't agree with the naming, but look on CMC and show me a coin with "Bitcoin" in the name that hasn't blown up and isn't less than 6 months old (like BTCZ). Currently I make about double what WTM shows mining this coin and I'm sure most of you can switch over and make some good money too! But my advice would be to keep all your BTCZ, maybe one day you'll have a lot to show for it. Thanks all and have an amazing day!

    Upgrading from blockchain drivers

    Posted: 08 May 2018 12:26 AM PDT

Twice now I've tried to upgrade from blockchain drivers and my cards have dropped from 25 mhs to 18. I changed to compute mode and it made no difference. The only card out of my 6 that kept it's high numbers was one of my rx 480's which has always done about 29 mhs. The rest all dropped 7mhs. Any ideas? I've reverted back to blockchain drivers for a third time now as I don't want to lose too much money fiddling with it. I modded all of the cards bios but it seems to ignore it. The rig is 4 rx 570s 4gb, 1 rx 480 8gb and 1 rx 480 4gb (the only one that performs after upgrading).

    1070 ti settings for equihash

    Posted: 07 May 2018 11:13 PM PDT

Hey everyone, I've been mining for some time but just got 6 strix 3 fan 1070 ti and wanted to see if my OC settings are bad. I'm getting a consistent 500-520 sol/s with the following:

    +100 core

    +900 memory

    120 w power limit

    target temp is 65

    fan speed is 65%

Cards are running stable with no restarts. Is this a sustainable setting to use? Just want to make sure I'm not frying them. Temps for the cards are between 39 and 45.

    Thanks!

GPU not detected after stopping miner?

    Posted: 07 May 2018 06:17 PM PDT

Hi all, just recently, my rig has been acting up. It would originally mine equihash using DSTM just fine until I stop the miner to do some stuff, then when I try to start it again, it wouldn't detect the GPU. However, I could play games just fine and they would detect the GPU. Is my GPU dead already?

    Legit rig lottery?

    Posted: 07 May 2018 11:28 PM PDT

Sorry I pretty much am a full lurker but have seen this tonight and cant find any info on it to see if its legit. I posted it in cryptocurrency as I follow that mainly but decided to delete that and ask it here instead.

Is anyone here part of the Ethereum Mining group on Facebook?

    https://www.facebook.com/groups/309103196170098/?ref=group_header

Its a big group with some serious moderation. There seems to be a well known New Zealand miner there who is offering anyone in the group to take over his rigs in some sort of lottery and the owners are allowing it so it seems legit.

    https://www.facebook.com/groups/309103196170098/permalink/447807878966295/

Anyone found any news on this or if this is legit/guy is legit? His post history looks legit, he has progress photos etc of his rig operation as he built it all in some office space or something. The mods of the 30k group have allowed him to post it and are supporting him. But I dunno.. is this thing allowed in the first place?

    Diagnose bad pci slot?

    Posted: 07 May 2018 04:36 PM PDT

Just got back an rma'ed motherboard. Asus Hero viii. 2 of the pcix1 slots I cannot get to recognize anything. Gpus will work when moved to the first pcix1 slot. The x16 slots are also working fine.

6 gtx 1080s are what I'm trying to run. i3 gen 6 CPU. 16 gb of ram. 1500w psu.

I haven't been able to mine more than 2 cards in my gaming computer since feb! It's good to be back but I'm still at 2/3 power.

I've tried gen1 and gen 2 pci settings. Above 4g enabled. Bios is up to date.

I was able to run six before the rma. But it was an unstable motherboard. Even at zero gpus it would freeze and hang.

So any suggestions to troubleshoot? I've been switching risers and cables around. So far just nothing works out of those 2 slots. 3 of my risers are 16x ribbons for ease of use. The rest are mintcell OO8s.

All of the mintcells worked in my gaming rig when I tested them back in feb.

Where do you guys get your P104/106/102s?

    Posted: 07 May 2018 12:12 PM PDT

Everybody I've ever seen who said they own these cards says "they know a guy". I don't know a guy. Lol, how can I change that? It's easy for someone to leave a comment saying "PM me for a deal!" but I need to verify that who I'm buying them from is legit too.

Anybody know of a reputable place that sells them?
