Anyone know how to enable multiple GPUs on Gigabyte z170x-ud3

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 06:57 AM PST

    Hello everyone.

I recently purchased a 6gpu pack from gpushack. I received the gigabyte z170x-ud3 with 6 pcie slots, 3 pcie 1, 1 x16, 1 x 8 and 1x4. The bios is F20 version (no g4 decoding available unless it's hidden somewhere). I flashed the bios to the latest full version of F22 still no g4 decoding. There is an F23A and F23D version (f23d does have 4g decoding but as it is a letter grade it's only a partial bios)

I have set max link speed to gen 1, 2 and 3, and I have switched out which port the 3rd gpu plugs into under each max link speed under F22 and F20. I have shut down unused SATA ports and audio ports.

I am running Windows OS 10 x64 and using 3 EVGA GTX 1080 gpus. I have plugged all 3 GPUs into the motherboard, the 3rd one is the one that isn't being detected. The other two work whether on risers or not. I have also swapped out Risers and plugged all 3 into MOBO directly.

Does it matter which port I plug the GPUS in when syncing them to the MOBO? Is plugged the very first one into the pci 16 and that is the main one that works in any slot.

I have followed the gigabyte website for enabling MOBO for mining however nothing seems to work on getting the 3rd GPU enabled. If i select disable CSM under the OS 10/8 selection, I cannot load windows then.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. GPUSHACK tests each model of MOBOs prior to shipping so this has capability, I just don't know how.

*Edit was to add website link to mobo.

    1070 Ti power connectors

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 05:50 AM PST

Are both the 6 pin and 8 pin power connectors needed, or will the single 8 pin work for mining? Looks like the Mini cards only have a single 8 pin, while the full length cards have 6 and 8 pin. Just want to make sure I get adapters if I need them.

URGENT: EtherDelta MIGHT HAVE BEEN COMPROMISED!

    Posted: 20 Dec 2017 12:56 PM PST

So, now that NiceHash is back up and running. What will happen?

    Posted: 20 Dec 2017 05:25 PM PST

What do you think will happen to the altcoin market? Difficulty increases? Profitability of mining using software such as Awesome Miner and MPH? Anything else that may be affected by NiceHash powering back up?

I ask because I only got into mining 3 weeks before the NH hack. I don't have enough experience to gauge the variables and how it will alter the landscape.

    What do think?

2 hour SMA much lower than reported hashrate, help apreciated (info inside)

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 03:11 AM PST

Hello guys, i'm fairly new to coin mining. I've read a lot and been mining eth since 4-5 days now. I've got a gtx1080 (no OC), win10 and using claymore 10.X atm. I'm mining for nanopool. On the software i've got a hashrate steady of around 19/20 Mh/s. I've had a few issue of the windows freezing (known issue for cmd/win10) and I solved it recently so these drops of reported hashrate should not happen anymore.

My main issue is that my 2 hour SMA and submitted shares has been declining heavily since 24 hours and I cant find the reason why. I haven't changed my settings. There is no apparent error message on the claymore window, nor on the log. My 2hour SMA seems to average around 10 Mhs instead of the roughly 20 i should get. My internet connection is flawless (and has been for a few years) so this should not factor in. My GPU is stable at around 60/65 degree and fan at around 40%.

My GPU load is around 50% since I use the option -ethi 0 (to be able to play video games while I'm home, I do not change the setting while away). That is the only "unusual setting" I used, alongside a tempreature control one ( -ttli 75) that I may remove if needed since the GPU temp seems to stay below or at 65 most of the times.

I updated windows, nvidia drivers, made sure I had 16gb of page files on windows. What puzzles me is that I did not change anything since when I started to mine and It worked fine as you can see in the graph below:

    https://imgur.com/batt3PP

At first I had a 2H-SMA close to my reported hashrate and since a day it had plummeted to half of what it was. I know RNG is a factor with only one gfx card but over 24 hours, it would be very bad luck if that's what it was about.

What do you think it is related to?

Since my GPU load is around 50% could this be because the -ethi 0 option ? With or without it my hashrate in claymore stays around the same, wihch is wierd since my gpu seems to be working way less than without the option. But then again, it worked fine for two days with that option....

Any help will be greatly appreciated :) Thank you !

What PSU for a 6x VEGA Mining Rig - Help!

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 03:04 AM PST

    Hi guys,

I've purchased x6 AMD Vega 56 cards, going to mine them but need help picking out the right PSU. I wanted to buy the evga 1600w but can't source them where I live :(

I was thinking either: SilverStone 1500W Strider Titanium Power Supply http://silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=758&area=en

Or Corsair 1500W Titanium Series AX1500i

Would 1500w be enough to power a x6 VEGA 56 card rig?

    Many thanks!

GPU gets 50% hash rate the second I open CPU Miner Simultaneously.

    Posted: 20 Dec 2017 10:38 PM PST

In the past I've been able to open XMR Stak's GPU and CPU miner and run them both at the same time. I've changed nothing to my knowledge since then.

Formerly, I would get 290hs on the GPU and about 130hs on the CPU (Just an Office PC).

If I open GPU miner and run it, I get the correct 290hs.

The second I open the CPU miner and it starts running, my GPU H/S roughly halves itself to around 145hs.

The CPU miner operates at it's normal 130hs all the time.

If I close XMR Stak CPU miner, immediately, the GPU miner ramps back up from 145hs to 290hs.

Any idea what could be causing this?

    • Miner(s) - XMR Stak GPU Miner & XMR Stak CPU Miner.
    • CPU - Intel i5 6600k OC @ 4.4Ghz
    • GPU - Evga GTX 960 FTW (2GB stock OC)
    • Mobo - Asus Z170 Pro Gaming
    • PSU - Rosewill Photon 750W
    • OS - Windows 7 64bit

What do we know about the Sapphire NITRO+ Vega 56?

