    Brad Garlinghouse at BlockChain Connect

    Posted: 25 Jan 2018 03:15 PM PST

With Brad listed as one of the keynote speakers at tomorrow's Blockchain Connect conference in San Fransisco, it would be interesting to gage opinions on the possibility of some kind of announcement or news.

He'll no doubt mention the recent partnerships and bank trials happening in different parts of the world. He'll explain in detail how Ripple can save the banking and money transfer industry billions in fees. It's likely that he'll follow a similar format to the type of comments he made in his television interviews earlier this month.

With such an acclaimed list of other speakers and with the crypto world and media listening intently, I feel that this is the platform for an announcement on something new and fresh in the world of Ripple.

If anyone here is attending the event, please keep us all updated.

Former Ripple Exec Invests $57.5 Million in Digital Money Platform Uphold

Looking for someone with in depth knowledge of what Ripple can possibly offer my company.

    Posted: 25 Jan 2018 06:57 AM PST

I work for a payments company based out of the US, and although we have a huge client base and remit several million dollars a day, nothing is cross borders. So my question is, is there something that Ripple can offer as a company, that could help expedite that process? I'm mostly only familiar with XRP, and not so much on their other products. We currently use our own remittance service to settle payments with all major CC's, and they are usually all done during night time hours. I know the process currently takes longer than it should and can bog down our servers in the process, as well as we are coming up on another issue of running out of payment process ID's because someone years back didn't account for growth and set the ID's to run out at 100 billion. On top of that, our CEO recently visited and I asked if we would be looking into implementing blockchain technologies in the future, and he did say that it is something they plan to look into. So from my standpoint, I'd like to get something concrete in front of my management team so that it can be passed along and would love for that to be Ripple. Any info is appreciated.

    Price Increase

    Posted: 25 Jan 2018 08:24 PM PST

    Hi,

I'm sure this has been asked many times before but just so I can get my own clarification, there has been a lot of fantastic news regarding Ripple - XRP and the plans the business has instore, plus every week partnerships are being revealed for use with XRP. My question is, why are these announcements not moving the price upwards? Some days the price may move up 10c which is great, but the price slowly drops back down over the following days.

What are the incentives for third parties to becoming individual validator nodes? What incentives do third parties have by becoming Liquidity Providers? [Need both high level and ELI5 answers]

    Posted: 25 Jan 2018 04:09 PM PST

So, the consensus ledger is great. I (sort-of) get how it works. I (also sort-of) get that transaction are verified or "validated" by individual parties called "validator nodes".

From what I've been reading validator node's incentives for upholding the network is more-so altruistic, as well as self-sustaining in terms of keeping their efficiencies?

We know that using xRapid, and therefore using XRP the benefits for banks and other FI's is:

    • reduced transaction fees
    • faster transaction speeds (near instant)
    • freeing up of capital (by eliminating nostro/vostro accounts)
    • validated/verified transactions (by consensus ledger)

So, it seems circular to me, but if were to sum it up: the incentive to uphold the network is to maintain and experience the benefits listed above.

    Am correct in this logic?

Now I am also having trouble fully understanding the incentive to become a liquidity provider. From what I understand this is how xRapid works:

    1) Bank A buys ripple on open market. 2) Bank A transfer ripple on open market and sells to liquidity provider at spot 3) Liquidity provider then converts xrp into foreign currency and transfers to Bank B

What incentive does the LP have for taking on the risk of holding all the XRP?

Am I misunderstanding how xRapid works?

Can someone please explain to me, step by step, where I am wrong, where I am right, and perhaps point me to some sources too so I can read it for myself later on?

    Thoughts on Tether?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2018 08:10 PM PST

So there's this whole Tether fiasco about them having no audits at all and having printed 2.25 billion USDTets and a lot of people are saying they don't really have it. Plus starting next week US Citizens can no longer do business with them, as in they won't be able to redeem their tokens, which nobody was able to do anyway for the past few months. I really hope this doesn't turn into a disaster. Maybe XRP will come out on top.
