Posted: 01 Dec 2017 05:29 AM PST Hi guys. I'm thinking of buying the GTX Zotac 1080 Mini GPU for mining, what are your experiences with it? Is it good enough, and what about cooling, I ask because it is smaller than the standard 1080. And one more thing, in my country the price between the standard Asus 1070 and the Zotac 1080 Mini is minimal, about $40, what are you suggesting, which one to buy? [link] [comments]
What exactly is a mining card? Posted: 30 Nov 2017 11:13 PM PST What is the difference between this card and a reg 560 besides it having no hdmi ports? Does it having no hdmi make it draw less power? Would it be worse at gaming than a regular 560? [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Dec 2017 07:52 AM PST Just wondering if anyone has had any luck with the splitters to plug 2-4 risers in a single PCI-E slot. I have a motherboard and some DDR3 RAM laying around, but the board only has 1 16x and 2 1x slots. I could pick up a CPU for ~$40 and 2 4x splitters with risers for ~$45/ea and have 9 slots available for ~$130, but have heard that splitting the PCI-E bus can be unreliable. Would I be better off just buying a different mobo? I'd prefer to reuse stuff that I already have on hand if it will save me some cash. [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Dec 2017 05:12 AM PST Hello, I just added 2 more GPUs to my former 7 GPU rig, for a total of 9 now. To my big surprise, MSI Afterburner doesn't allow overclocking of more than 8 GPUs. Before I destroy all the scripts I have made for Windows and move to linux, does anyone know other programs that allow OCing more than 8 GPUs? I will have 14 in this rig. I have already tried evga precision, but it is limited to 4 gpus... Thanks for your help [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Nov 2017 11:04 PM PST I'm running a few Vega 64's and I the only way to get them to preform is by toggling that HBCC button in Wattman each time something happens to the system then hitting apply - which takes forever across multiple cards. Wondering if there is a faster way that someone has gotten around this Wattman bug? Can I enable via drivers? [link] [comments]
How much energy would I actually use with a 12 card rig? Posted: 30 Nov 2017 10:00 PM PST I live at a college apartment where I pay a flat monthly rate and I don't pay energy bills. Do you think if I ran a 12 card rig they would notice something's up and kick me out? There are 9 buildings with 12 apartments each in each apartment. So total 108 apartments, which is 648 people in my complex. So would a 12 card rig be noticeable in energy increases? How much would the 12 card rig increase energy usage? Side note: I live in Idaho, these are the current rates https://www.electricitylocal.com/states/idaho/rexburg/ [link] [comments]
Is it to late to get into mining? Posted: 01 Dec 2017 01:38 AM PST 6 Months ago i was thinking about getting into mining. I read some forums and most people told me that it was to late. Same thing today, most people says its to late. But if i were to start 6 months ago i would have paid of the rig i was about to buy. And i believe if i buy it today i will still be able to pay it off in about 10 months. And if something happens i could still recover most of the cost by selling the 1080s i'm thinking about investing in. My theory is that if people wont go enough profit they will sell their GPUs and people that mines will start to gain money again. And new coins will always be created, i live in Sweden so the electrity is cheap. Im new to this and enlighs is not my native language [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Nov 2017 09:01 PM PST $10000 usd mining rig or maybe two $5k rigs? Suggestions? I have multiple 220volt and tons of room, maybe 2 rigs with 12 1070s? I have no experience with server psus are they difficult? or just use two evga 1200w? [link] [comments]
Help with optimal settings with Strix 1080 Ti OC for mining? Posted: 30 Nov 2017 08:17 PM PST Looking for an expert can assist me with optimal setting(s) for Strix 1080 Ti OC for mining/hashing. I'm unsure how to tweak GPU with best overclock/underclock & effeciency/hashrate ratios. Anyone kind enough to assist? [link] [comments]
What happened to half of my BTC balance? Posted: 30 Nov 2017 10:59 PM PST TL;DR Half my BTC vanished and came back. Is this just something weird that happens when dealing with cryptocurrency? I sort of assumed they weren't gone for good and, sure enough, they came back out of nowhere.Sorry if the title is a little click-baity... as I was typing this, the situation seems to have sorted itself out, but now I'm just curious what happened. First of all, my rig is just my gaming computer and I'm fooling around with NiceHashMiner as a novice.
So I boot up HashMiner trying to get my CPU to do some mining along with my GPU. It turns out it won't, at least not without some troubleshooting, so I turned off the cpu as a worker, shut down HashMiner and go play some video games. When I come back and open up HashMiner, my BTC balance is half what it was when I last saw it. I wasn't really worried because at this point I've only accrued almost a dollar. So after a few minutes I close out Hash, reopen it, after disabling the cpu miner again, and as I started typing this post, the rest of my BTC balance appears just like it should have. Any idea what happened? [link] [comments]

Dumb question - why does 8 pin power have 2 grounds? Posted: 30 Nov 2017 03:57 PM PST
Posted: 30 Nov 2017 09:44 AM PST I've been mining for 2 months now with 1080Ti. I get around 0,014 BTC/month with Nicehash which is pretty nice. I am looking to expand and I plan to buy a 1070 since my current setup will handle additional card and I can buy it for ~60% of the retail price. Is there a viable alternative to Nicehash where everything is automated as much as possible? Can I get better returns elsewhere? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Nov 2017 11:42 AM PST I have at my disposal some Dell Precision 7610's. They have 4 pcie slots, a 1300w psu, xeon processor. Has anyone tried mining with these machines? Would this be ok for a 4 card rig? Thank you for your time. [link] [comments]
Server PSU bracket/mount in rackmount server case Posted: 30 Nov 2017 11:40 AM PST Anyone know any good ways to mount a server PSU inside (or outside) one of those rackmount server cases? I saw this youtube video and was wondering if anyone has done something like this (particularly those with ATX+server PSU rigs built in rackmount server cases)? If so, what problems did you run into and how did you fix them? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Nov 2017 11:07 AM PST Hey there, I want to build my first mining rig in near future, I already pick some parts i want to use, I will use some 1070's. There are many 1070 out and I wanted to know wich one of these is "the best" for mining or is there no "real" difference. Just want to hear different opinions on different 1070's. I was also thinking about some 1060 6gbs Which one would you maniacs prefer? THX in advance :D [link] [comments] |
