From a small business perspective, if the purchase transaction is greater than ~$4.00, I would save money by accepting bitcoin over credit card payments. This is because credit card transactions cost about 5%.

    Posted: 28 Mar 2018 09:11 PM PDT

Cash however, is still king, as it as zero fees and will always be prefered, as some purchases within the store only have 5% profit margin. It's not the majority. If I was a "cash only" store, as many businesses are because of small profit margins, what would be some advantages of accepting bitcoin? Or will always just be a competitor to convenient card transactions?

Delicious Proof that Roger Employs Sockpuppets!

    Posted: 28 Mar 2018 09:06 AM PDT

Roger has said on several occasions, very loudly and sometimes while waving his middle finger at the camera, that he absolutely does not employ sockpuppet accounts of any kind.

Besides his failed 'feed the birds' project that let anyone on his website pay others to be twitter sockpuppets, it's been hard to pin him down to actually employing them, until now.

After writing a particularly slanted article about Slush's AsicBoost news over the weekend, Bitcoin dot com news writer Jamie Redmond got called out by Bitcoin Magazine's writer Aaron van Wirdum on Twitter:

    https://twitter.com/AaronvanW/status/977964052193468421

After Aaron called Jamie's source "misinformed noise," Jamie took it as an insult and exited the argument quickly, only to pick up the conversation as a sockpuppet called 'Jonathan Herringbone.'

During that parlance, Jamie then forgot to switch his account back to Herringbone's for one response, and answered as himself, talking about himself in the third person to continue the argument:

    https://twitter.com/AaronvanW/status/978458647490646016

To make matters worse, Jamie then deleted his post, but not before the Internet Archive took a snapshot of it:

    http://web.archive.org/web/20180325235159/https:/twitter.com/jamieCrypto/status/978054447984082944

Jamie then Blocked Aaron, and followed up on the thread by claiming that he is under attack, and that Aaron is fabricating evidence against him:

    https://twitter.com/AaronvanW/status/978676364407660545

This is Roger's Senior writer at his newsdesk, clearly an employee. If Roger wants to keep claiming he never employs sockpuppets, he'd now have to fire Jamie.

Note: The stupid auto-mod removed the first attempt at this post because I typed a single word referring to bee-cee-h's coin's name. The automod needs an upgrade asap!

A warning to everyone that decide to spent Bitcoin to Tokyo. Never pay with RBF Wallets. They refuse payments and they will steal your bitcoin.

    Posted: 28 Mar 2018 11:14 PM PDT

As the title says never try to buy something with bitcoin in Tokyo with wallets that do Replace by fees transactions.
They will not accept the payment even if it has at once conifrmations.
That happen to me when i try to buy something from Bic Camera using Samurai Wallet. They refuse my payment even it has 2 confirmation. I was half hour there talking with bitflyer customer support(biflyer is the payment provider for any shop that acccept bitcoin in Tokyo) and they promise that will refund my bitcoin.
Some days after and bitcoin has not refund yet. I think i have lost them forever :(
For the history i have done succesfuly a purchase from Bic Camera before some month using Copay. But because copay has become a crap wallet and now focus to support bcash shitcoin i decide to drop it and to start using Samurai.

    Valve, Steam and Bitcoin support

    Posted: 28 Mar 2018 10:16 PM PDT

Is anyone else sincerely disappointed that Valve dropped btc support during the dust spam event that sent fees soaring?

It was one of the few places I enjoyed spending btc and I can't think I was the only one that didn't want to lodge my CC details with them but still purchase games.

How could one (or a group) go about trying to get them to reconsider. Especially now that the network fees are super low again. Petition maybe?

Why can't Bitcoin retain its value?

    Posted: 28 Mar 2018 08:08 PM PDT

This is the question that so many people are asking. Why did it jump so high in value just to come crashing down? Well im not a professional by no means, but from my research and study I have my opinion.

The main reason I think it can't retain its value is- people are treating it as a stock and investment vehicle. However the true idea behind bitcoin is for it to be a digital currency.

A currency is used to exchange goods and services, but as we all know mass adoption hasn't made it here yet so actual bitcoin transactions are minimal. Meaning a service or good was paid for in bitcoin.

From my understanding this is how it should work... Bitcoin as Currency Example-i have $5000 in cash , i then purchase/convert my $5000 in cash into BTC. Then i use my btc to do everyday transactions. So lets say I buy a cheeseburger and for it in btc. The btc is deducted from my wallet and transferred to the vendor. Done its paid for. The value of bitcoin doesn't change, it only changes hands- the value still stays with-in the btc market.

However what is happening is... Bitcoin as investment vehicle Example- I buy $5000 in bitcoin, then 500 more people buy $5000 in bitcoin, we see a huge increase in bitcoin value, so I see my $5000 turn into $7000, so now I sell it. I walk away with $2000 of someone else's money. Now that money is taken out of the bitcoin market

The difference between a stock and btc- the stock is backed by a product that generates revenue. Bitcoin only has value from the money someone invests in it. Because ideally if it were a currency- if I'm worth $100,000 usd, and I buy $100,000 btc- my net worth doesn't change, it doesn't become worth more. I simply just transact in btc aka DIGITAL CASH

Sorry for the long rant, and I know its not well put together but i hope everyone gets the idea behind what I'm trying to explain.

Bitcoin will never grow in value until mass adoption happens and we are transacting in bitcoin and keeping the value in the market, until then people will continue to treat it as an investment vehicle and when they see btc increase in value they are going to convert it back to usd ... Taking money out of the market.

Even for the hodlers that say they won't sell until $200,000. That's going to be so detrimental to bitcoin, why would you sell it? The idea is to use BTC over USD/other currencies, but instead you plan to sell your btc for more usd?

Once again, sorry for the rant. Please correct anything you may feel is wrong. This is just my personal view on what is going on based on my research.

Edit- I appreciate everyone's views and feedback.

Most other subreddits if you post something everyone doesn't agree on, then you get a lot of negativity. I'm glad civil conversations can be had on this subject
