    GDAX and Coinbase Verification

    Posted: 08 Apr 2018 12:04 AM PDT

I am unemployed, and have always been unemployed. GDAX has the unemployed option, but even if you try to use it, you are forced to have a previous employer. What do I do about this? Coinbase doesn't even have an unemployed option, so that seems like it's out of the question. Any suggestions?

New Bitfolio update introduces Crash Blinders: no need to cry anymore when opening the app! :)

    Posted: 07 Apr 2018 01:53 PM PDT

I hope you guys don't take it too seriously, I've introduced "Crash Blinders" in the last version on Bitfolio so that if your portfolio value gets below the specified value, it will be hidden.
I find it very useful myself and let me use other parts of the app like tickers and coinmarketcap.
Here a preview of the feature.

    EDIT: App Store Link

Trading exchanges need more competition. There is a serious lack of good UX in the marketplace right now. It is creating a funnel where all new traders rely on a single one like Coinbase.

"The San Francisco based leading cryptocurrency exchange, Coinbase, currently has over 13 million users. That market dominance has been maintained in spite of having relatively high fees, non-existent customer support, and a shaky community relationship spanning years. Arguing "first mover advantage" wouldn't be fair either. Coinbase is simply an example of what a quality user experience can accomplish...." Full op-ed here.

Which exchanges allow for shorting the market?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2018 06:35 PM PDT

Bittrex has still not opened their sign-ups and I'd like to look into shorting. Any suggestions?

    Links to fundamental valuation models?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2018 02:42 PM PDT

Does anyone have any thoughts or links to thoughts on fundamental valuation models for Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies in general?

By "fundamental", I mean to exclude models such as "Crypto has a $xxx bn market cap, and Bitcoin should dominate x% of the market, therefore....".

The problem with using comparables is that it allows bubble valuations to affect the model, and is self-referential.

A fundamental model would look more like "x million people would each need to transact n times a year, and need to hold a balance equivalent of $y for the purposes a,b and c, and that translates into a velocity of money such that there is a market cap of $Z bn because..."

It may be possible to provide a model that refers to USD/precious metals/commodities, but I've so far not seen any models that reference fiat/gold which actually demonstrate any real understanding of the fundamentals of fiat and gold (such as how the Fed's open market operations provide fiat with purchasing power by targeting the CorePCE index, or that respects the non-currency value of gold for cultural reasons and as a non-confiscatable generational store of value when in jewellery form (because governments are scared to confiscate away family heirlooms of sentimental value)).

Bitcoin in downtrend as long as below ca. $9000. Currently at the lower side of the downtrend. Temporary upside expected, but that does not mean leaving downtrend. Sub 4k by mid of 2018.
