PSA: multiple full node client implementation is a unique selling point of Bitcoin Cash.

    Posted: 21 Feb 2018 12:23 AM PST

We need to talk about disagreements between the BCH development teams, not because it is FUD or a bad thing. Because it needs to be discussed. AFAIK multiple full node client implementation is a unique selling point of Bitcoin Cash.

No other cryptocurrency (or fork thereof) has 4 different implementations/development teams. We talk about the core devs, we talk about the litecoin devs or the nano devs as one team. We don't talk about the BCH dev team, which is how bitcoin is meant to be.

It also means that we are in completely new territory with regards to how a planned/non-emergency hard fork will work. It will be fascinating to see when and if a miner includes a transaction with op_group in a block and whether this will cause a chain split.

    DL;DR: disagreements are good

    I've been scammed!

    Posted: 21 Feb 2018 05:59 AM PST

I feel really stupid... I've been scammed. I read something about the new ICO for Telegram and then I saw the website: ico-telegram.com

And offcourse, in my enthouiastic mood, I transferred money to a bitcoin address... :-( Almost directly after I transferred the money, I knew I was scammed, because the domains is one of namecheap.com. That should stop me, but I was just not reading good and I was too quick with my emotions.

Why am I posting this? So that you all don't make this stupid mistake like I did. Just read a website carefully before transferring money.

This "lesson" costs me around 100 euro. It was an expensive lesson, but I learned from it....

A stable coin peg for bch!

    Posted: 20 Feb 2018 08:37 PM PST

I would love bch to have a system like the Maker/Dai. Possibly with the colored coin project or something better. Whether we like it or not we still need a stable coin until we no longer have the need for one. https://youtu.be/lIicscCQ6YY

Weird issue Electron (transaction rejectd 64:dust) - Only went through after I used higher fees

    Posted: 20 Feb 2018 05:06 PM PST

Ok, so I wanted to transfer some funds from Electron to my Exodus wallet but always got the "transaction rejected 64:dust" error. Apparently this error should happen when the amount is too low to be recognised by the network which is weird as the amount was about 0.19 BCH and I tried "normal" BCH fees from 1 to 5 sat/byte - And 1 sat/byte should have been more than sufficient after all). At first I tried updating Electron and then changing servers to no avail.

After I updated Electron to 3.1.2 the transaction seemed to work but nothing showed up on Exodus nor blockchair. In Electron the transaction just stayed at unconfirmed until I restarted the program and the tx completely disappeared from the history (funds still there as if nothing happened).

Of course now the error happened again. I tried changing servers but after 10+ different servers I gave up on this and slowly increased fees. And what do you know, after I had increased to 8 sat/byte it suddenly worked. I tried to send this transaction at least 30 times using different servers with 1-5 sat/byte fee but always got the error mentioned above. Did Electron consider the normal BCH fees of 1 sat/byte as a dust amount? This is some really weird issue, I just used the fee slider of the program itself after all.
