I'm making a (in-browser WebGL) game where you can buy virtual properties on the ETH blockchain, build a house on them Sims-style and resale them for a, hopefully, higher price. Is this something which interests HODLers?

You will be able to buy properties, build houses on them or improve existing ones, add furniture, landscaping and vehicles if so desired, then (try to) resale at a higher value. Or you can just own virtual properties on the blockchain.

Of course for this kind of game a certain amount of centralization is still inevitable at this point, as with Cryptokitties et al. Storing whole house blueprints on the blockchain would currently cost a lot of gas for every transaction.

A game like this wouldn't be complete without a lambo prop ;)

    There could be two models:

    1) The property value acts like a stock, where every buy increases the overall price, and every sale decreases it.

    2) You can just set your own sale value (like CryptoKitties) and hope to sell higher than that you bought it after customizing the property.

    What do you think?

I don't care if I get downvoted for this. Tiny ass fees. Fast ass confirmations. Awesome community. Amazing tech. What's not to love?

Why are there so many altcoins based on ETH when there is ETH?

    Posted: 22 Dec 2017 02:05 AM PST

What can't ETH do that those altcoins can?

What's the need for altcoin with specific purpose?

For example, KWHCoin - use to exchange electricity

    Thanks.

Just a post to say i’m very excited for Ethereum.

I just bought ETH today on the dip. I've been researching it for awhile now and am very confident in it. Not even referring to the possible profits, i'm just very curious what role Ethereum will play in the future.

I sent Eth from GDAX to Bittrex, on coinbase the transaction says complete, but on Bittrex nothing. Bittrex does say ETH wallet is down for maintenance. I copied and pasted the code so it should be correct, any suggestions?

How can a developer pay gas fees on ERC223 Tokens?

    Posted: 22 Dec 2017 11:30 AM PST

I'm looking to create a membership program for my VR Arcade in Miami, FL and would like to send purchasers "VR Tokens" they can redeem for hour long VR sessions.

I don't want our guests to have to worry about gas fees or having to have ETH in their wallet and such and remember reading about a standard, not sure if it was ERC223, that lets a developer pay for the gas fees instead of the guest.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Is there any Reason not to try 9.000.000 gas? (or even 10.000.000)

    Posted: 22 Dec 2017 03:52 PM PST

The actual uncle rate, at 8 mil. gas with full blocks is about 27%, less than 33% when the gas was about 6.7 milion with full blocks.

So I don't see any reason not to try a little bump at 9.000.000 gas.

    Am I wrong?

Question about launching an ERC Token. Must you pass out coins from Contract address?

    Posted: 22 Dec 2017 05:04 PM PST

Hey, hoping you guys can help me out, I'm trying to help a friend. He paid a guy on Fiverr to create a token for him. Guy gave him private key of the address/wallet the token was created on and then transferred the tokens on to his address.

My buddy is hoping someday to sell the tokens. He's concerned people will find it odd he's not using the contract address. Does this matter whether the coins are stored and passed out form the contract address or his personal address?

I suppose he could send the tokens back to contract address but hypothetically the Fiverr freelancer kept the private key to this.
