$350 GPU for mining and hash cracking

a newbie single gpu mining - tell me what I'm doing wrong

    Posted: 30 Dec 2017 07:32 AM PST

Hello, I am currently mining with my productivity rig to pay back the gpu i purchased and upgrade to a 1060 6gb or 1070 in the future for mining.

I am currently mining on miningpoolhub,

My 1050ti is mining zencash/zenclassic - getting around 160-170-180 sols with an undervolted overclocked card, my oc stats are:

+115mhz boost clock (1507 mhz very stable)

    memory clock 7382(+374),

    power target at 90%

fan curve is seet to auto and my card is staying at a cool 60 degrees.

My ryzen 1600 is mining xmr-cpu-stak - monero ofcourse, i get around 400-500h/s with a very slight oc to 3.4ghz, although i'm planning on overclocking it more (3.7-3.8). miningpoolhubstats report hashrastes that are all over the place - now it's showing 700h/s, but in the cmd it shows hashrates of around 400-500h/s.

What other coins could I / should I mine with my equipment? At first i auto exchanged the coins I mined to litecoin and was working with awesome miner, but i noticed it's not that profitable and I didn't like it in the end. Litecoin dropped in value greatly right now and I'm kind of sad that i auto exchanged. What coins do you guys use for long term stability and HODL? I know stability is a pretty naive thing to expect from cryptos, but i'm sure there are cryptos that are more stable than others.

Can I upgrade my rig with another GPU?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2017 06:31 AM PST

Hi Reddit, I have gaming PC that I would like to use to mine crypto. My specs are:

    MOBO: PRIME B350-PLUS

    CPU: Ryzen 1600

    GPU: GTX 1060 6GB

Is it possible to add another graphic card and make it work? In specification it says that GPUs can work in 2-Way CrossFireX mode but my GPU is from nVidia not from AMD. I don't want to use 2 cards in games but in mining. Can I buy other card or does it have to be 1060?

    6xrx570 pulling 1070 watts

    Posted: 30 Dec 2017 01:32 AM PST

So i got 6 times the RX570 aorus from gigabyte with hynix memory. Flashed the anoraks bios and currently running: 1100 core 2060 memory and 900 underclock using simplemining os but still my rig is pulling around 1070 watts from the wall this would equal more than 130 watts per card. The hashrate is around 28.5 mhs.

    Theorycrafting x6 1080ti build 1psu.

    Posted: 30 Dec 2017 05:10 AM PST

Theorycrafting how to build a x6 1080ti build with 1 psu.

Any mobo (any recommendations for quality and cost efficiency)?

    Cheapest HDD.

    Cheapest CPU.

Any reason to have more than 4gb of ram?

EVGA 1600w platinum. Has x9 PCI-E and x2 molex lines. - is it okay to run 1 line into each card, and split the remaining three lines into two cards each? - I know to reduce tdp but I feel like with a rig like this you take no risks. - 2 molex lines is not enough to power 6 risers.

How to solve this 1080ti x6 build with 1 psu?

Question for people with 12x1080ti rigs

    Posted: 29 Dec 2017 08:48 PM PST

How do you solve the power requirements for a 12x1080ti rig? Do you use 2x1600+ PSU's? Or do you use 3 smaller ones?

Extra peripheral power ports on Biostar TB250-BTC mobo?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2017 12:17 AM PST

There are two extra peripheral power powers (4pin) on the BioStars TB250-BTC board. I am not using them right now, I'm wondering what they're for. Biostar's guide says I should put them in.... Hmm... Here's a picture

Back in the game with an 8 GPU rig...

    Posted: 29 Dec 2017 11:22 AM PST

Been out of crypto for about 3 or 4 years now. Decided to jump back in with both feet. Building out an 8 GPU rig. Missing a few components so only running 6 GPUs currently:

    https://s5.postimg.org/42pzd74jb/20171229_083908.jpg

Was able to reuse some older parts I had sitting around like the Samsung SSD and a Seasonic 1250W PSU. Motherboard is an Asus ROG Z270E and the GPUs are Asus ROG Strix 1070Ti. Running Ubuntu Server 16.04 as the OS. All cards are clocked with a core +200 and memory +700. Also have the power limit restriction set to approx 70% or 130w.

Here is just a part of my original LTC farm back in the day of late 2013/2014. Man those were good times when LTC was easy and cheap to mine. Not going to build out anything that big again... At least, that is the idea...

question pcie riser card 6 pin to sata. can you connect the card with a cable 6 pin female to 6 pin male to psu? is it better this way in matter of safety ?

Need advise on budget 1050ti rig

    Posted: 30 Dec 2017 03:17 AM PST

Hi guys, I'm pretty new to Cryptocurrency mining. I was mining only for few days on my PC with 1060 6GB on NiceHash just before they were hacked. Not big loss for me.

Now I would like to build separate rig for mining- I don't want to overload my gaming PC. I was thinking about something cheap. Does it make sense to buy 3 x 1050ti to start mining? What other hardware I would need to make it as cheap as possible? In the future I would like to have option to upgrade this rig with new GPUs.

