building a new rig and have some questions about 1070 vs 1070ti. Posted: 03 Dec 2017 06:16 AM PST Hello GPUMINING! I have been mining with my gaming pc for a while now and want to build a mining rig. I am reading gpumining and nicehash subreddits to understand about what are the differences of gtx 1070 and gtx 1070ti's. As i understand it is about efficiency and getting a bit more haspower. However in my country their price difference is quite much so wondering if it will be profittable, ROI-wise, to go for 1070ti. Their prices are 667$ and 820$ respectively. and electricity price is 0.1$/kWh. 1- Would you even start mining? 2- Would you still go for 1070ti in this conditions? 3- Is there a performance and efficiency difference between brands? ASUS vs Gigabyte vs Galax is what i could buy at the market for a relatively cheap price. 4- Also what is with the nicehash profit calculator? it shows 1070s give better daily profit than 1070tis? Thank you [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Dec 2017 12:34 AM PST Hi Y'all, I'm currently using a corsair hx1200i power supply and am running 3 1070s on it but will soon have 3 more 1080tis which I don't have enough power supply 6+2 cables for. Ideally what I need is a male 6+2 to double male 6+2 cable that is compatible with a corsair hx1200i. Does anyone know of anything like this? [link] [comments]

GPU mining: 1080 ti vs 1070 ti. Posted: 02 Dec 2017 10:04 PM PST I am planning to get 3 GPUs, specifically for mining purpose but with the upcoming of 1070ti am confused now. I already have 1 1080 which is not performing so great at mining. In my country, price of 3×1070ti = 2×1080ti If we take nicehash for mining, which GPU is better taking power consumption & per day mining return into consideration. I've not been able to get any good info about 1070 ti hash rate for nicehash miner. Could anyone suggest on this? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
Best clock settings for Zotac 3GB 1060 Mini? Posted: 02 Dec 2017 09:17 PM PST I have a rig of 3 Zotac 3GB 1060 Mini cards I picked up on black friday for $189/each. I'm also mining on a different rig with 2x 1080ti cards but I don't know the best clocks for the 1060 cards. I'd like to get the best hash:wattage ratio. Power cost is $0.10/kWh [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Dec 2017 03:16 PM PST I realize there is little chance people will start using correct terms, and I also realize most regulars here know exactly which connector is "the molex connector"; the flat four pin connector, standard power connector for old school spindle hard drives... But the thing is, that isn't the molex connector. That is an AMP MATE-N-LOK connector, patented by AMP (today owned by TE Connectivity) and it took Molex 7 years to release a compatible connector. What is in fact, "the molex connector" is the other, standard power supply connectors, the 4, 6, 8, 24 pin ATX connectors, those are the real "Molex connectors", as they were pioneered and patented by Molex in the early 60's. Today, they are from the Molex Mini-Fit Jr. line of connectors. I just find it funny that the connector known around here simply as the "molex connector" is literally the ONLY one that was not designed and patented by Molex. Anyway, not important, carry on... Splitters that I purchased make the computer unable to start Posted: 02 Dec 2017 05:26 PM PST Hey there, so I have 4 570's and 2 480's, and my psu only has enough cables to hook up to 3 cards (6 6+2 pin connectors powering a single riser and a single card each) so I ordered some splitters online(after my previous ones turned out to be CPU splitters), and after hooking up the whole rig with the splitters for whatever reason the system refused to turn on. The pay would make a tiny click, my power monitor would read 65 watts for a fraction of a second and then lock at 0 watts. I disconnected all cards except one with a splitter and it still didn't work. I was scared I fried my psu or mobo, but upon plugging in a single card with no splitters again everything runs perfect. What gives? I've linked some photos of the splitters and cables, as well as my janky ass rig. Let me know if you need any more information. Cheers. [link] [comments]
Is temperature the only thing limiting overclocking? (AMD 7970) Posted: 02 Dec 2017 08:12 PM PST I recently began mining zcash with my AMD 7970 and experimenting with overclocking. I have yet to find an answer as to whether or not it's unsafe to max out my memclock, as it gives me a much higher hashrate. I upped my core clock to 1125, upped my mem clock to 1700, and made no changes to voltage, for a hashrate of about 350H/s. My cooling system has no problem keeping the gpu below 70 C at these settings. As far as I know, heat is the only risk when overclocking besides frying the thing with voltage changes. Is it safe for me to push the limits here? [link] [comments]

Please help. Single mom miner. 350+ ETH stolen. Posted: 02 Dec 2017 11:41 PM PST I know this is a long shot. First, let me say I thought I was doing everything I could to protect my Ethereum. I'm a single mom, a nurse, and trying to make it on my own. I researched crypto years ago and took a chance building a mining operation in my garage. Month of blood, sweat, tears, sleepless nights and doubt finally payed off. I couldnt believe I did it. Built computers, controlled the heat and they were up and running. (With some late night help from a couple tech-savy friends of course.) As the coins came in my dreams for financial security were finally a reality. College for my daughter, paying off my car, my college loan all the things that seemed so out of reach were happening there in my garage. And in a moment it was all gone. I do not know how this happened and I've come up with a variety of scenarios. I did not share my information, I double checked urls before entering info. I pulled all my ether off of any exchanges I had it on and thought I was safe using MyEtherWallet. I ordered the ledger blue, which was in production at the time (Aug 2017), and received it a couple of weeks ago (Nov 2017). When I went to transfer the coins onto the ledger wallet I was horrified to find all of my ether are gone. I'm devastated! I shut down the mining operation many month ago and I have no way to recover my losses. My dreams of being financially secure and providing for my daughter have been ripped out from under me. The strange thing about the situation is that they are still sitting on the address they were sent to. It appears to be a wallet and not an exchange address. They have not moved. Please if anyone can help me or knows anyone that could help me I will forever be grateful. I didn't want to resort to this but, donations are never expected but would be welcomed and appreciated immensely. Update: A few details I left out. I did have some Ether Classic on that same wallet that were untouched. No I did not click on any emails to access MEW. Another very odd detail is that from Aug 2017 until yesterday (12/1/2017) I had no transactions on the compromised wallet since the ETH was stolen (Aug 2017). I haven't had a mining deposit from Ethermine in a year (2016). All of a sudden, I had a random deposit yesterday from Ethermine and I have no idea where this came from. These details, coupled with the fact that the coins have not moved from the "hacker" wallet since Aug 2017 make this whole situation very puzzling. And no I did not create a new wallet and forget that I had done so. Edit: typo. 320+ ETH stolen not 350 but who's counting now right? [link] [comments]
OC GeForce GTX 1050 TI ssc card Posted: 02 Dec 2017 07:16 PM PST Hello all, I was wondering if someone could help me out understanding something. One of my co-workers gave me a 1050 TI card. I wanted to get into mining a while back .. He said I should start out with this for now, and to OC the card. after reading about OC a card I wanted to see if I did correct or did I over do it. I download GPU-Z to see what information it would give me on the card. I notice the default clock memory, and boost numbers are.
After playing around with MIS afterburner I made the changes below. I had to play around with them since the mining software would freeze or video card would flash on the screen.
I notice the numbers for the default changed a lot
Now is that the proper way of doing the OC ? Is it to much or am I going to burn out my card? Sorry I'm new to this OC and mining world . If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks, Ps down the road I plan on getting better cards. I just wanted to start out with something simple. [link] [comments]

Tweaking Sapphire RX 570/560 Nitro+ Posted: 02 Dec 2017 03:08 PM PST I have 4 Sapphire RX560's and 4 Sapphire RX570's all BIOS-modded with strap and OC VRAM @ 1950-2000 MHz. RX560 hashing @ 13.6 MH/s and RX570 @ 28-29 MH/s. All good there. Now to my problem. I can't undervoltage the cards that much I want. It can run core voltage @ 1050 mV stable, that's it, not lower. Memory voltage @ 850 mV. How to tweak it lower? I havn't touched the core clock, if I lower the clock then I can lower the voltage a little bit more, but hashrates drops alot too. Skip keyboard check when booting? Posted: 02 Dec 2017 12:09 PM PST Every time I reboot my miners, if there isn't a keyboard connected it stays on the motherboard splash screen until I connect one and press a key. Is there any way to fix that? I'm using H81 BTCs [link] [comments]
2x XFX RX 580 4gb ETH mining results (vs 1x MSI R9 290 4gb) Posted: 02 Dec 2017 11:20 AM PST So I decided to try my hand at mining. If you check my post history I was debating if it's better to invest in coins directly or to invest in mining hardware. I decided to do both. I bought 2x XFX Radeon RX 580 GTS XXX 4GB cards on newegg.com for ~$200 each. This seemed like a good price, and I was comfortable spending $400 for these because if mining doesn't work out I still have use for 2x graphics cards. With my old MSI R9 290 4gb I was getting around 29 mh/s with 170w power consumption. The temps weren't too hot (like mid 70's probably) but the fans were just too damn loud! With the 2x XFX RX 580 4gb cards, I'm currently getting around 56-56.5 mh/s with 180w power consumption. The temps are 62-64 degrees. The biggest difference however is the fans... they're super quiet compared to the R9 290. In fact, I don't even think I hear the gpu fans over my normal case fans. Now, a little about bios modding... I did not mess around with the R9 290 bios because at the time it was my only graphics card and I didn't want to screw it up. After getting the 2x RX 580s, I decided to mess around with their bios because out of the box they were only getting 18 mh/s each. This is what I did: 1) Used ATIwinflash to save the original bios on both the cards. Even though they're the exact same card and therefore should have the exact same bios, I went ahead and saved a copy of each bios for each card. (I also made copies of the original bios to edit into a modded version.) 2) Used Polaris Bios Editor 1.6.2 and loaded up the copies of the original bios to adjust the timings/straps for my memory. It said I have Hynix and Elpish? memory on my cards. Anyway, I clicked the "one click auto setting" button and it adjusted the card timings for me. I saved the bios file as my modded bios version. I did this again for my second RX 580. Now I had two modded bios files for each of my RX 580s. 3) Used ATIwinflash again but this time I loaded the modded bios files and "programmed" them onto each of the graphics cards. I then rebooted the computer for the changes to take effect. 4) After the reboot I opened up MSI Afterburner and adjusted my core clock to 1050mhz from 1366mhz. I've been reading everywhere that for mining ETH the core clock doesn't matter. I also adjusted the memory clock to 1950mhz (I forgot what it was originally). Currently Claymore Dual Miner (mining only ETH) is showing me GPU0 27.7-27.9 and GPU1 28.5 mh/s. Any advice or tips to increase my efficiency? Tl:dr - New to mining, bought two RX 580 to replace a loud R9 290, getting about the same hashrates (27-28 mh/s) but using a lot less power. R9 290 was 29 mh/s @ 170w, 2x RX 580 is 27.5-28.5 mh/s each @ 180w. Quick edit/update: Core clock of 1090mhz and memory clock of 2000mhz is now giving me 28.6-28.8 mh/s each card. Will keep messing around to get over 30 mh/s. [link] [comments] |
