Are GPU mining returns dropping faster then its possible to pay it off?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2018 02:00 AM PST

I having a mining rig with 5x1070's, and have been mining since December. I am using Nicehash.

In December, my rig was averaging a 0.0016 BTC per day return. Yet currently (with nothing changing), I am getting a 0.0009 BTC per day return, it, almost a 50% drop off. Is this purely related to the difficulty increasing? Or have a messed something up?

Also, should I look at changing from Nicehash to something else give the drop in returns?

A good server PSU to upcycle for mining

    Posted: 03 Mar 2018 01:02 AM PST

I had someone message me about the PSU's I use for my mining rig and figured I would share the info with everyone.

I use HP 499243-B21 which is a 2400w PSU from their c7000 blades. That particular model is only 92%+ efficient, but the price was right at $140 for a pair of them shipped to my house. I spend another $150 on cables and connectors to harness them up and get them ready for 240v plugs (input range is 200-240v 50/60hz). I went all out and used very nice wire, sleeving, and quick disconnects, but if you wanted to go bare minimum on wiring you could cut that in half.

These things scream once they get warmed up so they are not good living room machines but considering I spent less than $300 for 4800w of 12v power, I don't really care. But be aware, they are 70CM long in their stock form.

If you look around you can also find some that are 94%+ efficient and can supply upwards of 2600w.

If you don't want to do the harness work yourself you can just buy them pre-done

    Are GPU's becoming more obtainable?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2018 09:01 PM PST

Its pretty easy to buy gpu's right now, albeit one at a time and using in-stock notifications. I'm a complete noob and bought 4 identical 1080s rather easily. Is this low profitability period making gpus more obtainable?

Crypto Gui Miner - official thread and support

    Posted: 03 Mar 2018 06:57 AM PST

This is the official thread for support and development of CryptoGuiMiner! Please any suggest, criticize and praise.

I see that there are a lot of questions and different answers on forums on the subject of mining cryptocurrencies. So now… which cryptocurrency should you be mining and how? For beginners and people with no knowledge of cryptocurrencies, the biggest issue are the very basics like adjusting the settings which can be complicated and hard to figure out. If you want to start mining, it must be way more complicated than just a few clicks! Or is it? So you don't have to bother, lose time or God forbid adjust something wrongly, there is an interesting piece of software that helps you and does everything automatically for you. I'm writing this because I myself am using this software and can confirm that it is definitely the best solution for everyone who is new in the world of cryptocurrency mining.

The program is called Crypto Gui Miner and it you can download it from https://cryptoguiminer.com/ (Crypto Gui Miner | Free Easy GPU Mining Software Application)

The main thing which makes this program so special and what sets it apart from the others is the simplicity and automatic set-up function. There is even a calculator on their website that will calculate which cryptocurrency is the most profitable to mine, depending on the graphics cards that you use.

When you run the program, it will automatically recognize the graphics cards that you are using and adjust the settings so that it mines the cryptocurrency that is the most profitable. You also have a nice and clear display of temperature and other useful data such as hashrates, estimated monthly earnings in US dollars or Bitcoin, monitoring for tracking results via mobile phone, etc. All you have to do is insert your wallet address so you can dafely save the currency you are mining directly into your wallet (and it is saved automatically). The best place for creating your wallet is the official website of the cryptocurrency that you wish to start mining. Of course, you always have control over what and when you will be mining.

You can also enter more than one wallet into the program, so the program will mine the currency that is the most profitable at that time. However, if you only wish to mine one cryptocurrency, then just click on the button "Force" and the chosen cryptocurrency will be mined regardless of the others.

In short, don't focus on mining Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum or other currencies that are difficult to mine and you need hardware of 100+ thousands of EUR. Focus on currencies that can quickly be mined and monetized, converted into cash or for buying other cryptocurrrencies or if you plan to invest them in the long run. Just download the program, choose one or more currencies for mining, insert your wallet and that is it. No complicated settings, losing time, uncertainties etc.

Why isn't the RX560 hash rate stable like the RX570/580 ones?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2018 06:26 AM PST

    Hi guys!

