BTC less than 10% of XRP trade pairing

    Posted: 30 Mar 2018 04:29 AM PDT

Looking at https://www.livecoinwatch.com/price/Ripple-XRP and noticed XRP/BTC trading pairs are less than 10% of total trading volume, during a period of high trading volume. This has been true during high volume trading periods.

    What this tells me:

    1) The conventional wisdom that BTC or ETH is needed for trading or buying XRP is becoming increasingly less true, and based on the top trading pairs KRW & JPY, is a very western way of looking at a much more global liquidity picture.

    2) looking at CMC market share graph, As BTC reclaims more market share, this has mostly been at the expense of ETH is giving up far more % market share than XRP in the last few weeks. This gives me hope in an otherwise bleak market. This positions XRP well for the next bull run, whenever that may be.

    3) The relationship with BTC price is in how the markets move as an asset class holistically, usually through automated bot trading based on TA, and not in the fact that BTC is the onramp for buying XRP.

Nothing earth shattering here, just more of a discussion point in trying to better understand the effect of BTC on the XRP market.

Ripple - Why You Should Pay Attention to DWOLLA

    Posted: 30 Mar 2018 06:59 AM PDT

I have created a terminal crypto portfolio and ticker. Any comments to improve it will be appreciated.

    Posted: 30 Mar 2018 02:02 PM PDT

Tickly is a terminal crypto portfolio and ticker that gets data directly from the exchanges API. It works under GNU/Linux, MacOS and Windows (through Ubuntu terminal) and updates in real time. It is written in Python and uses ncurses for the interface.

Some of the advanced data (high 24h, low 24h, change 24h) is still buggy but the basics work quite good already. I'd appreciate any comments or errors you can get. The implementation is quite naive for now, but at least I got it working. Everything is better explained at Github.

    The supported exchanges are:

    • Binance
    • Bitfinex
    • Bithumb
    • Bitstamp
    • Bittrex
    • Coinbase
    • Coinone
    • Gdax
    • Gemini
    • Hitbtc
    • Kraken
    • Kucoin
    • Poloniex

    Uphold experience/review

    Posted: 30 Mar 2018 05:58 AM PDT

I decided to evaluate Uphold and thought I'd post details as they pertain to an XRP user using them. (I'm not affiliated, just sharing info)

Uphold doesn't appear as an exchange like Kraken or Bittrex. It's more of a site that offers an intuitive way to fund, store, and move between currencies. There is no charting or advanced trading controls.

My initial thoughts are that its pretty user friendly and convenient for purchases up to $500/day for US customers. There doesn't seem to be a limit for SEPA transfers which seem to only be available to European based accounts.

Convenience comes at a price, although depending how much you are funding, it may be cheaper when funding by debit card depending how much you are sending and how much your bank charges to wire.

Verification and support inquiries were quick. Will be interesting to see how that holds up with higher client volume.

Off the top of my head, heres some pros & cons:

    Pros:

    • Easy & pleasant signup process
    • Verification wasn't too invasive, just a photo of your ID and yourself
    • I was verified within a couple hours
    • I funded via a debit card shortly after that. Funds available within minutes.
    • XRP purchase was easy
    • Support question answered promptly, in the middle of the night (US)

    Cons:

    • You cannot send XRP to an external wallet yet, however it is said to be coming in the next couple weeks.
    • Convenience comes at a price

They use a concept of 'cards', like credit cards. Each currency has its own card, and you have a balance on it. It's actually an intuitive abstraction of a traditional table of currencies with balances listed.

I currently use 2 cards: USD card, and XRP card.

