Posted: 04 Jan 2018 07:00 AM PST According to the stats page, the last block has been mined 14h ago. Does anyone have insight on whats happening? [link] [comments]
The Good (1.238.000tx/day), The Bad (32,8% Uncle Rate, The Ugly (still no scaling solution) Posted: 03 Jan 2018 10:13 PM PST The actual bottleneck is the I/O pressure on the miners hard disks (HDD or SSD). It takes to much time to create a new 8 million gas block because of the evm database handling. This particular bottleneck probably could be addressed with a better DB or the introduction of some kind of stateless client (eip648). But.... we have to be prepared to face a long very high fee period with a record uncle rate numbers. [link] [comments]
Blockchain will allow for a true, open democracy to exist. Posted: 04 Jan 2018 01:36 AM PST Blockchain will allow for a true, open democracy to exist. It is a technology that allows for the creation of a new digital government that is as trustworthy as the lack of trust between strangers and even enemies. For as long as there is distrust, blockchain will keep growing. [link] [comments]

Land registries on a blockchain Posted: 04 Jan 2018 03:27 PM PST Sorry if this is not ethereum specific, but after some research this seems to be the most educated community, so I may as well ask here. My home country, Colombia, has had huge problems with land registries. There are 7 million people who have been forcibly removed from their homes, and even though things have gotten much better lately, and the government is trying to return the land to the original owners, there are huge problems with the records. A lot of times the ownership records have been lost, destroyed or tampered with, making it impossible to corroborate ownership. Even though the current government is decent in this sense, nothing stops a future government or a single actor tampering with the records and transferring possession to themselves. Would the decentralized and unalterable nature of blockchain be a good fit for this kind of registry? Would it be particularly expensive to run such a system? Sorry if it is a dumb question, I am a blockchain newbie, but this seems to be a real world application of blockchain technology with huge benefits, if I am understanding this correctly. Is there a way to check current transaction speeds on ETH network? Posted: 04 Jan 2018 03:14 PM PST Such as average time of transfer between exchanges? Sent something 25 min ago. I double checked proper ETH address and all that. Never taken this long for me before. Maybe the network is super slow due to heavy volume? [link] [comments]
Help! Transaction stuck for nearly 1 hour now. Posted: 04 Jan 2018 02:14 PM PST I wanted to buy some KIN at etherdelta, set the gas price to 21 gwei but it is sill pending :( what can I do to fix this? https://etherscan.io/tx/0x18984e7e5aba1fd679dcc69d3d11d2008a88257d641a828ba87f86395f36c5a0 [link] [comments]
Do we really need to be this toxic? Posted: 04 Jan 2018 05:48 PM PST How about offering to help him out using some amazing technology like Ethereum? Instead we upvote all this negativity when the guy is clearly expressing interest in decentralized technology. What would the response be if he announced FB to use Ethereum and the price shot up to $5k/eth? I'm pretty sure the "Fuck facebook" comments wouldn't be as close to the top. [link] [comments]
accidentally sent ETH to a BTC address, is it gone? Posted: 04 Jan 2018 04:26 AM PST I just transferred about 0.07 ETH (GDAX) to a BTC address (Binance). Will the transaction fail? Does anyone have experience with this? [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Jan 2018 10:12 PM PST UPDATE It appears that people are using "freewallet" which transfers users funds in the background to a cold storage pooled address. I am assuming that they have their funds in their freewallet app shown as a balance but when viewing their freewallet receiving address they see nothing and hence think their funds have been stolen. People are quite rightly freaking out. This needs to be made crystal clear by the freewallet people. On a serious note you should not be using a third party software that does not give you control over your addresses by way of a private key or seed for anything you can't afford to loose, period! Save these apps for pocket money, coffee and beer and what have you. $50 tops.. Consider a Trezor or similar hardware wallet for serious funds. Who knows what the freewallet people are doing with your money... If the wallet was run by any of the big banksters you know they would be buying dips and selling highs on pumped alt coins.. That's what freewallet is essentially, a centralized bank. Lots of people reporting their ETH being transferred to 0x7eD1E469fCb3EE19C0366D829e291451bE638E59 without their permission check out the comments https://www.etherchain.org/account/7ed1e469fcb3ee19c0366d829e291451be638e59#comments And the frequency of the transactions https://www.etherchain.org/account/7ed1e469fcb3ee19c0366d829e291451be638e59 I know of one victim who claims to have lost funds from a hardware wallet (which is as good as impossible so it implies that MEW is leaking data). This is mildly worrying to say the least. [link] [comments]
Idea - Unique identifier to avoid sending transactions to wrong/bad addresses Posted: 04 Jan 2018 09:35 AM PST I wanted some feedback on this idea. Problem: Sending Ethereum to exchanges/other addresses has a single point of failure (if I paste the wrong address my ETH is essentially gone). Solution: Have the receiving address generate a unique code to "prepare" itself for an incoming transaction. Example: I want to send my ETH to Bittrex. For this 1 instance, Bittrex would provide a receiving address AND a 6-digit code (ABC123). When I send my Ethereum, I provide the address and 6-digit code. If the 6-digit code I provided is not met with a matching 6-digit code, the ETH I sent is returned to my account. You could also send ETH without the 6-digit code and transactions would behave as they do now. I feel this code strategy adds another layer of confidence (especially when sending large amounts of ETH). Thoughts on this? [link] [comments]
Issues transferring ether from my wallet to binance. Posted: 04 Jan 2018 02:27 PM PST Did a test transfer to make sure everything was alright, and it was successful yesterday. So, I tried today to send the rest and it keeps showing up as pending on etherscan but then dropping off and not moving. Anyone else experienced this? I followed the exact same steps as my first test move. Thanks. [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Jan 2018 01:58 PM PST Suggestions are welcome. I have like $4,000 in various tokens and ether floating around in the unconfirmed pool right now, am I fucked? [link] [comments]

New here. My transfer isn't showing up. Hope this is the right place for this. Posted: 04 Jan 2018 01:19 PM PST I withdrew some ETH from GDAX to my Coinomi ETH receive address about 6 hours ago and I don't see any sign of it all. I've never messed with ETH before so I guess I'm asking if this is normal or if I should be worried / how long should I expect before it shows up at all? Thanks in advance. If this isn't the right place for this question I'd definitely appreciate being pointed in the right direction. [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Jan 2018 08:16 PM PST Hi all, am using the ledger to store my ETH but i am really annoyed i can't generate a second address. does anyone have a good simple offline wallet that i can use? would it simply be the wallet from: https://ethereum.org/ [link] [comments]
Do smaller transactions take longer to process? Posted: 04 Jan 2018 08:10 PM PST Sorry if this is an obvious question, I needed to move a small amount of ethereum to use as gas and it's taking a lot longer than normal. [link] [comments]
It's been over 30 minutes, what's happening? Posted: 04 Jan 2018 07:50 PM PST Initially, was trying to move some ethers from coinomi to binance. Didn't go through. Woke up this morning to see one of those transactions (cus I had to resend multiple times as nothing seems to happen after tapping the send button) finally sent 30mins back. Checked on etherscan and it shows a pending transaction awaiting confirmation. What do I do? It never took this long to confirm my ethers. [link] [comments] |
