DarcMatter: Blockchain + Alternative Investments 2018 Meetup in Seoul, Korea

    Posted: 25 May 2018 10:32 AM PDT

DarcMatter organized DarcMatter Blockchain + Alternative Investments meetup on April 19, 2018 at Kaos Hall, Interpark Blue Square in Seoul, South Korea. The purpose of the meetup was to inform the investment community on the status of blockchain technology and how it will be integrated into the DarcMatter platform.

The main speakers were Sang Lee, CEO of DarcMatter, John Nahm, Managing Director of Strong Ventures, and Stan Solodkyy, CTO of DarcMatter. The topics were, respectively: DMC & The Future of Financial Services, Opportunities in Cryptocurrency Investment, and Financial Services Transformation through Blockchain. About 100 people attended the meetup.

Sang addressed the current issues in financial services industry and possible remedies. He first explained the problems in alternative investment funds. As alternative investment industry is a pipeline business, there are some issues such as human error and massive systematic risk and fragmentation. By utilizing platform business and blockchain, record keeping becomes transparent while risk of human error decreases. Sang then introduced DarcMatter Coin(DMC), as a token for blockchain to be implemented in the DarcMatter platform.

The second speaker, John focused on addressing the key aspects of investing in cryptocurrency. John works at Strong Ventures that supports and finances startups founded by Asian-Americans in Korea and the United States. As a practiced expert in cryptocurrency industry, John shared his experiences in the Korean cryptocurrency market and how to invest in it sagaciously.

Lastly, Stan rounded off the conference by delivering an oration on the value of blockchain for financial services. He first elucidated the reasons why blockchain is useful, especially to DarcMatter. According to him, blockchain is the most efficient way to store data, and provides high reliability of access and content. Stan then introduced some potential use cases such as transaction fee processing, capital call requests and etc.

Formal program was followed by a networking session for those who are interested in connecting with others within the investment community.

    Ethbay: Decentralized Ethereum Marketplace

    Posted: 25 May 2018 09:08 PM PDT

Ethbay is a decentralized peer to peer marketplace where users can buy and sell using Ethereum. In the future Ethbay plans to add additional features to its platform including Ethbay Services where users can also buy and sell services using Ethereum (essentially a decentralized fiverr). As well as Ethbay Classifieds where users can buy and sell locally using Ethereum as a base currency. Ethbay is one of the first truly anonymous marketplaces in existence. No personal information is required to sign up and users are ready to buy and sell immediately after registration. Transactions are protected using an ultra secure Ethereum smart contract escrow to keep both the buyer and the seller safe. Unlike standard marketplaces that charge 10-15%+ fees to sellers, Ethbay charges a low 1% fee making it a highly preferred option among sellers. The platform also eliminates listing fees that many marketplaces charge.

More information about Ethbay can be found at https://www.ethbay.co
