Posted: 04 Dec 2017 06:13 AM PST Hello there! Can anyone confirm if I can use a PCIE 1x 6 pin to 2x 6 pin to power my risers? I have had mixed comments about it and that if I split it, I would be only getting 37.5W each instead of full 75W. Should I be worried? Here is the exact same video of my configuration: https://youtu.be/zHv6meddj4o?t=5m52s [link] [comments]
Powered PCIe 16 to 16 riser cable? Posted: 03 Dec 2017 11:25 PM PST I have an ancient desktop with 2 PCIe slots, one is 16x and the other is 1x. Of course, they are side by side, so a newer GPU covers both. This is a general use computer for the family but I want to mine with it when it is idle. I am considering a 30cm powered riser cable x16 to x16 from ModDIY out of Hong Kong. (Yes, 30 cm is necessary on this case.) Anyone dealt with these folks or have a better choice for a ribbon cable riser for my primary graphics card? [link] [comments]
MSI RX 570 Armor - Guidance Please! Posted: 04 Dec 2017 06:11 AM PST Hey all I have an opportunity to pick up to MSI RX 570 armours at a really good price however as I understand it in order to get any decent return I need to run a custom bios mod on these cards. Does anybody know or can anyone link me to where I might find the correct mod bios for these graphics cards and also if you happen to have any instructions on how to properly flash and get these things running close to 30 MHS that would be great. Also does anybody have any experience with these particular cards how do they perform etcetera? [link] [comments]
Apply new thermal compound to your second hand GPU! Posted: 04 Dec 2017 06:09 AM PST I've bought a used MSI gtx 970 gaming to mine with it, I had no issues, the card ran stabel under 100% load at 66% fan speed with 75°C. Today, I opend the card, removed all dust and swapped the thermal compund. The card runs now under 100% load with 60% fan and 71°C peak temperatur... [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Dec 2017 05:28 AM PST I am looking for someone who is mining aeon with rx580s. What is your hash rate per gpu. What to mine claims around 900 and ive seen estimates as high as 2000. Working on getting out to work, just Curious if it's more profitable than eth. [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Dec 2017 04:03 AM PST Eventually i would like work up to a full rig with this board. What would be the best option for processor, power, ram etc to support 18gpus? Ill be starting with an Asus Radeon Rx 580 cards since I purchased one I have no use for. Ill do the first 8 with those. [link] [comments]

SIX (6) 1080Ti mining rig, Psu HELP needed Posted: 04 Dec 2017 02:04 AM PST Hello I have a 6x1080Ti rig that needs UPS, I'm not sure what combination to go for and how many watts are needed. FIRST option is to use 2x 1000W platinum PSU SECOND option is to go for 1200w Platinum + 1000w platinum Both options will either be an EVGA or CORSAIR, depending on availability and price. The other parts of the rig are 1x Gigabyte H110-D3A BTC Edition Intel H110 Mainboard 1x intel celeron skylake processor ram, pci-extenders and ssd ... I'm a bit confused because i think the first options is a bit under powered, and the second should be capable of supporting the rig, but i saw on youtube some builds that use 2400w or 2600w of power... Help a miner out :) EDIT: Would a 1600 titanium t2 be better in overall performance than two 1000W platinum evga /corsairs ? [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Dec 2017 10:04 PM PST What is the least expensive way to run a single GPU for mining? I want to find very inexpensive and energy efficent hardware. I do not need anything fancy, just a simple computer with one gpu attatched. Was hoping for something like a rasberry pi with a pcie port. Any ideas would be greatly appriciated. Posted: 03 Dec 2017 04:56 PM PST Hi guys, Am looking to run my 6 x1080 rig. will use roughly 1000-1100w an hour. I have worked that out at 26.4kwh to run for 24 hours. I am looking at getting solar panels put in, but have no idea how to work out what KW size panels id need to put in to run this rig for free. Anyone able to assist? [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Dec 2017 05:33 PM PST Trying to figure out what will be the most profitable with my setup. I always see advice about checking whattomine and picking the most profitable for right now. It can take a few days to a week in order for me to get payouts depending on the requirements of the pool just focusing on one coin. So for right now I use Nicehash. I understand that NiceHash has slightly higher fees with transferring money around, but I can mine whatever is profitable and get paid in the same currency. I also don't have to worry about getting trading minimums to go from one coin to ETH/BTC for long term holding. For right now I am planning on sticking with NiceHash simply because I am not able to hit the payout threshold in time while most coins are "the best paying." Is this common for people just starting out with small setups? Is it better to focus on ONE of the common top 5 on whattomine instead of bouncing every day or so? [link] [comments]

