Rebalance vs. HODL: A Technical Analysis

    Posted: 06 May 2018 01:55 PM PDT

TL;DR - In the last year, rebalancing outperformed HODL by 64%.

    https://medium.com/@ShrimpyApp/rebalance-vs-hodl-a-technical-analysis-6f341b0db9cd

    Data

This study details how rebalancing stacks up to HODLing. The time frame that was used was the last 1 year. Over this period, actual market data was collected in order to construct a model that was as accurate as possible.

    Strategy

The rebalancing strategy that was used for the study was the simple periodic rebalance. This means a consistent interval seperated each rebalance.

    Trades

In order to construct a model that was as close to real world results as possible, actual market trade data was used. Additionally, a default trading fee of .25% was taken for each trade.

    Results

The results demonstrated a strong trend indicating that an increase in number of assets in a portfolio and decreasing the rebalance period increased returns.

Please let me know if there is anything I can clarify!

How to calculate your liquidation price when using the same asset for collateral as the one you are borrowing?

    Posted: 06 May 2018 10:48 AM PDT

Sorry if it's been asked before, but I'm new to margin trading and I am using BTC as collateral to borrow fiat to go long on BTC. If the price of BTC drops, then so does the value of my collateral.

So my question is this: does the liquidation price shown (on Bitfinex) take this potential drop in the value of my collateral/equity into account or should I calculate my actual liquidation price manually?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Question about placing orders on binance and/or gdax...

    Posted: 06 May 2018 04:05 PM PDT

Is it possible to place a stop loss and a limit buy order simultaneously or do I need to set an alarm when my buy order is executed so that I can quickly set my stop loss then?

    Thanks

Most profitable BTC mining operation to date?

    Posted: 06 May 2018 06:23 PM PDT

    Hey guys.

Wanted to talk mention a new BTC mining project that just launched that will be much more profitable than the mainstream services, its called Elevate Group Mining. Elevate doesn't take crazy fees (up to 30%) before the investment ever gets contributed towards the mining pool, like most projects do. They also have just launched their platform and will begin mining with you almost immediately.

My favorite part about it is they operate like an ICO but they are not, it is just a straight investment-management agreement. The advantage of this is no pesky ICO regulations to stop anyone from investing. To buy in, you must purchase in units of ASICs (around $1700). All maintenance and repair is covered due to the fact that Bitmain just opened a repair shop right down the road from the Cold Warehouses that Elevate Group owns in Russia. Your ASIC is always on a livestream 24/7, with electricity costs at .055 cent per KWH (extremely low price).

Elevate Group Mining takes a one time 5% handling fee on your investment and gives you a monthly share of the mining profits from 80% of the entire pool. Other companies take up to a 30% initial fee before it ever is contributed to the project and distributes money from 50% of the profit pool. That is a palpable difference. ElevateGroup won't even spend money on advertising, they are committed to putting all the money they can towards strictly mining. I am invested in a couple of different mining operations and this one has set the bar in terms of efficiency and transparency for me. They will show you anything, including what price they buy the ASICs at.

They don't hold your money for a "lifetime" contract like other projects either, when your ASIC is done mining in 2-3 years they allow you to reinvest what you have made or move on. They are only looking to manage serious investors which is why they didn't tokenize their product. Strong team here as well, a joint venture between two previously experienced mining projects. Should give it a look.

Check out the site and even better, the subreddit:
