Buying BTC around $8,000, there is a 78% probability of gaining 38% in 30 days and 125% in 60 days based on the 1 day RSI signal (based on 14 occurrences since 2012)

    Thoughts on crypto trading strategy

    Posted: 04 Feb 2018 09:24 AM PST

    Hi there,

I'm starting out in crypto and would appreciate any thoughts, tips or comments on my planned approach.

    Goal: accumulate Ethereum and Bitcoin.

How: place buy and sell limit orders on five alt coins I am familiar with and use the price differences to accumulate.

For example, if I started with 1 Eth.

Buy 10 of coin x at 0.1 Eth

Place a sell order of 10 coin x at 0.2 Eth

Place a buy order of 20 of coin x at 0.1 Eth

Place a sell order of 20 coin x at 0.2...

I will probably have to be quite patient for the limit orders to hit.

Is this approach to naive? I will have 5 coins so I am not relying on one's price moving as I'd like.

    Thanks

Bitcoin’s 2 Month Low- Sign of the Time

    Posted: 04 Feb 2018 09:16 AM PST

2018 has been particularly cumbersome for the cryptocurrency markets, as Bitcoin and its altcoin brethren have endured a bashing. The preeminent cryptocurrency has hit a two month low sitting around $8,800 according to Coinmarketcap data at the time of writing.

There are a plethora of reasons why the market has been trampled in the first month of the new year. Much of this has been due to uncertainty over regulatory moves by governments around the world, in reaction to what was a revolutionary year for the cryptocurrency market as a whole.

Who has read "Attack of the 50 Foot Blockchain"? Serious discussion.

    Posted: 03 Feb 2018 10:42 AM PST

It is essentially a book criticizing Bitcoin, and blockchain technology in general. It is very well researched and documented, and analyzes crypto from multiple angles (social, technological, etc.). The author makes very compelling arguments against the viability of bitcoin, which makes you question if this entire crypto market makes any sense.

I for one am a hodler, and general believer in crypto and blockchain, though I can also acknowledge we're very early in the game, and the tech has ways to go before it matures.

In times like these, it's important to go back to the fundamentals and remember why we are investing in crypto in the first place. This books makes you face the difficult questions in crypto. For anyone who has read it, do you have any major counter arguments to this book?

Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with the book or author. The author did chime in on this post and is doing an AMA below. Don't be a hater, try to ask a useful question, you might learn something useful. I did.

Day 167, Kraken's temporary suspension of advanced order types still not back.

I just don't understand these people, holy shit all my posts are shitting them, but I cannot argue myself that this is not correct. Yes I am not on there anymore, well roughly 80% not there, but I don't understand why they keep everything silent and they just ignore stuff if they are not being talked about.

Here is the post from August 21st, now we even have a new engine, and that feature is not added back.

They fixed the engine, they have minor problems now and sometimes it lags, I do not find that a problem, but why continuously neglect information and status updates on stuff and now advanced trading, it is key for trader's good night sleep if nothing else, so give us a freaking answer, you people are kind of a white liers, we trust our privacy on your exchange, but we don't trust your promises because you barely kept any of them true. Oh and also, as many other times, tickets are again nothing but useless, undefined and vague on this topic.

Is there a site that plots the different exchange prices on top of each other in a single graph ?

    Posted: 03 Feb 2018 10:11 AM PST

I remember years ago there was a site that did this.. You could select a few exchanges, and that would plot a line graph for each of the exchanges on the same graph..

Can't for the love of it find it now or anything similar. Why is that ? It seems like such a straightforward thing..

    So I was wondering...

    Posted: 03 Feb 2018 02:14 PM PST

I read somewhere that if a whale would sell their BTC the price would go down a lot.

The amount of BTC needed to affect the market in such a way is not ''high'' (like 20 000 BTC, please correct me if I am wrong). For an early adopter that is nothing.

An early adopter could very easly want to invest his money in something new like real estate or a new project of his. He would easly sell everything and bring the price to near 2014 prices.

What do you think about this possibility?

I think early adopters have all the advantages to NOT do such a thing.

    • Their investment will keep growing

    • More trust in BTC (show that a decentralized future can be possible)

    • ...

But then again... If they are done with BTC they are done.

Spare a few moments for an entrepreneur group with an arbitrage business idea?

    Posted: 03 Feb 2018 10:53 AM PST

Hi folks. I'm a member on a team taking part in Startup Weekend.

We are exploring the creation of a system that allows holders of crypto to engage in arbitrage between cryptos and between exchanges. We'd like to find a few people who currently hold any kind of crypto and have engaged in arbitrage, or are at least aware of it, and can have a five to eight minute Skype call to answer a few questions.

Please respond here and we'll check back in when this post is about one hour old to set up times for conversation this afternoon.

Edit: If you're passing by and want to help out, please fill out this survey which would help us with our weekend pitches! It's a short survey!
