- I remember having very interesting discussions about Bitcoin on reddit, in 2011. Let's bring those back. I'll start: Bitcoin(bch and btc) hashrate can not go up indefinitely. Somewhere in the future it will flatline and one day it might drop down. What are the implications of hash rate going down?

Block-size would need to be 555 MB for bitcoin to scale to VISA levels. 78 TB every year! Posted: 10 Mar 2018 08:40 PM PST But so what? This is 2018. Google fiber can upload/download new blocks of that size in 4 seconds. DSL can do it in a minute. Your average server farm can hold thousands of terabytes. Facebook servers process around 750TB of new data every day. Scaling via block-size was always the plan. In 2010, when BTC was worth nothing and transactions were free, the limit was added until Bitcoin had value, to discourage malicious network spamming which would have bloated the blockchain while BTC was still bootstrapping. Bitcoin now has substantial value and transactions aren't free (BCH is about 6 cents), so large scale (larger than visa) malicious network spamming is no longer realistic unless you have many millions of dollars you're willing to give away 6 cents at a time. With new people coming into the space everyday, I feel it's important to actively inform against scaling FUD. [link] [comments]

Pro tip: When teaching new users about Bitcoin (BCH) send them $2 and ask them to send you back $1 Posted: 10 Mar 2018 09:07 PM PST This method gets users learning how to both send and receive. If youre brave increase that to $100 and have them send $99 back. (•_•) ( •_•)>⌐■-■ (⌐■_■) Edit - just so this is clear this is only valid for in real life onboarding. Don't send anyone money expecting more in return. Don't be a dummy. [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Mar 2018 08:59 PM PST Bitcoin will always be reborn during attempts to constraint it as long as there is a strong community to fight for it. [link] [comments]

I finally got the shits and unsubscribed from r/bitcoin Posted: 10 Mar 2018 07:15 PM PST While I have been banned for months, I still kept it in my list to see interesting developments. This bitpay mess is the last straw. Watching them turn on one of the major supporters of bitcoin like a pack of rabid pitchfork wielding villagers is as sad as it is disgraceful. Good riddance r/bitcoin. Don't forget to hodl all the way down. The last dip ends at zero! [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Mar 2018 09:37 AM PST Stephen Pair, the CEO of Bitpay (the largest payment processor), was nice enough to provide a calm, detailed explanation of Bitpay network fees. rBitcoin responds with personal attacks.
In case you're wondering what this is all about.. 100,000+ merchants now start accepting Bitcoin Cash, thanks to Bitpay, the largest payment processor.

Posted: 10 Mar 2018 02:20 PM PST Hashrate has increased exponentially since 2016. Do you think this growth rate is sustainable? In the next 10 year we are going to see the end of Moore's law
This also means that the growth rate of ASIC increased efficiency will also slow down as transistors are getting so small, they can't go any smaller. It's likely that in the next 2 to 3 years we will already see hashpower growth rate decline (so it will start growing slower). I expect a graph like this. Do you agree, yes .. no? And what will happen after. Will hashrate plateau and then stay at that, or will it ever significially go down? The price of electricity is probably directly related to this question. If for some reason electricity prices worldwide would go up very rapidly we might see a sudden decline in hashrate as the miners with the smallest profit margins start switching of their equipment. So far in the last 8 years we have never seen a decline in hashrate, but someday it is bound to happen. What do you think the effects of that would be? Remember: theory and practise are the same in theory but not in practise! [link] [comments]

Posted: 10 Mar 2018 05:43 PM PST I wanted to send a huge congratulations to the people behind Bitcoin Cash. You have almost completed a masterstroke. It has been an exceptionally skillful and opportune act. I applaud you. Thank you for saving Bitcoin. Thank you for providing a superb alternative currency. The world needs it more than ever. I honestly cannot see a valid reason to put money into BTC or any other cryptocurrency. On the other hand Bitcoin Cash is cherished. It has had an excellent roll-out and the future looks bright. Bitcoin Cash has a proven record that demonstrates trust. That is what I have learned since its fork. The developers of Bitcoin Cash clients have earned our good faith. Once establishment investors see the same thing demand will 🚀.