I'm mining with some RX570 and the hash rate values of the cards are pretty stable: ever ~880H/s on XMR and ever ~29Mh/s on ETH. I'm also trying to mine with an RX560 and I found that the hash rate of this card isn't stable but extremely variable. It varies from 400 to 460 H/s on XMR and from 12 to 14,5 Mh/s on ETH, it never stays stable for a period of time.

Is it normal? Is there a way to get it stable on the high value?

For sake of tech: the card is a Gigabyte RX560 4GB OC rev.2 with BIOS mod(1500 stripe and 1050gpu/2040mem).

Is it possible to remotely access a computer not connected to a monitor?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2018 06:19 PM PST

I'll be moving my rigs to a more remote location to take advantage of some cheaper electricity. But not all the rigs will be connected to a monitor. I know I can use a smart plug to restart the machine if it freezes but can I remotely access the computer if its not plugged into a monitor?

    Free GTS 450's

    Posted: 02 Mar 2018 11:06 AM PST

I bought two of these cards advertised as GTX 960's, knowing they were reflashed fake cards, but I was curious anyways. Plus now I have a couple of extra cards to test mobo's with and use for spacing out GPU frame's etc.

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/292404498464

Buy them on eBay, wait till you receive, file a claim with the seller/Paypal and get a full refund (with no return).

Yes, they're useless for mining, but what the hell, its free! And no I don't feel bad, nor should you. These guy's are ripping people off selling these as 960's. I'm sure plenty of people don't realize they're fake and run them anyways.

Youtube link to a German guy who took one apart to find out what it really was. Use the subtitle translator.

Over engineered solar system with extra power, which GPU

    Posted: 02 Mar 2018 06:04 PM PST

Long story short, the solar system on my house generates a lot of extra power every month that I'm essentially losing. So in this instance, where power consumption isn't a concern, which GPU has the best hash rate based on initial purchase price?

Bitcoin market cap dominance and GPU mining.

    Posted: 02 Mar 2018 03:54 PM PST

A lot of people here seem to be talking about how mining profitability is dropping...and I just wanted to talk about the possible reasons. There are obviously many factors, but profitability spiked in Jan when btc market dominance plummeted from 65% in Dec to 32% in Jan. Now it seems BTC is slowly gaining back its dominance and its currently back at 39% of the entire crypto marketcap, and profitability of GPU mining seems to drop because all of the alts are struggling to retain their value while BTC gains more of the market.

If btc is regaining market dominance and gaining value while most altcoin prices struggle, it seems like profitability will continue to fall on gpu mining, but if it reverses and alts start gaining value in relationship to btc, I suspect profitability will likely go up or at least stop falling. Imagine a service like Nicehash. People pay nicehash x amount of btc to buy hashpower to mine altcoins, and less people would be interested in paying btc to mine altcoins if btc is gaining value in fiat and alts are mostly sliding compared to btc. Or if you are autoexchanging btc in a pool...if btc is going up in price and most alts are sliding or stagnating, you will get less profit with gpu's which can only mine alts as people are more likely to hold btc and dump alts based on the charts. This obviously doesn't take certain things into account, such as more people mining, etc...

constant reboot, card not being found

    Posted: 02 Mar 2018 11:09 PM PST

i was doing a bios mod on a powercolor rx 570 8gb and a MSI armor rx 580 (they were done individually) but they both failed.

Now i can't get windows 10 to detect either of the cards. I've switched out risers to known working risers but i still dont see the the cards in Device Manager.

Are these cards bricked?! If not any way to correct the issue?

btw when i boot with a working gfx card it shows up but this powercolor does not. sometimes the computer just gets stuck in a boot loop

[Question] How many GPU will this MOBO allow me to mine?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2018 09:02 PM PST

    http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z97%20Anniversary/

    1 PCIe 3.0 x16, 3 PCIe 2.0 x1, 2 PCI

I am not yet educated on how GPU works with different kind of PCI slots. I believe I already have GTX 1060 3GB installed. This was my budget gaming pc in my room. I already have a mining rig on my x99..was easy to setup.

Now before I install a second gpu in this z97 asrock anniversary mobo will PCIe 2.0 allow me to have run GPU on this? im looking at the picture ->

    http://www.asrock.com/mb/photo/Z97%20Anniversary(L3).png

    Will another GPU work?

    Thanks