    Posted: 20 Dec 2017 05:40 PM PST

Just got my hands on one of these while newegg still had them in stock. Honestly have no idea if they're any better than a normal Vega 56. Are they supposed to be better for mining?

Can I use modded bios regularly? Or is it best to use the switch

    Posted: 20 Dec 2017 09:40 PM PST

I have a switch on my sapphire nitro + rx 580. I use this card primarily for gaming, and only turn on the mining software when its not being used. My question is if I download a modded bios, will I have to switch if back to the reg bios using the gpu switch after I'm done mining? Or can i use that modded bios for gaming, browsing, etc.

    AMD 570 VS NVIDIA 1060

    Posted: 20 Dec 2017 04:47 PM PST

Hey everyone. I'm in the process of piecing together a new dedicated rig. I'm not a Vega/1080ti elite, so I have to go with bang for buck. I want to eventually have 6+ cards running. I'm torn between 1060's and 570's. I currently have 2 570's - both Red Dragon 4GB. I think I can probably find more 570's for roughly $190-$220. On the other hand, I could go for 1060's. I've heard 6GB models are slightly faster, DAG proof (would I even want to mine ETH with these?), and better resale. Problem is I can't justify $240+ for a 6GB when I think an on sale 3GB for ~$180 would be a better ROI. On a side note, I was a nicehasher for a long time. I've set up MPH + AW, and got decent results, so with NH back online, I'm up in the air. I kinds of want to keep away from NH, because I think I'll probably have more control, get a better return, and I'll keep learning new stuff. If I did go the 1060 route, I'm thinking about pointing them at ZCash or something else nvidia is strong in. Please feel free to rip my plan to shreds. Any experience or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

amd 580 8gb low performance wtf?

    Posted: 20 Dec 2017 07:23 PM PST

so i just got a devil rx580 8pin 6pin. pop it in and this is what im getting on monero? what am i doing wrong? 1.36$ and 355hashs... shouldn't it be in the 600s or 700s at least?

My 390 gets 909 which yea it has a custom bios but i dont think 355 is right for a stock 580.. well the devil runs at 1380 core..

Also just tried equihash bitcoin gold it was 307hashs and i just did a memory timing tweak but everything else is stock and im getting 348hashs...

    http://prntscr.com/hqa2ee

I tried it just with the 580 in and its still the same and i also just tried it in my 2nd rig that my 390 was in and its still the same...

Is something wrong with it? Or do they just suck at stock?

Need Mining Advice for a Small Rig w/ 1060/1070

    Posted: 20 Dec 2017 06:27 PM PST

I have a GTX 1060 sitting in an old computer and a GTX 1070 in my current computer I use for playing games. I was considering moving the 1060 into my current computer to mine. Should I be worried about temperature issues if my case has decent ventilation with 3 fans? I was going to use Awesome Miner for my setup as I have used that in the past. Do you have any other recommendations? I downloaded AIO Miner and set it up but I don't know if it is better? FYI I do not have to pay for electricity since I live in a resident hall. Would it be worth it in the end with all of these factors?

    Thank you!

Anyone done a large scale mining operation? have some questions about ventilation/power draw

    Posted: 20 Dec 2017 10:48 AM PST

I am looking into possibly doing a large scale mining operation (100+ cards) and have a few questions and looking for some info.

I will be renting a 1000sqft place and need to be able to do proper ventilation. Anyone done this type of thing that I can connect with or if you have done it provide some tips on do's and dont's.

I am looking for tips on what I need to setup in this place that will possibly power 100 1080ti's. I would also need to make sure the place has proper ventilation/AC.

From what I have gathered so far is "try to stop from putting on heat then putting on cool air (run the cards cool so they generate less heat)"

I have basic understanding of power draw and ventilation but setting up the actual rigs etc, I wont have any problems.

If anyone knows of a detailed blog that go over this scenario, I would appreciate that as well.

    Mining with HD5570 in Win10 x64?

    Posted: 20 Dec 2017 04:05 PM PST

I have an older card, a Radeon HD5570, that used to work on Windows 7. That HDD crashed this past weekend, and I figured I'd upgrade the box to Win10.

Windows sees the card, the last driver from AMD works just fine... But every miner I try (specifically looking for Cryptonote, and usually run Claymore's miners - though I'm not picky!) complains that it doesn't support OpenCL.

Has anyone successfully gotten an HD5xxx card mining in Win10 x64, or do I actually need to punt and reinstall Win7?

    Thanks!

/Edit: I have, and have installed successfully, the 2.9.1 OpenCL SDK.

    Summer heat

    Posted: 20 Dec 2017 02:18 PM PST

So I am looking into summer prep and wanted to know if there are any good tips on keeping temps down or to stop gpus from putting off so much heat. Would lowing the core men and power level do this? A window fan or a.c. unit. I can direct fans to push air out a back door for now, but looking ahead as I live in Florida. Thanks

    Trouble using two PSUs

    Posted: 20 Dec 2017 01:42 PM PST

I've got two corsair hx705i psus. I'm trying to link them using this adapter: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/24Pin-20-4-Dual-PSU-ATX-Power-Supply-Adaptor-Cable-Connector-For-Mining-30cm-TP/142316328438?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

I connect my first psu's 24 pin cable to the female 24 pin part of that adapter, as well as the cpu, ssd, 2 1070s and 2 risers. I connect my second psu's 24 pin cable to the 2 pin female end of that adapter (the thinner one), as well as a riser and a 1080. The problem is that while the components connected to the first psu power on, the components connected to the second psu don't. The riser's led doesn't light up and the 1080 doesn't turn on.

    Help much appreciated, thanks.
