Cryptos flagged as potential opportunities from analyzing reddit data, week ending 2018-02-24

    Posted: 25 Feb 2018 07:15 AM PST

Here are this week's stats on the most discussed cryptos on reddit!

Update this week: I'm working on an indicator that flags cryptocurrencies that are being mentioned on reddit for the first time, to expose potential investment opportunities earlier. In backtesting, the indicator was able to flag NEO/Antshares in July 2017, Vechain in October 2017, and ICON in November 2017: all three went onto 10x in price. I'm sharing the cryptos flagged this week below.

Background: I wrote a program that scrapes reddit posts from r/cryptocurrency and r/altcoin, and calculates how much certain cryptocurrencies are mentioned, to help give an early indication of the next potential 10x crypto. Crowd sentiment has proven to be a good place to start for more research. I'm always working to make my insights more useful so please reach out with any comments, and stay tuned for updates!

If you prefer to follow along via email and get more kinds of insights every week, you can do so here.

Note: always do your own research. Not all cryptos with a lot of mentions are being talked about for good/positive reasons (e.g. BitConnect). Keep reading for info on getting a list of all recent posts so you can browse the headlines and gauge sentiment. Sentiment is also only one piece of the puzzle: fundamental research on the project and team itself is required to make a good investment decision.

    RECENTLY TRENDING CRYPTOS

    Highlights:

    1. This week, a high throughput blockchain platform (Zilliqa), a blockchain powered internet, operating system, and runtime for dApps (Elastos), and a blockchain project for crypto-asset and other digital information inheritance (DigiPulse) appeared on our list of cryptos that the community is talking more about for the first time. All three are recent ICOs.

    2. The founder of Nebulas, who is also a former co-founder of NEO/Antshares, did an AMA this week here.

    3. Nano's price is rebounding after a string of positive news: a new core update, a new Android wallet, and news of Twitch streamers accepting donations in Nano.

"Total Post Score" means the sum of net upvotes (or score) for all posts that mentioned the specified crypto.

    Reddit destroys Lucyd ICO

Inexperienced trader here: Took advantage of an opportunity, played it out well but i need an experienced person to explain me the backround factors at play so i can better understand what i just did.

    Posted: 25 Feb 2018 08:09 PM PST

Hello everyone! Long post follows so bear with me: Will write it exactly as i put in on my "Records" journal which i wrote as this thing unfolded.

MYB-ETH Sudden drop by 30% without any news. Lost opportunity. Price was brought down by 30% in an one-hour timespan. Possibly a person just dumped his bag. 4 orders for a little less than 200 MYB total, in the "Selling" list, possibly managed by a bot, were scaling down by 0.00001 ETH per second while the "Buying" list remained stable until a buyer was found. On the sale log (Time & Sales) mini sales of 0.02 MYB appeared in succession with the purpose to push down other orders from normal sales and with the effect of closing a little the gap between "Buying" and "Selling". From this point on, im starting to see a pattern Later I found an opportunity to buy an amount of MYB for 0.00555 ETH. Using the same technique i observed just minutes ago, mini sales of 0.02 MYB, i was able to push the price from 0.00555 to 0.005927 where i sold for almost 7% profit! Rinsed and repeated once more for another 3%, at which point someone else stepped in, closed the gap some more so i decided to take profits and call it a night! During that time, i am certain that at least one more live person was taking advantage of the same drop but without the mini-sales, who was competing me but i somehow outplayed or he simply was greedier than me and i snatched my profits first. Now my question is: What just happened? I know what i saw on my screen and it turned out well but certainly there are several factors that led up to this, which im missing. If anyone makes sense out of it, i'd be grateful to listen to what you have to say! Thanks!

A social network for crypto fans, with prized contests for highest-return portfolios, and other unique features

    Posted: 25 Feb 2018 09:31 PM PST

    Hello Cryptocurrency Market readers,

In the past few months, I've been working on a website, called Popcoyn (https://www.popcoyn.com), which is a social network for cryptocurrency enthusiasts. As a big fan of crypto, I incorporated all things I thought were missing from other websites into this.

Here are some features of the website:

    • I created (and will maintain) a few indexes (or indicators) for the cryptocurrency market. For example, CryptoCap100, sum of the market cap of the top 100 cryptocurrencies, is the crypto equivalent of S&P500 in the stock market. Similarly, Crypto Essentials Average is the average price of 12 prominent coins, and is the crypto equivalent of Dow Jones. There's also Bitcoin Dominance index. You can check the list of other indexes (along with coins and tokens) here: https://www.popcoyn.com/coins-and-indexes.php

    • On Popcoyn, you can create a portfolio. That is not new. Many other apps offer that. But we allow you to share your portfolio with others, follow other users' portfolio, and see how these portfolios evolve compared to each other in easy-to-read graphs.

