Why monthly escrow is... A bullish mecanism.

    Posted: 25 Dec 2017 11:00 AM PST

The 1 billion of this month are already in escrow with their 55 billion brothers because no institutional buyer purchased in december. Next month if there's less than 1 billion going into escrow it means a big institutional buy has been done :) and I tell you if there's 500 million xrp missing next months it means a big player is coming up. Can't get any more bullish.

This is to some extend just like EOS daily ico but monthly. Ripple is holding an ico for institutional buyers every month. And you just have to look at the escrow transaction of the month to know if a big partnership is in the tubes or not for the few next months.

In my opinion the monthly escrow monitoring will be the most bullish indicator we will have for xrp in 2018.

    Stay fresh fellow zerpers.

What makes Ripple better than Stellar?

    Posted: 25 Dec 2017 01:15 PM PST

    Hello world.

I am hodling both, Stellar as well as Ripple. I always seperated both, and thus justified keeping both - ok, it also was a cheap excuse for not deciding upon one ;-) -, by this scheme:

Stellar: Wants to make it available, easy, cheap and fast for each and everyone on the world to have access to banking-like transactions. The focus for [old: ripple] [fixed] Stellar was more or less on the 2nd world and developing countries / BRIX states etc. Ripple: This crypto, on the other hand, wants to revolutionize the whole banking sector, with a focus un the 1st world / industrialized countries. The latest banking tests in the Pacific somewhat proved that.

Stellar doesn't make any progress for the last few weeks. I do know that short time charts aren't really a stable indicator for anything but maybe daytraders. However, I am curious why neither Ripple nor Stellar (which could probably replace eachother, technologically wise) makes smaller or bigger jumps. When I bought both cryptos I planned to hodl both, but then I came up with the question whether both cryptos can co-exist. In my opinion, both follow the nearly same concept. The one (Stellar) is somewhat more "humane" and ideologically progressive, whereas the other is simply a pure performance boost for the banking sector. Is this the only thing that splits both cryptos? I'd be glad to hear some thougths on this. Unfortunately I ain't got nobody to talk this over with.

edit: changed Ripple with Stellar in the "Stellar: " section + spelling

[US Only] Taxes to trigger a huge slump in crypto world?

    Posted: 25 Dec 2017 03:52 PM PST

With the new tax bill having passed, "like-kind" trades will no longer be exempt from taxes. When looking through this subreddit most people buy their XRP with other coins and not with FIAT. If people are not able to do this without incurring a short term capital gains tax right off the bat, will it drive the trading market down significantly?

Best way to buy Ripple Inc. stock

    Posted: 25 Dec 2017 10:56 AM PST

Shares of Ripple Inc. are available on Sharespost and Equityzen at this time. Shares of Ripple are not the same as XRP. You must be an accredited investor to buy shares of Ripple Inc. Due to the fact that there are less people who qualify as accredited investors, the shares are trading at a deep discount to the implied price of XRP, especially after the recent run up in price to $1/XRP. If you believe in the long term vision of XRP, the shares of Ripple Inc are a better deal. https://equityzen.com/ https://sharespost.com/

    Understanding Value

    Posted: 25 Dec 2017 06:58 PM PST

    Hi,

I, along with what seems to be many other folks, am fairly new to the scene, having begun researching over the last month or two and finally decided to go in on XRP with a fairly small stake.

However, one thing I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around is what exactly is determining the value of XRP (and other cryptos in general); both in the XRP to USD sense as well as other rates like XRP/ETH and XRP/BTC. My initial understanding was that it's just a matter of what people are willing to pay, that is, there are sell orders out there for, say, $1.15 for one XRP, and if that order is fulfilled then the "price" of XRP is set at $1.15. Similarly for buy orders. Is this thinking correct, and if so, where are these sell/buy orders being set?

Does it more or less work the same way for other rates, like XRP/BTC and XRP/ETH? I'd love to get a deeper understanding of exactly how these prices and rates are being set and who/what is deciding that when I go on Binance and want to exchange my ETH for XRP that I should be paying .00133 ETH per XRP.

Thanks for any insight anyone can provide!

What Is Ripple? Cryptocurrency Passes Dollar Milestone

    Posted: 25 Dec 2017 09:26 PM PST

Noob here. Bought a ledger nano and looking to buy some crypto including ripple as top priority, questions listed.

