Are people too stupid for bitcoin? Posted: 23 Feb 2018 03:55 PM PST So I just got a ledger nano S and was reading about all the ways they can intercept your crypto. It had me thinking of everything that goes into owning crypto and how many intricate ways you can be scammed out of your coins, even with a hardware wallet. Most people can't even take care of their belongings. We have car and home insurance, if we forget our pin or lose our bank card we can go to the bank to get another one. People will always turn to authority when they get taken for a ride, and I'm a little concerned our society might not want to move back into a society where your assets are entirely your responsibility. I think a lot of people will lose their private keys and they will be absolutely screwed. How many bitcoin have been lost from such silliness? Thoughts? [link] [comments]

Posted: 23 Feb 2018 02:45 PM PST The lightning network is growing and people don't know how to spend their coins using lightning. Therefore I made a simple HTML website hosted on GitHub pages that lists the stores that I know. The repository is: https://github.com/lightningnetworkstores/lightningnetworkstores.github.io The following websites forward to www.lightningnetworkstores.github.io: www.lightningnetworkstores.com Contributions are welcome, I will even give pull/merge permissions to who proves to be trustworthy or forward the registered domains to your forked website if its open source and well maintained. PS: I am an 8-year-old dyslexic with savant syndrome. EDIT: wording [link] [comments]

I just bought my first piece of bitcoin! Posted: 23 Feb 2018 02:05 PM PST I've been lurking around the cryptocurrency subreddits for almost a year now (mainly r/Bitcoin), trying to get a grasp of what the phenomenon really is about. I got introduced to bitcoin in 2014 and even have a wallet from that time, but nothing was in it since I never cared to continue then. But today I decided I've been lurking enough posts, watching enough YouTube videos and reading enough papers about cryptocurrency that I wanted to participate! In the first 10 minutes after the transaction I was in a mixed state of "I've never gonna see that money again" and "oh the price went up I'm gonna get rich!" But it soon came down to some sort of chaotic calm, an epiphany where I suddenly understood the meaning of HODL. [link] [comments]
