During the midst of the downswing, did you see this condescending email follow up from Weiss ratings?...

    Posted: 03 Feb 2018 05:19 AM PST

Below is the actual copy/paste email. Sounds like a little kid running back saying "naha I told you so!" I thought the ratings were pretty laughable and uninformed for crypto (looking at XRP=Doge of course). That's my personal opinion. We all know we have a real world use case and the announcements will keep going. But this email makes these guys seem like children.

    Smaller Risk and Bigger Profits

    Dear Investor,

NOW do you see why NO cryptocurrency got an A in our inaugural ratings release last week?

NOW does it make more sense why Bitcoin got a C+?

NOW do you understand why the industry's outrage against our ratings was, in itself, a telltale sign of more troubles ahead?

You see, from the outset, all of the risks evident in the market today have been factored into our Risk Index.

But the good news is that much of the greed and hype is getting cleansed from the market even as we speak.

This week, the market first got smacked with the Coincheck hack, the largest in cryptocurrency history (in U.S. dollar terms). Then it got slammed with the Tether dilemma.

    Crypto markets tanked.

Market cap, which started the week at around $600 billion, plunged to just above $400 billion this morning.

In today's issue of Weiss Cryptocurrency Ratings, we give you …

Simple steps so you can use our ratings to aim for smaller risk and bigger profits. A complete list of all our latest ratings and how to use them. In-depth reviews of the few cryptocurrencies that currently get our "Buy" rating and are the most likely to give investors the best returns. Plus much more. If you are a subscriber, check your in-box now.

    Best wishes,

    Why worry about Banks ?

    Posted: 03 Feb 2018 09:49 AM PST

[QUESTION] : Why worry about Banks ? Ripple has enough money and liquidity to start becoming a bank itself .. like a bank for businesses. Capture a niche market (ex: Letters of Credit) and grow from there. If they keep going after banks which are very hesitant / slow / to adopt .. might as well, open your own Bank. LCs / Letters of Credit was a $250B business to JP Morgan in 2014. Own that with ripple.

The Ripple Bank does not need to be a physical one ... look at ING. They were so ahead of their time that their early days of banking used to be through phone.

Anyways - just some thought. Ripple community is turning into a down-vote horde. This was just a suggestion.

just started watching the ParisFinTech youtube vid

    Posted: 03 Feb 2018 11:16 AM PST

Not sure if there will be anything on there but I am watching it because Groupe Credit Agricole promised that they were going to speak about the XCurrent testing that they conducted. I am guessing this link is the correct video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h95_OJ4vxTA&list=PLyftCC-PziqaUJyKuPwecXLz9K7XSPWSU

The tweet that caused me to look this up: "We'll be able to say more at the #ParisFinTechForum next tuesday afternoon where we'll present the stakes and challenges of the test. If you're not there you can follow us :)"

    RipWallet for iOS?

    Posted: 03 Feb 2018 04:29 PM PST

Does anyone have experience with the RipWallet app on iOS? I'm on iOS 10 (and plan on staying here) which means I can't use Toast because it requires iOS 11. So I searched the App Store for a Toast alternative that works with iOS 10, and I found RipWallet.

The app was just released on 1/29/2018 and it does not have any reviews yet on the App Store. I tried visiting the developers website (http://www.ripwalletapp.com/) to get more info, but the site is currently down for maintenance.

It looks/seems promising based on my brief usage, but I wanted to see if anyone here had used RipWallet before transferring my XRP into it. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, as I'm anxious to transfer my coins to a secure wallet so that they're no longer stored on an exchange.

    News for Rippex Wallet Users

    Posted: 03 Feb 2018 08:28 AM PST

I just received this email below from Rippex.

Rippex discloses a schedule to close its Ripple gateway services

    Dear Rippex user,

In 2014, Netmint created an unprecedented service in Brazil by launching Rippex, a solution that allows deposits and withdrawals in Brazilian reais, to and from ripple accounts. That is one of the first solutions of its kind and the first one in Brazil to use the Ripple platform and provide access to the XRP currency.

Our history over the last three years has been marked by the growth of our brand, by the expansion of our services and investments to make our processes even more timely and safe, and, above all, by the development of the trust of our customers and users. We started out with 40 users in the first and today they are thousands.

Along the way, the market has evolved exponentially, which allowed us to grow at the same pace. The national and global scenarios and the progress of technologies provided the leverage needed to expand our business, however restructuring our models is essential to enhance the impact of our products and services. Nevertheless, we highlight that we will continue to work with Ripple and developing the ecosystem around XRP and digital assets as a whole.

We honor a history of credibility and trust and every day we reaffirm our commitment to transparency in servicing our users. That is why we publicly announce the end of the Rippex gateway project. (...)

    Full schedule in our blog,

Is there some good free Ripple wallet in development?

    Posted: 03 Feb 2018 07:51 AM PST

Ok, personal opinion (you've been warned!): ToastWallet sucks, Rippex is abandonware, Ledger Nano S... well, I don't see why I would need to use it, exchanges are not safe. Who'd like to develop finally a good Ripple wallet? I think, the community could raise money if needed. Please, support this post if you think the same. P.S. It would be interesting to know what Ripple team is using (e.g. JoelKatz), they don't make payments through a command line, right?
