Hello r/Ethereum: Here are some links where you can read about plans to scale on Ethereum! Posted: 04 Dec 2017 12:23 PM PST A lot of people seem to be freaking out because they think CryptoKitties somehow broke Ethereum. Ethereum has always planned for scaling up to handling more transactions. Honeypots contracts on Ethereum Posted: 04 Dec 2017 03:02 PM PST So I was browsing etherscan before sleep, like every other normal person and I came across two interesting contracts (that act as honeypots for naive hackers). The first one kind of confused me as it seemed for a moment somebody left 1 ether for the taking if you call the multiplication method with 1.1 ether and your address, but you'll actually give all the money to the contract. As I think this is a interesting little hack I won't spoil why you'll loose your money if someone wants to figure out on their own. Link: https://etherscan.io/address/0x5aa88d2901c68fda244f1d0584400368d2c8e739#code The second one is pretty obvious at least for me, an infinite loop that will use up all your gas for the transaction and you never get to the part of the code that send you the money. link 2: https://etherscan.io/address/0x791d0463b8813b827807a36852e4778be01b704e#code [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Dec 2017 08:51 PM PST That so many people want to use cryptokitties and, thus, use the Ethereum network to buy, sell and give birth to cats is not so surprising, seeing the previous pepe cards, beanie baby, pokemon crazes. This is currently putting a stress on Ethereum and testing its limits (yet we're far from them as gas limits can easily be increased with agreement from miners). We know scability is one of the most important issues for public blockchains (if not the most important). It's not easy to have real transactions to test a public blockchain, people don't use it just for the sake of it. So cryptokitties is heaven for preparing the network to other more important (though less furry and cute) applications. Welcome cryptokitties for a better, faster and more awesome Ethereum! Posted: 04 Dec 2017 06:17 PM PST Hi all, I've recently transferred some funds from MyEtherWallet to Metamask in an attempt to use EtherDelta. The funds have arrived and show in my wallet but all transactions are displaying failed when trying to process. It is displaying: Error: insufficient funds for gas *price + value even though the amount I am trying to send is well below my balance. The same error occurs when trying to send back to my private key. Any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments]

Can we please increase the gas limit? Posted: 04 Dec 2017 06:32 PM PST With the recent increase in usage, the network is becoming a little clogged and the tx fees are rising. The network seems to be handling the current gas limit effortlessly and I think it might make sense to raise it. How can we estimate the maximum gas limit the network can handle? For example, would 50 or 100 million gas per block be too much? [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Dec 2017 08:25 PM PST The roadmap is full of scalability solutions and ideas. There are no dapps on the main network right now that require instant transaction times. We need to quit acting like the World is collapsing around here today and just educate people of the reality and what they can do to improve transaction times if they need it fast. Adoption is starting to slowly outpace the scalability roadmap but the network is still HIGHLY functional right now. https://ethgasstation.info/ is the best possible tool. For some help on selecting gas price, 62% of transactions are using a gas price between 4 and 20 gwei and those transactions would confirm on average between 30 seconds and 3 minutes. New to ETH, Transactions not being processed? Help Posted: 04 Dec 2017 07:36 PM PST Hey guys, new to crypto overall and purchased quite a bit of ethereum today. The only problem is I have not received any of it yet in my wallet. I have made a few small ETH purchases before and deposited to my wallet with no issues. My first order was placed at around 1pm central time with coinmama for some eth. My second order was about an hour ago with coinbase. Neither of these have confirmed or even have a tx number yet. I paid the recommended fee for these to be processed, selecting 'fast' as the category. It looks like crypto kitties might be the reason for this, will my orders in the backlog eventually get processed? I am starting to get nervous since these were larger orders.