    Posted: 25 Dec 2017 07:17 PM PST

•With coinbase getting a lot of heat, I'd prefer to stay away. Whats a better alternative?

•How do I buy and store ripple? Do you have to use Bitcoin to buy altcoins?

•What are your personal thoughts on ripple and the advantages with it? I've watched quite a lot of videos on you tube and read many articles, but still quite interested in your opinion.

    Thanks!

Gatehub reserve question and my strategy to start (Noob) (help)

    Posted: 25 Dec 2017 08:03 PM PST

    Hello,

New to XRP and a bit stuck on Kraken Vs Gatehub but I'm leaning towards gatehub because they have dedicated wallets.

    My plan:

Buy BTC on coinbase > trade to GDAX > trade to > binance > exchange to XRP > send ripple to gatehub wallet.

My main question is will the 20 reserve be permanent, let's say ripple does kick off, will I never be able to access my reserve?

Also will I be charged 5 XRP for trustlines and gateways (although I'm not certain what they are)

Or should I move to another place to store my XRP, can't afford nano ledger ATM. Just want at least 40 ripple before new year!

    P.s

I tried to create an account on rippex but it asks for zip code but I'm from England so can't provide one to verify account... postcodes are different

    Thanks!

    XRP wallet recommendation

    Posted: 25 Dec 2017 01:25 PM PST

Recently purchased a number of XRP through Binance, I've been hearing that it's rather not safe keeping tokens/coins on trading platforms as we don't want another situation like Mt. Gox or a hacker attack.

I haven't heard any concrete recommendations on where to store XRP. How do most of you store your them?

    Ripple Desktop Wallet Help

    Posted: 25 Dec 2017 07:32 PM PST

I recently downloaded the ripple desktop wallet from : https://rippex.net/carteira-ripple.php#/

And I made a wallet with an address and I funded it. The issues is, that I cannot seem to log back into the wallet. I'm using the correct wallet file and password but nothing seems to be working. I can also login using my ripple address except it's only in "read only" mode. Thanks

    Transferring to cold storage.

    Posted: 25 Dec 2017 05:38 PM PST

I just got a Nano Ledger S for christmas and I am moving my crypto into cold storage and I notice there seems to be no way to transfer my final 20 XRP to my safer device. I no longer have any use for my mobile wallet and I wanted to just get whatever I had on there onto my Ledger but it seems impossible.

Am I understanding this right? So essentially XRP wallets force you to pay $20 you can never touch again and it'll be another $20 if you ever want to start a new one? Seems kinda flawed to me.

    Does GDAX require verification?

    Posted: 25 Dec 2017 05:37 PM PST

Hi guys, just a real quick question.

I have been into xrp for a few weeks now but I am planning to get another sum into it and avoid the fees.

Is it required to be verified with GDAX simply to transfer from

    Coinbase ----> GDAX ----> Binance?

I don't want another unexpected hurdle and will pay the 5-10 dollar fee if I have to.

Relatively new to Ripple. Some questions about target ID

    Posted: 25 Dec 2017 06:57 PM PST

I recently invested in Ripple because of its speed. I do notice that it has a rather high frequency of issues when it comes to transfers not arriving on exchanges compared to other currencies. (4 times this week)
I was under the impression that with Ripple the target ID was what directed the funds to the right wallet. I've had this across multiple platforms, luckily once support realizes it's not just a forgotten targetID it is fixed pretty fast, but you still have to keep track and spend time talking to support.
Could someone ELI5 how exactly the transaction knows in what wallet it needs to arrive, and how this seems to be rather inconsistent with exchanges?

Price alerts will save you looking at the XRP price 1000 times a day

    Posted: 25 Dec 2017 10:32 AM PST

Just set price alerts and forget looking at the XRP price. I set two alerts : 1) 10% below current price. 2) 10% above current price. If no alerts go off, the price is meandering in a 10%+ channel, and nothing is happening. If my phone is quiet and no alerts, I officially don't give a shit. End of. Do your research to find a price alert service.

I am working on the next level: just not giving a shit no matter what, quitting the whole scene, then sell when it gets to $10+ when someone happens to mention the XRP price to me.
