Seasons Greetings from Western Union, Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash

    Posted: 28 Dec 2017 08:13 AM PST

Today I hope I made some dent in the Bitcoin Cash universe.

    Posted: 28 Dec 2017 03:13 AM PST

Last line on these two ads that I posted. In hopes it gets some people with the real money to really start thinking about Bitcoin Cash and introducing a new crowd to the real Bitcoin. No humblebrag, just pure happiness to promote Bitcoin Cash where it could actually matter.

Anyone else looking for ROI and crypto success in general? Stop the bcore troll madness and wake up.

    Posted: 28 Dec 2017 08:00 AM PST

This sub is half dominated by trashy bcore troll posts. I've recently rejoined reddit because I was inspired by the community. These guys come in here to create FUD and trigger ppl. I'm over it. If you don't see the upside in improvement, didn't hold at the fork, or simply just got nothing better to do than troll? Please get a life and move on. BCH has had a great ROI over its short life. It's not crashing and burning anytime soon. I get the feeling the trolls are all in on bcore and nothing else. Diversify. You don't gotta have BCH, but spread your assets, it's wise by all accounts. The success of the entire crypto market is far more important than dick swing brag rights. Go talk about something more intelligent than bcore dominance. No one cares, and if you were a savvy investor or had a deep portfolio you wouldn't have the fear you do that's driving you to troll for self fulfillment.

Accepting Bitcoin Cash as a Convention Vendor

    Posted: 28 Dec 2017 12:28 PM PST

I originally posted the below on /r/bitcoin, but it's pretty clear accepting BitCoin is unfeasable (the transaction costs, amonsgt other things). It sounds like BitCoin Cash is actually the appropriate currency to accept, so I figured I would ask the same questions here.

I really appreciate the answers in advance :) I'd like to make this project a reality so I'm really pushing for it.

Hi everyone! I own a fairly large convention board game store (we go to about 50 anime/comiccons/etc every year). A few years ago we ran a trial of accepting bitcoin, but there really wasn't enough adoption back then. We took in a few hundred dollars over 6 months and then cancelled the project (granted that's worth a lot more than it was then, but the point is the same)

With the growing interesting in cryptocurrency this year, I'm trying to pitch us doing this again to our staff, but I have a few things I need to figure out and I was hoping for help.

    1) We need to come up with a better plan for how to accept them at the register - our original plan involved a lot of fumbling with people's devices and waiting. I have a coinbase account. Is this a sane process: - Give people our wallet address - Have them send money via coinbase or app of their choice on their phone - Verify from their phone that the transaction is processing - Give them the product - Sometime later hopefully the transaction finishes.

    2) My understanding is the transaction fees have grown a lot - is this enough to make it prohibitive? For comparison, transaction fees on a $50 credit card purchase are about $1.20

    3) Is Coinbase the way to go?

    4) How hard is it to convert bitcoincash back into USD? Our plan would be to keep some at btc, but assuming there is any traction in this project we will need to convert some to, you know, pay bills and stuff.

    5) Are there any other cryptocurrencies we should accept? Are they on coinbase?

    6) Is it reasonable to use coinbase's posted price as the price for converting to USD for the sale of goods?

    7) Is there anyone else who does this regularly? Any advice?

Thanks everyone! I'm hopeful I can figure out the details to make this work :)

Does the new address format on Bitcoin Cash include modifications to the private keys?

    Posted: 28 Dec 2017 10:49 AM PST

I read some comments about wallets keeping compatibility with the old address format for a while, and I actually think it would be useful to keep it forever in case somebody finds a paper wallet 20 years from now. But then I realized maybe my concern is not founded because maybe the private key will not be changed.

    Can somebody clarify this?

    Thanks in advance.

Why does BTC and BCH have the same trend? Can we say BCH is directly proportional to BTC.

    Posted: 28 Dec 2017 01:08 AM PST

How're you guys encouraging merchants to accept BCH in your respective countries and/or cities?

    Posted: 28 Dec 2017 08:58 AM PST

Unfortunately in Brazil people are not so interested when I talk about it. They see it as "geek's ou stupid thing" as they don't see real money. I need serious advice about how to convince those people to start working with BCH! Specially small merchants. 210 million people to get convinced...it isn't few.

I think people are going to be very disappointed with LN for 2 reasons

    Posted: 27 Dec 2017 04:48 PM PST

    1. How late it's going to be. We have fee issues now. But LN won't be ready for a very long time. (too long). Case in point. The benefit to this long delay is that users will continue to be dissatisfied and bleed into new coins such as BCH for this same period of time.

    2. Users are being misled to believe it will help them as individuals. It will be too specialized-use for ordinary people. I believe LN will only be useful for larger institutions such as banks and exchanges. Users will not want to open channels to do regular commerce.

Bonus reasons for disappointment: Certain technical challenges to LN have not been solved (decentralized routing). Thus LN may not even work in the end.

Best case scenario: LN will be a highly centralized system no better than banks today, if it ever even reaches public access for use.
