Where do all the Ethereum programmers hang out?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2018 05:14 PM PST

Could my fellow Ethereum'ers give me directions to where the Ethereum programmers hang out? Is there a subreddit or perhaps IRC chat. Looking to hire some talent and pay to contribute some features to Ethereum privacy but need someone to put my plans into physical code. Thanks!

    ENS & .eth domains

With the 1 year coming up on the .eth domain renewals, what is happening to keep anyone from dumping their .eth domain and retrieving their refund? Almost nothing has been done to develop ENS interface.

Please do not use Facebook as your only website for the livestream. You cannot watch the livestream on a mobile device without using the Facebook app. I am sure that I am not the only one who does not use Facebook for various reasons, and I certainly will not install the app for livestreams.

Long term API for smart contracts to talk to?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2018 07:23 PM PST

I would like to write a futures smart contract. The contract would execute at a time in the future and would disburse funds based on data retrieved from an API at that time. The problem that I am conceiving is that the company/service which sponsors the API may change the service or even the syntax required for the API call such that when then contract finally executed the call would fail or return incorrect information and consequently affect the outcome of the smart contract.

Here is a simplified scenario I am picturing:

Bob bets 1 ETH that the price will be above 10,000 in a year. Alice bets 1 ETH that the price will be below 10,000 in a year. The funds go into the contract and the payout will determined by an API call done to a price ticker in a year's time. All details of the contract (including the API call) will be hard coded at the time of contract creation.

If the company/service changes the syntax required for such a call or terminates service altogether, the contract will fail.

Does anyone have insight on API's for price tickers and whether or not certain companies pledge to not terminate API service or change the required syntax?

Any other insight regarding this issue would be greatly helpful. Thank you.