    • We know a lot of people don't like to make it known how much they've invested in crypto. To meet this concern, when we show your portfolio to other users, we scale the amount of the coins in the portfolio so that your portfolio has a total value of $100K. This way others can see the proportion of different coins in your portfolio, but will not know how much money you actually invested in crypto. For example, see how my portfolio looks like.

    • When you change your portfolio, we keep a record of the older versions so you can compare the performance of different versions over time.

    • We have weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual contests to see whose portfolio gains the highest returns. https://www.popcoyn.com/contests.php You will be automatically enrolled in all contests once you make a portfolio. The winners win prizes, which are in Dogecoin. Currently, I'm using my own cryptos to fund the contest prizes but I hope over time donations will help me have bigger prizes for the contests. You can find users who consistently win contests and explore their portfolios to see what they're doing right.

    • Also you receive a little bonus (10 dogecoin) when a new user joins Popcoyn with your referral.

    • When looking at a coin page, in addition to usual info, you get portfolio insights: like what percent of users have that particular coin in their portfolio, or what other coins such users have in their portfolio. See this for example: https://www.popcoyn.com/view-info.php?id=ETH

    • You can sort the coins based on a variety of factors such as market cap, volume, change in price, change in volume, circulating/total/max supply.

    • The website provides a comfy platform to have conversations about investment strategies, coins, indexes, or contests.

I really hope that you will use and enjoy the website. Let me know what you think. (I'm sending this on some other reddit pages as well. Sorry if you see it several times.)

Coin comparison: VEChain Thor (VEN / VET) vs WaltonChain (WTC)

    Posted: 25 Feb 2018 10:43 AM PST

I've been spending a lot of time reading about emerging utility tokens, and also finding a bit of a shortage of deep-dive, objective and balanced reviews on coins. To help me sift through all the information I started writing up my research as long-form reviews, and then decided to publish them on Medium to see if they helped anyone else cut through the noise. This one compares and contrasts the two leading blockchain logistics projects, WaltonChain and VEChain (soon to be VEChain Thor). Let me know what you guys think, if it's helpful to you in your due diligence and what kind of topics you'd be interested in reading about in this format. Thanks!

Dbrain new project working with AI and Blockchain

    Posted: 25 Feb 2018 09:47 AM PST

Dbrain is the last frontier in artificial intelligence (AI) applied to blockchain technology saga. It is a platform to build AI Apps. Dbrain project platform consists of data collecting that allows the machine to learn. This step is very expensive in common world, so Dbrain offers to its users the possibility to earn tokens in change of data collecting. To best understand how it works, the web page allows users (called also labelers into whitepaper) to enter in contact with a Telegram Bot and first beta web platform in which are loaded about 250 tasks. Consequently, the machine once recorded all answers given by users participating will be able to recognize an image based on data collected. Once database created is possible move on App creation and finally, build a solid business. On Dbrain webpage, it stands out how team praise clients and partners like Microsoft, Nvidia, Aws Activate, Thngs, Proskater and Kupivip. Dropil Ico review - evolute trading platform

    Posted: 25 Feb 2018 02:27 PM PST

I liked Enigma because offers intelligent trading protocol to use for trading strategies. It was innovative but very low friendly. Its use, even if monthly updated, is for expert users only. After signing up to Dropil platform and reading ICO whitepaper I was completely fascinated and I forgot Enigma platform! Dropil, as I use to define, is a "full optional" trading platform that every traders should know and use. Why? • In DEX tab, you can access to a system that trades for you following a strategy that user can select in settings window, modeling it also on risk base. The system will set buy and sell according its strategy and on more exchanges and cryptocurrencies simultaneously; • Arthur tab works for arbitrage allows traders to act directly on platform without leaving it. The Premium account allows you to import exchanges API and works on them directly from Dropil platform. It is possible active Alarm and SMS alerts. So, why every investors should buy Dropil tokens? Dropil Dex system uses tokens for investment and storage. Tokens are necessary to use platform functions. More users will use Dropil platform more will increase token value. Dropil is still in ICO. Here the web page: dropil.com

What can I do if I speculate that BTC's price will go down?

    Posted: 25 Feb 2018 03:44 PM PST

I have majority of my money in BTC. I got some altcoin trading experience (when it goes up), and now I want to learn what to do, if I "know" that BTC price will go down. How can I secure my money? I saw Tether is one of the solutions, but I also some a lot of bad reviews about it, not sure if I believe them or not (considering the price of USDT). I don't want to trade BTC for fiat, because I have account on coinbase and the fees are too high there.
