Truly understanding Casper impact to miners

    Posted: 10 May 2018 06:34 PM PDT

I see so many people from news writters to even miners completely misunderstanding the effect Casper and sharding will have on miner profitability. They point at the mining reward reduction from 3.0 ETH to 0.82 ETH per block as sole proof without taking into account block times will be reduced due to sharding.

Casper with sharding shoud move block creation time from currently 15 seconds down to 2 seconds. So the easy math is under current block time of 15 seconds 12 ETH are paid to miners every minute. Under Casper POS it would be 15 blocks per minute x .82 reward = 12.3 ETH miner rewards per minute. Now if sharding works better than expected everyone will be extremely happy including the miners.

So the next time you see an article claiming Casper will reduce mining rewards by 80%, understand while this is partially true, it is completely wrong since total ETH paid to miners could in fact increase.

    Noob here

So I sent some coins from ledger to an exchange to store there instead. This required me to click confirm on my ledger but I never actually verified the info on the ledger being displayed. I just went and confirmed it (I know I shouldn't do this). The correct transfer went through.

My question is, by me authorizing my ledger to complete this transaction, and if it was a malicious site/exchange, I know my coins actually being sent to the site would be at risk, but would my entire ledger wallet be at risk as well since I gave authorization to withdraw from my wallet?

Projects should publish their App onto Aptoide

    Posted: 10 May 2018 05:44 AM PDT

It would be really great if each project that has an Android app would create an official store (linked from their official website) where they would publish their app (i.e.: Status, uPort, Civic, imToken, CipherToshi, Trust, etc).

It is particularly important that we start breaking the Google Play / Apple Store duopoly in the spirit of decentralisation.

I am personally running Android on CopperheadOS and am using F-Droid as well as Aptoide in order to get my apps. It's far from perfect but it's much better privacy-wise than the Google/Apple walled garden.

Disclosure: I own tokens of the related appcoins.io project.
