Bitcoin prices keep up bearish trend

    Posted: 06 Apr 2018 07:06 AM PDT

What is your bear market song?

    Posted: 06 Apr 2018 09:01 AM PDT

A friend of mine and I both have our personal bear market songs:

    Drowning Pool - Bodies

    Pitbull & KeSha - Timber

The lyrics of these two songs nicely reflect bear markets and dips in general.

So now here is my question: Do you have a song that comes to your mind at every further leg down? What is your bear market song?

History of superfast crashes and recovery?

    Posted: 06 Apr 2018 03:27 AM PDT

I remember reading about some crypto crashing 98% for only a few seconds and someone getting his ridiculous limit order filled, and that some called it "a glitch" others "a hack" and that exchanges said it happened "regularly".
Is there somewhere I can read about all of those seconds-long market crashes-recoveries?

How I Learned That Technical Analysis (TA) Isn't Complete BS

    Posted: 06 Apr 2018 12:11 PM PDT

Ever since I joined the crypto world, I've heard one major thing over and over: "Technical analysis (TA) is bullshit."

I took the TA bashers at their word for the longest time. After all, I knew little about technical analysis and thought the market was controlled by manipulative whales, hedge funds, fat cats and various and sundry others. (Hint: it is.)

But, I always was curious about TA. It seemed to me that the only ones really making money during this bear market are the folks who have mastered the art of short-term trades or predicting profitable trends. Having the ability to margin trade, ride short-term uptrends, predict price futures, etc. must making some people a lot of money.

So, I decided to take the plunge and learn a bit of TA. So that I could speak from an informed perspective as to whether it was BS or not.

But, I was not willing to make risky trades or margin calls. Instead, I wanted a place to practice my new-found skills in a completely low-risk way.

Before I tell you how I did it, I should say that my (admittedly beginner-level TA skills) have yielded incredible results: my TA (based on simple support/resistance analysis) has had an accuracy of more than 75%.

Here's the catch: I've only seen this level of accuracy over extremely short time frames: 1-24 hours. I'm sure those with more skills and experience can do better over longer periods.

Here's how I tested my skills in a fun way.

There's a dAPP that's currently under development called Ethorse. (Disclaimer: I'm an investor in this project.) Several times a day, I conduct price action analysis and make a bet on which coin will see the lowest drop/greatest rise in price over an hour-long or 24-hour long period.

After a while, I become very good at spotting short-term trends using TA that allowed me to predict price action accurately over these shorter-term periods. To date, my success rate is 75%. Because I really enjoy studying trends and learning new strategies, I'm sure this will improve over time.

    So, that's my story.

Do I believe TA works for predicting short-term cryptocurrency price movements? Yes.

Can it predict whether BTC will reach $20,000 this year? I'm not so sure about that.

Can it predict the prices of highly manipulated alt-coins? I'm doubtful.

But, this experiment has taught me that TA is not complete BS and that it can be useful in certain situations.

I now believe that although TA is not a crystal ball, it can be very useful for taking short-term advantage of trends and market movements.

Would love to hear what you think — especially more experienced TA people. Is TA best applied in crypto over short time periods?
