So this EOS guy tries to convince people, why EOS is superior to ETH ... Posted: 29 Mar 2018 01:40 AM PDT I recently discovered a discussion on FB between ETH and EOS fans. I am absolutely pro ETH, but this guy delivered a very techy answer, which I am not able to see through. Would someone please tell me, where he is possibly right and wrong? His comment: "i agree, time and adoption will tell, but also money (EOS has the biggest war chest for development), Governance (token holders control the blockchain so interests are aligned), Free storage on the blockchain (A must for creating websites), Free transactions (A must for creating websites), Performance (0.5 sec blocktime is a must for non-laggy websites), Infinite scalability ( a must for global blockchain adoption). ALL THIS, will be available in june or few months after (storage) on EOS but not on Ethereum. Ethereum will never have free transactions on a fully decentralized network before EOS. Right now, the killer DAPPS are the Internet 3.0 and DAO and EOS will be the best platform to create such DAPPs. Inform yourself on EOS github ..." bla bla bla bla... Someone more savvy willing to get to the bottom of this statement? Would be much appreciated. Thx Cheers! EDIT: i really don't understand the downvotes. [link] [comments]

Update on Metropolis 2 - Constantinople Posted: 29 Mar 2018 09:56 AM PDT Can anyone tell me what the latest info is on the second Metropolis hardfork? It was announced for early Q4 2017, then end Q4 2017, but after that I haven't heard anymore info. Is Caspar PoS still supposed to be a part of it? [link] [comments]

If you could change one thing about ethereum what would it be? Posted: 29 Mar 2018 10:51 AM PDT If you could change one thing about ethereum what would it be? I'm curious to know what people think its shortcoming are / could be. There was a time over a year ago I thought it was the future and now so many competitors are coming out its hard to see it that clearly. [link] [comments]

What about the thousands of seemingly useless pending txs? Posted: 29 Mar 2018 08:34 AM PDT All the while during the last few bear months whenever I checked (did it every other day) the pending tx count was in the single digit thousands. Now for a few days it's been in the 20-30k. Last time this happened was in December and January and the network was really slow. Not so slow now, last time I used it. I assume a pending tx does not enter into the daily tx count statistic on etherscan if it stays pending or is rejected. Otherwise it would have shot up a bit and not stagnate like it does. Also the addresses seem to have very low activity and no or almost no value, and every tx transfers 0 eth, but also no tokens are transferred. An example address is https://etherscan.io/address/0xfac12345b496bb74e6d0cbc2d1a7061b80881f7c What is happening there? [link] [comments]

Posted: 29 Mar 2018 07:25 PM PDT So I started a project just over a month ago called Parachute - you can get more info here. I came from the startup space and really loved the potential of crypto to build cool communities around new companies. I know airdrops are kind of scammy and suck generally - but I though there was a cool way they could be used - which is what we're figuring out at Parachute :) It isn't perfect - but we have 3 companies (including ours) that we give away tokens for for free. We give away some for being in the community - we also give a ton more for people who get engaged - also for weekly game tournaments and stupid stuff that's fun. I want to change how we interact with companies - I was tired of just chasing prices and wanted to make something more so I did. I'd love it if ya took a minute to check it out and give some feedback - it's pretty easy to get started - parachutetoken.com [link] [comments]

ASIC - Long term implications - Please correct me. Posted: 28 Mar 2018 11:26 PM PDT Let me start by stating where I come from: I have been holding ETH since the crowdfunding and I still hold the vast majority of it. I did not sell at 1,400$ because my vision is that Ethereum could really become the biggest deal in history of mankind, IF it delivers on the promises. Therefore as long as the fundamentals are intact (i.e. what Ethereum might do one day) I do not pay too much attention to the price as it is just noise. Yet, for the second time since 2015 (the DAO being the first), I fear that the fundamental vision might have to be reconsidered if ASIC mining come into be. So, I put the below questions to the community: 1 – If ASIC mining comes into existence, how are we going to switch to POS? Would the community propose a fork later on switching to POS? Obviously no ASIC miners would fork and would continue to mine the old chain to the point the ice age kicks in again. At that point they can fork to a POW chain where the ice age has been removed from the protocol but everything else is intact. 2 – I understand that most if not all of the road-map for Ethereum requires POS to be implemented. If POS does not happen, does that mean that sharding cannot happen neither? Therefore, it appears to me that, once ASIC exists, a hard fork is inevitable at one point. The only choice that is left to the community is forking now (a preventive strike, assuming is not too late already) changing the algo or forking later to POS leaving the ASIC miners on the old chain. In any case a fork is required if Ethereum wants to deliver on the original vision. Am I wrong/missing something here? [link] [comments] |