Does it make sense to build rig on 1050tis? Or maybe I should buy one gtx1070? In addition I have free electricity.

    Thanks in advance :)

    Temps and performance issues on GtX1080 (2x Inno3D vs 1x KFA2)

    Posted: 30 Dec 2017 02:44 AM PST

    Hello everyone,

Note. Previous post removed because of wrong title. (My bad)

Newbie here, posting first time. Made a rig consisting of 3 GTX1080 (2x Inno3D HerculeZ and 1 KFA2 EXOC). Coming here asking for your opinions about my rig and what is happening to my KFA2 GTX 1080.

Below you will see my pictures of my rig + GPU-Z stats + MSI Afterburner clock(only for KFA2)

    Rig picture 1

    Rig picture 2

    GPU-Z + Afterburner

    My questions:

    • Why does the KFA2 reaches above 81°C when left on Fan Speed -> Auto and closes all GPUs?
    • Why does it go in 76-77°C with 0 overclock with 85% of the Fan Speed?
    • Why are the other 2 Inno3Ds GPUs staying under 76°C with a 10% overclock while I have to remove the Auto feature for the Fan Speed for KFA2 and put it in 85% to get 2040RPM while the Inno3Ds are happy with 1755(48% Fan Speed)?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Which GPU is Which? - ATI/GPU-Z and Claymore don't correspond

    Posted: 30 Dec 2017 02:40 AM PST

    Hi everyone,

please don't lynch me for this question. As you can obviously tell, I am new to this whole mining world and I have been doing my best to try and set up a rig in the past couple of weeks or so. Everything has been going great, thanks to all the top advice you all give out on here, but now that it comes to the overclocking of the cards, I am running into a bit of a head scratcher here. Basically, flashing the cards and everything else on ATI worked as intended. After playing around with the first two cards, I went into GPU-Z to check stats, and I can confirm that there GPU1 and then GPU2 was changed. However, when it comes to Claymore, it for some odd reason just messes around the order of the GPUs. So when turning them off in Claymore I have the following happening:

    • GPU0 = (PCI-E5)
    • GPU1 = (PCI-E2)
    • GPU2 = (PCI-E1)
    • GPU3 = (PCI-E4)
    • GPU4 = (PCI-E6)
    • GPU5 = (PCI-E3)

ATI and GPU-Z both have Slots 0 as my onboard which is disabled, but when I tried to run a .bat file on OverdriveNTool and started with p0, it stated that this was not supported, so I had no choice but to start from p1 there.

Hope this isn't too confusing for you all to read through. I know I must have gone wrong somewhere down the line for the order of things to have messed up this way, I am just baffled as to exactly where. I have been searching the interwebs and on here for answers, but didn't manage to come up with anything helpful. So with that I am turning to all of you wise people out there. If there is anybody who has had similar issues, or who can simply tell me where my little idiot brain has gone wrong during the whole set-up, then it would be very very much appreciated. Thanks for your input folks!

Possible to gpu mine with a gtx970 or would power consumption outweigh the gains?

    Few noob questions

    Posted: 29 Dec 2017 09:30 PM PST

Setting up my first rig finally. Few noob questions if you guys don't mind. My setup include asus prime z270-a, celeron processor, windows 10 pro, and evga 1070 tis.

    • Is it possible to turn off the LED on these evga cards? If so, what utility do I need to download?

    • I have my primary gpu as the igpu, my monitor current connect to the igpu. After installing the nvidia driver, I tried to go into the nvidia control panel and this error appeared "...you are not currently using a display attached to an nvidia gpu..." Is there any way I can trick the nvidia control panel into thinking that a display is plug into a nvidia gpu?

    • Is it the proper setup to have your igpu enabled and is set up as the primary display? I will of course eventually not have a monitor, keyboard, and mouse plug into my rig. I read some where that if the igpu is not enable and set to as the primary display, remote desktop will utilize one of the main nvidia gpu during remote desktop session, thus lowering the hash rate on that card.

    • I will eventually move to linux. Is there linux distro which is the most popular distro for gpu mining? Or is it one of those thing where a particular distro is compatible with certain coin?

    Thanks.

Single 1080ti outperforming 2 1070s on Skein, doesn't seem quite right

    Posted: 29 Dec 2017 06:59 PM PST

I have a 1080ti that when it's mining on Skein it gets around 840Mh/s but on my two 1070s they are only giving me around 330 Mh/s each for around 660 combined. Is there something particular to that algorithm that performs so much better on the 1080ti?

In comparison on Equihash the 1070s give me around 440-460 Sols each where as the 1080ti gives around 650, that seems like a more expected scaling in performance between the two different cards.

Just getting started with RX 560s

    Posted: 29 Dec 2017 08:34 PM PST

I just purchased a $1500 rig with 4 RX 560s with a motherboard that can hold up to 6 GPUs. Of course, I realized after I order the 560s on Amazon that they aren't that good. What should I do? How much could I still make? Any tips on how to maximize profits on this?
