Wouldn't EOS end up like an oligopoly?

    Posted: 30 May 2018 07:01 PM PDT

I know there are arguments out there about bribery and how block producers would pay bribes to remain voted in, but that's not my concern. What if EOS is the "winner" protocol? would we have 21 incredibly wealthy institutions, that might not necessarily manipulate the EOS network per se, but would control the world politically. I see EOS as a much better protocol to stand behind from governments' perspective, as there are central nodes to control. Not only will those who control the nodes be rich to begin with, they will keep getting richer, and if this thing gets big enough, we might end up with 21 emperors who control this planet. I see EOS as a dystopian nightmare, do you agree?

    Luke Martin, Twitter, & Scams

    Posted: 30 May 2018 04:19 PM PDT

I'm still pretty new and learning fast; but apparently not fast enough. I recently followed Luke Martin @VentureCoinist and was scammed on twitter with one of those "Giveaways". There are so many scam profiles its unbelievable. Twitter really needs to do something about it. Estimation is 9 mil a day in scammed cryptocurrency. No wonder many are hesitant to jump in to crypto. I had no clue the twitter handle was not Luke Martins. Am I basically screwed out of ETH? No way to recover? Coinbase was useless when I called. I need a 'GO FUND ME' for stupidity. It was about 400 USD, enough to hurt my already losses and probably to keep me out of crypto. Still on the fence stay in or get out. My wife is going to kill me unless I can make it back somehow.

Badger wallet - A fully decentralized wallet [test release]

    Posted: 30 May 2018 05:45 PM PDT

There are plenty of great Ethereum wallets out there, but I thought I would add to the list with this 100% decentralized web wallet "Badger".

This is a test release and should not be used with real Eth. There is no support or warranty for this software. Any issues or loss of funds are your responsibility. Its currently not even possible to write down new seed phrases.

Its hosted on both IPFS and Swarm, although Swarm seems a little unreliable at the moment so IPFS will be the primary host.

    https://ipfs.io/ipfs/QmRQmeQLGCz4Wp1XLbtqPBozUPJ8upzKR9kxfir9eFDcyG

Or, if using the ensquare browser you can simply load with --ipfs badger.merklework.eth

    Features:

    • HD wallets with mnemonic seeds (thanks eth-lightwallet)
    • blockies account identicons
    • Support for web3 wallets like Mist, Parity and Metamask
    • Fully web based, no central servers required
    • ERC20 token support with built in list of most tokens (thanks MyEtherWallet)

    Important security concerns:

    • If accessing via a public IPFS gateway there is no guarantee the gateway is giving you unmodified files.
    • HD wallets are encrypted and saved in localStorage, which is accessible by other websites hosted on the same domain, i.e. https://ipfs.io/ipfs/<badger hash> and https://ipfs.io/ipfs/<malicous site hash>

Wallet can't assign enough gas to complete transaction

    Posted: 30 May 2018 04:53 PM PDT

I'm going nuts here. I just need to send 100 bucks to another account. (Well, it was 100 bucks before failed transactions).

I used the default fee settings that Ethereum wallet gave me. The transactions failed several times. Lost the gas. So I set it to the max that the wallet can set for the transaction. And the transactions STILL fail and eat the gas.

How are you supposed to deal with the wallet's own settings ruining transactions?

    Batching ETH transactions

    Posted: 30 May 2018 10:32 AM PDT

    Hello /r/ethereum,

I'd be interested to know if there's any way to batch ETH transactions.

How could I send ETH to multiple addresses at once? I know that with bitcoin it's pretty easy but I haven't found any Ethereum wallets that allows such.

    Thanks!