When I click on the USD card, I have options to:

    • Fund from US Bank Account (ACH)
      • $3.99 flat rate
      • $50 min
      • $500/day max
      • Takes up to 5 days
      • $10k withdrawl limit per day
    • Fund with Bank Account SEPA (Seems to be a Europe only thing?)
      • $3.99 flat rate
      • 75 euros or 100 lbs min
      • 50k euro/lbs withdrawl limit per day
    • Fund from Credit/Debit Card
      • 3.99% fee
      • $50 min
      • $500 max/day
    • Fund with Crptocurrency or Utility Token (BTC LTC ETH BAT BCH DASH BTG)
      • $2.99 flat fee + additional fee varies per coin
      • No min/max

    Additional fees are for converting:

    • .65% USD EUR GBP
    • .95 to 1.4% for other fiats
    • 1.4% XRP ETH LTC BCH
    • 1.05 BTC

Heres a link to funding & withdrawl limits: https://support.uphold.com/hc/en-us/articles/206118653-Account-funding-withdrawal-costs-and-limits-

TL;DR: Quick & easy verification, you can fund $500 immediately from debit/credit card, cannot transfer to external wallets yet but that should be enabled within 2 weeks.

Why we should now become bullish

    Posted: 30 Mar 2018 02:17 AM PDT

    Morning all.

So yesterday was the day a lot of us were expecting, a W double bottom on the candles. In classic TA it usually signals a trend reversal, so the next couple of days should confirm it. If true we should have a good 5-8 weeks of bullish price action.

One thing TA can't really predict is market maniupulation, so it remains to be seen. I for one have been looking at the charts over the last two weeks waiting for the drop to .50 again to signal the trend reversal, so that at least looks like it's doing as it should.

Take a look at this image of a classic double bottom:

    http://d.stockcharts.com/school/data/media/chart_school/chart_analysis/chart_patterns/double_bottom_reversal/doublebot-utx.png

Then look at this image of the BTC charts over the last few months:

    https://s31.postimg.org/4iszvqijv/Capture.jpg

You'll see that where we are right now on our chart is essentially the point of the trend reversal. We will need a few days of additional data to come in, and hopefully it will now become bullish for some time. Try not to get too bogged down on daily TA, it's always the bigger picture with big flips like this, so ride it out for a few days and then go back to the charts to see if we're following.

Another strong indicative factor is the volume of XRP, If we look at the last week you can see our volume increasing significantly in the last 12 hours:

    https://s31.postimg.org/3yn5kkm3f/Capture.jpg

A lot of the time it tends to be a self fulfilling prophecy as traders see a classic trend reversal like this, they then start to buy up the asset because they feel confident that the ensuing price action will be upward, so that adds more volume which moves the price upward.

Today should be a fun day for both day traders and HODLers, enjoy it!

30-31 March Ripple Technical Prediction - XRPUSD Forecast

    Posted: 30 Mar 2018 06:03 AM PDT

What do you think the chances are of XRP replacing BTC?

    Posted: 30 Mar 2018 06:22 AM PDT

I'm impressed with how far Ripple has evolved over the last 12 months. It has a proven use-case.

BTC has brand recognition. The whole ecosystem built around bitcoin is expanding.

Generally speaking, its hard to understand the supply/ demand dynamics of bitcoin. If it does fall below $4k I read that BTC miners lose profits /money.

Is there any chance that Ripple could become n.o 1

Bithomp no longer allows me to sort payments and exchanges by date. Does anyone know of another wallet explorer that I can use to view payments and exchanges older than 2 years?

    Posted: 30 Mar 2018 05:21 AM PDT

I've looked around a lot and searched the subreddit and google and nothing is coming up. I was just using Bithomp a couple weeks ago and it was fine. I was able to sort everything nicely and could get the information I needed.

Now, I can't sort things and can only see the last 200 transactions on my wallet with over 3000 transactions.

    Why do we fall?

    Posted: 29 Mar 2018 09:49 PM PDT

So we can learn to peak overselves up...!!!

Dear members, most of you might be aware of these famous quote from batman movie.

The thing which i see here is that this dip will make other cryptos free from the dady bitcoin. This is just the bubble burst, and once its completed, the coin which have potential will rise on their own.

And i see a huge potential in xrp and ripple company. Also the bottom is near so there is no point in selling now. Just keep HODLing and we all will rise together.

No matter how much FUD may be there that cryptos will touch zero. But we all know that its not going to happen. So instead of cursing, consider this as a opportunity to fill up your bags.

Just remember, EACH XRP PURCHASED NOW WILL MATTER- Right now for everybody, but in the long term for yourself.
