    r/CryptoMarkets Banner Contest

    Posted: 18 Nov 2017 06:27 PM PST

Hello hodlers and day traders. The banner I designed in 2013 has become outdated and we the mod team believe it is finally time to replace it. Just like the r/CryptoCurrency banner contest, we want to make a contest for designing our next banner.

    Contest Rules:

    • Anybody may enter. Just post a top-level comment below linking to your banner image. Multiple submissions from the same user are allowed but should be condensed into one comment. Comments will be sorted by newest first.

    • A banners must be the same dimensions as the current banner(2217x115) or slightly smaller. Click here to view the current banner.

    • Animations are allowed.

    • All banners should be designed to blend in with the new theme being worked on in r/CryptoMarkets_test. Side note - If you have any questions or feedback about the theme, please message u/turtleflax. Also, if you have CSS skills and want to lend a hand with the theme redesign, please contact the r/CryptoMarkets_test modmail.

    • All contestants must submit their banners in JPG or PNG format and save their image editing files(XCF, PSD, etc) so they can be made available if/when one is selected as a winner. This way a banner will be easier to integrate into the new theme design.

    • Anyone with over 100 comments on r/CryptoMarkets, will be eligible to vote for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners after the submission time window is over. Mods will have a right to vote by default.

    • The contest will last a minimum duration of two weeks. It might be extended if necessary.

    Ticker

By the same token(pun not intended), we would also like to implement a ticker for our sub. Given that people who have the skills, time, and motivation to code and maintain a ticker are probably few and far between, we will simply leave the door open for any voluneers to accept this challenge. If anyone has or knows someone with the ability to build and maintain a ticker, please contact the mods or leave a comment below. For examples to work with, here are the GitHub repos for the r/EthTrader and r/CryptoCurrency tickers:

    r/EthTrader - https://github.com/EthTrader/ethtrader-ticker

    r/CryptoCurrency - https://github.com/jwinterm/py-ticker - u/jwinterm is willing to answer anyone's questions about his ticker.

Only banner submissions and contest questions will be allowed in this thread. Have fun and good luck!

Majority of coins down hard 15%?

What's going on with the market? Seems like all coins are down 15% across the board in the last 2 hours.

    Everyone's (real) sleeper picks

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 06:09 AM PST

Most of the sleeper picks people post are already in the top 20 market caps, so they are established coins with room to grow, but you're unlikely to see a 1000% return like you would get with an actual sleeper.

    So what's everyone's sleeper picks for 2018?

Mine are GVT and AION (both on Binance)

EDIT: Add the exchanges you can get them on

Why you should not trade so flipping often...

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 02:47 PM PST

So here are a list of investment I made:

    • 1 million of XVG back in Oct 2018 (sold at a loss, went from 130 satoshis to 91)
    • 56000 XRP in November (sold at 10% loss)
    • Had 15.3 BCH sold at a small profit, saw it kept going up, and eventually bought back in with 10.54 (lost 20000+ profit, wtf...if I just held)
    • Could have sold Lisk for double, could have sold QTUM for double, etc etc etc

I strongly believe in Crypto but I got very nervous in my first couple months and for some reason, I thought I can be a master day trader, boy was I wrong.

Today my profit is about $7-10 k depending on how Bitcoin fluctuates, whereas I could have had $77-100 k, had I been smarter, perhaps even more if I made smarter moves rather than always selling at a loss because of fear of losing more.

If you believe in your coins, hold onto them strong.

Lack of research and going on a whim is stupid, learn what the coins are about before purchasing.

TRX is the most traded coin on Binance in the last 24 hours - Why?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 04:00 PM PST

Tron or TRX has shifted almost 22,000BTC in exchanges in the last 24-hours according to Binance. This makes it the most traded. I know it is coming off the back of a pump and dump, but even for that this volume is crazy. Are the whales keeping it steady for another bull run?

What are your thoughts on TRX in general?

Looking for recommendations on trading signal groups. What is your experience with them?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 04:53 PM PST

I've been trading full-time for most of 2017 with good success. Mostly I've worked solo -- just reading charts by myself and trading alone. Occasionally I've watched some youtube videos for help with TA.

I'm going to be traveling for the next three months (Thanks, Crypto!) and won't have time to do my normal routine of research and trading. I'm wondering if joining a signal group may help streamline the process, so I can be notified of potential trades and quickly decide whether or not to enter them. I'll be trading from my phone a lot so I'll need to be efficient, and it would be great to have some of the burden of work delegated to someone else.

I know NOTHING about these groups -- are they legitimate? Do they provide reasonable accurate signals?

I can only assume I'll be shilled here, and that's fine. But if you have personal experience with one or more groups, whether positive or negative, please do share. Thanks!

Recommendations for any wallet apps for iOS?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 05:55 PM PST

I'm already familiar with Coinbase and it's app, so am looking for some alternatives, not because I don't like Coinbase but am curious what else is out there. Been looking at Abra but the reviews look mixed. Anyone using Abra? If so, what's your experience been like using it? Any other app recommendations would be appreciated.

Is it time for the next gen of crypto exchanges to emerge?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 02:05 PM PST

So I had a conversation with a few friends of mine - front and back end programmers and we discussed some of the things missing from current exchanges, and what we, in the crypto trading world, would love to see implemented.

We want to be a catalyst for that change and would love it if you told us what you'd love to see in an exchange that's not already available.

Any BTCMarkets.net traders? I made a mobile friendly live ticker / portfolio calculator over at cryptick.com.au

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 06:47 PM PST

I am fairly new to cryptos, and use BTCMarkets.net, being from Australia. I may be reinventing the wheel, but here is a live ticker I built in the last few weeks as I wanted to see real time data and track my portfolio obsessively on my phone. This is a beta, which I built for myself, so hopefully my server survives, no promises.

    Tracker is here : http://cryptick.com.au/

    Some features currently:

    • add your portfolio amounts into each currency, it calculates your value in real time
    • add original investment to see ROI in real-time
    • click a crypto to scroll to that chart
    • you can highlight and zoom into the charts (this will be improved)

If I get some donations I would love to work on this more, I plan to:

    • add other Australian markets
    • pay for a graphing library (this is demo atm)
    • add a AUD box for portfolio, and the other currencies/cryptos
    • improve the performance of the graphs
    • store all the market data to allow historical queries
    • pay for hosting and keep it alive! alive!

If you want to keep track of it, head over to https://www.reddit.com/r/cryptick/ for any suggestions / feedback so it doesn't get lost in this thread. Happy Hodling!

I have gotten many great book suggestions for Cryptomarkets/Cryptocurrencies, but are there books that go in depth on all the different types of blockchain usages?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 09:55 PM PST

I have read a few books like "Cryptoassets: The Innovative Investor's Guide to Bitcoin"... But now I am looking to understand a little more in depth about the technology itself.

    Any suggestions? Thanks!

Does BTC value affect the value of the Alt I'm invested in?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 09:51 PM PST

Hey all. I'm trying to understand how I'm losing cash. I have a good bit invested in an alt. I have 36095 coins. The alt goes up from .00001683 to .00001686. Bitcoin price goes down less than $100. But, my balance goes down $100. It seems very strange that this is happening and there has to be a factor that I'm not considering. It's driving me crazy that I seem to be doing well with my investment and I'm continuously losing $100's of dollars within a 20 minutes period at times.

    Thanks.
