Traders use Bitcoin as a means of trading liquidity. Money enters the cryptocurrency space because of Bitcoin's reputation of immutability and security.

"...With adoption levels and a profit motive linked, trading a market as limited as cryptocurrencies can have its issues. Just like the early heyday of penny stocks, liquidity problems are magnified. In financial markets, liquidity is the ease with which an asset or security can be bought or sold without a real effect on price. In every trade, for your asset to have value there needs to a counterparty on the other end willing to pay.

The bull run late last year was partly due to traders and market makers wanting Bitcoin to grow and then actually using it as a means for liquidity in the marketplace. All of the cryptocurrency altcoins have their value tied directly for this same reason. There is a dire need for liquidity in this small space. In short, the reason these altcoins had the valuation and capital poured into them was a direct result from the success of Bitcoin as a means of value and the liquidity of that value..."

    Lightweight Stock and Crypto Tracker

    Posted: 07 Apr 2018 02:33 AM PDT

I have investments in both stocks and cryptos and couldn't find a tool I liked to look at them together so I made one. I thought some others might find it useful.

    traxir

Its pretty simple and only updates once per minute but its nice to have up on a second monitor throughout the day. If you sort by one of the performance columns it will update as the rankings change.

    It looks like this: https://imgur.com/YtxWfTN

Quick question, don't up-vote: can someone point me to a SP500 Bitcoin chart?

Quick question, don't up-vote: can someone point me to a SP500 Bitcoin correlation chart?

I feel like there is a correlation or at least a similar down trend on both markets that seems to begin in Jan.

I wonder which market started falling first...

Americans owe $25Billion in taxes for crypto.

    Posted: 06 Apr 2018 11:26 AM PDT

Americans owe the IRS a ton due to the recent Bitcoin price surge. US households had $92 billion in taxable gains from cryptocurrencies in 2017 - roughly 20% of capital-gains tax receipts to the US Treasury.

Which means that the value of crypto-related taxes should be around $25 billion.

April 15 income-tax filing deadline could be contributing to the recent market rout in cryptos. This FB group is where I got this information from. I think they will be releasing a risk management crypto plan for 2018 to make up for recently lost profits... it had better be good lol everyone is down.