Questions about adding cards to an existing gaming rig to make it into a part-time miner Posted: 03 Dec 2017 04:59 PM PST Hey, I've been a PC gamer for forever now and maybe a month ago started mining ETH on my RX 470. I just got a new job and figured I'm not at home gaming all day, so why not put that idle card to work for a couple bucks a month. On Black Friday, I snagged a heck of a deal on a prebuilt with an RX 580, coincidentally the same exact model as my current 470 (MSI ARMOR). My plan was to sell, or part out my old PC on craigslist/ebay which I'm currently doing, but realizing I now have 2 decent mining cards and some fresh capital from my job, I'm seriously considering making this into a bit more of an operation. ATM I'm considering buying a new mobo to take both cards (current one is a mATX with only one PCI-E 16x slot), and also, possibly scooping up another pair of 470's or 570's to hook up to 1x slots and just run them outside of the case, next to the PC, for 4 cards total. My question is specifically regarding anything I should know before basically turning my personal gaming PC into a hybrid-miner:
And finally, on power supplies. My new PC came with a 450w EVGA, and the old one (which I still have) is an EVGA 600w. Just for giggles, I actually tried running the 470+580 together in the old PC mining on Claymore before I disassembled it, and it went haywire, obviously not able to handle the load. Might be because I was using an ancient CPU+mobo though. Regardless, should I just buy a new beefy PSU for the PC itself and the main 2 cards, and then hook up maybe the 450w externally for the other pair of cards? Is that overkill for 2 x 570's? Posted: 03 Dec 2017 08:37 PM PST I just spent the day switching out my two power supplies between my computers. Putting my evga 1300 into my mining computer. I finally found out that my other psu was causing the problems I last had with shutting my miner off (it's now doing this in my other rig). Anyways I now have a stable miner and I'm playing with afterburner settings. I seem to be getting stable results with my two 1070s in a closed case. Pushing a (core clock +115) (memory clock +875) with a power limit of 90% I have been seeing my temp stable at 65-70°C for the past hour or so. I pushed it hard at (+125 core) (+900 mem) and I started to get screen stutters and mining would stop. I feel like I am seeing pretty damn good performance out of these cards but I'm hoping I'm not pushing them too much. What would a good trial time be for my current settings, 24 hours of stability? Posted: 03 Dec 2017 08:44 AM PST 1 . getting around 33-34mhs with 0.08kwh is it profitable (just started mining) 2 . if i continue mining do i get another r9 390 or should i look for a 1070ti? [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Dec 2017 09:38 AM PST A curious thought came to my mind just now. We are constantly in a battle against thermals, acoustics and costs when we try to adventure into the world of mining. We are always worried about our GPU temps degrading our equipment's lifespan, or maybe noise coming from a couple (or tens and hundreds) of graphics cards running on high fan speed. At the expense of cost there is water cooling for graphics cards which definitely reduces thermals and noise dramatically, but perhaps at the expense of cost. However, with things like the NZXT Kraken G12 bracket along with closed loop CPU coolers, perhaps it isn't too bad a premium to pay. The G12 bracket costs $30, and you could fit in a Corsair H55 ($60) or H75 (under $70 on sale) for a complete water-cooling GPU setup under $100. Squeeze in a tube of thermal paste and memory heatsinks for a few more dollars, and you reach $100 average. Depending on the card, an extra $100 could be incredibly expensive or the difference between a stock FE card and an aftermarket card. No one in their right mind would smack on this system on a $150 GTX 1050Ti, that's a crazy 66% increase in ROI time. But if you consider that a GTX 1080TI FE already costs $699, with the cheapest aftermarket air-cooled cards at about $750, adding $100 doesn't sound too bad. It's just a 14% increase in ROI, or maybe 1 extra month at today's rates. EVGA sells a hybrid GTX 1080TI for $799, which is also a $100 increase from FE. It also means that there's no risk of voiding warranty trying to mod the GPU. With most of these using 120mm radiators and fans, it appears to compatible with many mining rig frames that offer fan installation holes near the GPUs anyway. So with this considered, if I am already planning on building a 6 GTX 1080 TI mining rig, would the extra 14%-15% cost be worth it considering significantly better GPU thermals leading to better lifespan, considerably lower noise levels, potentially more stable overclocks and a more interesting aesthetic look? I think the extra premium is of great value and worth doing if one can set aside the extra cash when already building a very high end mining rig. However, I think I may have overlooked some disadvantages of doing so, hence I'd like to ask you guys if you have any possible arguments against this. [link] [comments]
What's the Best way to Benchmark a GPU? Posted: 03 Dec 2017 01:18 PM PST I want to test my GPU at different power points to figure out the best Hashrate per Watt. What's the most accurate way to do this? Or has somebody done this already? [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Dec 2017 11:53 AM PST So iam about to build my first RIG, I wanted to use 1070's but there are pretty expensive so i wondered is it better to mine with one 1070 or two 1060's? What would earn you more money :D Thx in advance :D [link] [comments]

Multi coin mining on neoscrypt? Posted: 03 Dec 2017 11:27 AM PST Morning everyone hoping the community could help me with a question I have.....So I have a five GPU rig working on a particular popular coin, my main computer has a EVGA 1050ti installed in it so when I'm not working I tune it in to mine lesser known coins.....So yesterday I started to mine a neoscrypt coin VIVO in a pool on YIIMP.....I just logged in to check earnings and on the wallet page,to the right it says " last 50 earnings ...For my wallet address" and under that it states earnings from four different neoscrypt coins are being sent to my vivo address.... Was just wondering if there was any way I could actually collect those earnings, as I know they will not be recognized by the vivo wallet? [link] [comments] |
